Molanisks are a mid-level Slayer monster unlocked through quest progression and often assigned as Slayer tasks by various masters. While not known for incredible loot, they are quick, simple, and ideal for safe training or cannon usage.
Requirements
-
Slayer Level: 39
-
Quest: Completion of Death to the Dorgeshuun
-
Items Needed:
-
Slayer Bell (purchased from any Slayer master)
-
Rope (only needed for first-time dungeon access)
-
Light Source (Bullseye Lantern recommended)
-
Tinderbox (in case your light is extinguished)
-
Poison Protection (optional) - for nearby monsters
Location
Molanisks are located exclusively in the Dorgesh-Kaan South Dungeon. There are 10 spawns, but not close, so it's recommended to bring a stamina potion or hop worlds.

Access Methods
- Go to Kalphite Cave, then run to the rift
- From Dorgesh-Kaan: Use the rope spot south of the city to climb down.
- Fairy Ring: Use AJQ, and head south.
The dungeon is dark, so always bring a light source, and optionally a tinderbox to relight if needed.
Molanisks appear along the walls of the dungeon and must be activated by ringing your Slayer Bell, which causes them to detach and become aggressive.
Combat Info & Strategy
- Combat Level: 50
- Attack Style: Melee
- Weakness: Crush and Magic
- Aggression: Passive until you ring the Slayer Bell
Strategy
- Ring the Slayer Bell to pull them off the wall.
- Fight with magic or crush-based weapons for optimal kills.
- They have low accuracy, so food requirements are minimal.

Safespots
- South of the Fairy Ring (AJQ): A large rock formation allows for perfect safespotting with magic or ranged.

- Scattered Rocks Nearby: Multiple rock piles in the dungeon can be used to block melee pathing.

Ideal for low-defense players or Ironmen training ranged or magic.
Can you use a Dwarf Cannon to kill Molanisk?
You can use cannon in there to kill them but it is not recommended due to the length between the basilisks, they are too far away for the cannon to hit them all, in addition, there are monsters of other species around which would make you waste cannonballs unnecessarily.
Note: Cannonballs will still require you to ring the Slayer Bell to activate each Molanisk.
