OSRS Slayer Training Guide Leveling 1-99 With Best Masters

OSRS Slayer Training Guide Leveling 1-99 With Best Masters

Slayer is a slow but above all diverse skill, which ensures you won't get bored easily. Not to mention, it has one of the most coveted capes in the entire game due to the difficulty of obtaining it and the respect earned for achieving it. This skill is leveled up by going to a Slayer Master who will tell you which monster to kill. Upon killing the monster, you will receive Slayer experience equal to the monster's health.

It is recommended that players train their combat stats while completing Slayer assignments, as they can generate decent combat experience rates. Regardless of how challenging Slayer might seem, it is quite rewarding as players can unlock monsters with rare and valuable drops that are quite profitable to kill, making Slayer one of the most profitable skills to train, especially at higher levels.

Quests that give Slayer experience

If you have low combat stats and want to skip those early slayer levels, it is best that you first complete these quests, as they have little to no requirements and give slayer experience.

  • A porcine of Interest: it requires a combat level to kill Sourhog (level 37). This rewards the player with 1,000 Slayer experience upon completion.
  • Freeing the Mountain Dwarf (recipe for Disaster): This requires completion of Another Cook’s Quest and fishing contest Quests. This rewards the player with 1,000 slayer experience upon completion.
  •   Natural history quiz (mini-quest): This has no requirements; it consists of 14 creature displays. The player must answer 3 questions about the creatures correctly to get awarded skill experience and a total of 28.

Other quests give slayer experience but have more requirements; they include Champions Challenge (miniquest), Lair of Tarn Razorior, Monkey Madness II, Perilous Moons, Royal Trouble, Wanted!, Animal Magnetism, and the Fremennik Exiles.

Slayer Masters

Slayer masters are NPCs that assign slayer tasks to players, requiring them to kill specific monsters a certain number of times. There are nine slayer masters, each having a different combat level requirement, except Turael/Aya, which has no requirements. When it comes to Slayer Masters, it's a huge topic of discussion in the OSRS community, but ultimately, some are always better than others. If you want to see a more detailed guide about Slayer Masters, click on the link. Slayer masters that have higher requirements usually assign tougher monsters at relatively larger numbers, which will give the player higher slayer experience if they have good combat stats. They can be found on the map using this logo.

Turael/Aya

turael/ayaThese Slayer masters give the easiest Slayer tasks and have no requirements. After While Guthix Sleeps quest, Aya replaces Turael  as the Slayer Master. Any of them can be used to skip tasks from other slayer masters, only if they don’t assign those tasks themselves. Either of the slayer masters can be found in Burthope.

  • Best used for point boosting or resetting tasks
  • Very low XP and rewards

Spria

spriaSpria assigns Surghors to players, in addition to all the tasks assigned by Turael/Aya. Players need to complete Porcine of Interest before they can receive slayer tasks from her. She is located in Draynor Village; the fastest way to get here is through the Amulet of Glory.

  • Unlocked after A Porcine of Interest
  • Same task list as Turael, with minor additions

Krystilia

KrystiliaKystillia’s task must be done in the Wilderness. She does not factor in the player’s combat stats when assigning tasks, which means she can assign tasks that may be more difficult than a player’s combat level indicates they can handle. She can be found in the jailhouse in Edgeville. The fastest way to get to her is through the amulet of glory.

  • Highest Slayer points per task
  • Can provide excellent XP at mid-to-high combat levels
  • Risk is involved due to PvP

Mazchna/Achtryn

Mazchna/AchtrynThe minimum combat level to get assigned a task from Mazchna is level 20. During the While Guthix Sleeps, Mazchna is replaced by Achtryn. Either of them can be found north-east of Canifis; the fastest way to reach him is by using fairy ring code CKS.

  • Good introduction to Slayer
  • Becoming more useful with the upcoming point buffs

Vannaka

VannakaVannaka is a mid-level slayer master who requires a combat level of 40. He can be found in Edgeville Dungeon; the fastest way to reach him is through an amulet of glory.

  • Tasks can be difficult at low stats.
    Improved point rewards after updates

Chaeldar

Chaeldar Chaeldar is also a mid-level slayer master who requires a combat level of 70. She is located in Zanaris; the only way to get to her is through a fairy ring to Zanaris or by entering the shed in Lumbridge Swamp while wearing a dramen or lunar staff.

  • Lost City Quest
  • Solid mid-level option

Konar quo Maten

Konar quo Maten Konar quo Mar requires a combat level of 75. She assigns players to kill monsters in a particular location, except in the wilderness. She is located at the Summit of Mount Karuulm. The fastest way to get here is through Rada’s blessing 3 or 4, or through the fairy code CIR.

  • Assigns location-specific tasks
  • Brimstone keys add steady profit
  • Slower XP compared to other high-level masters

Nieve/Steve

Nieve/Steve Nieve is the second-hardest Slayer Master. A combat level of 85 is required before she will assign slayer tasks to a player. After the completion of Monkey Madness II, Steve replaces Nieve. Either of them can be found in the Tree Gnome stronghold. The fastest way to get here is through the slayer ring or a charged necklace of passage to Jorral’s Outpost.

  • Excellent XP rates
  • Long, high-HP tasks are ideal for cannoning and bursting.

Duradel/Kuradal

Duradel/Kuradal Duradel is the hardest Slayer master, but also offers the fastest Slayer experience rates. Players must have a slayer level of at least 50 and a combat level of 100 before they can receive tasks from Duradel. He can be located across the bridge in Shilo village. The fastest way to get to him is through Karamja 4 gloves, which teleports the player directly to him.

  • Best master for boss tasks
  • Longest assignments and strong XP
  • Ideal for profit-focused Slayer

Slayer reward points are awarded for every slayer task a player completes from any slayer master except Turael and Spria. Slayer masters with higher combat requirements offer higher slayer reward points, as shown above. Additional bonus points are awarded for every 10th, 50th, 100th, 250th, and 1,000th slayer task the player completes; this adds up over a long run, and the total number of points that players can get from completing tasks is 1.77x the normal number of base points. For instance, Duradel gives 15 slayer experience per task as a base point; the total number of points earned every 1000 tasks is 26,550 points.  These points can be used to purchase and unlock different items from Slayer Masters by clicking on rewards after right-clicking on them.

Cancelling/skipping and Blocking tasks

Most of the player's Slayer reward points are for skipping undesirable tasks. Undesirable slayer tasks have the following features:

  • They give lower experience rates
  • They are relatively costly
  • They take too long while giving only average slayer experience: This is a bad idea because the player would be spending most of their time doing average tasks instead of tasks that offer very high slayer experience.

Cancelling tasks means skipping them, and they can still be assigned to you in the future; it costs 30 Slayer reward points. To permanently block a task, you will need to spend 100 Slayer reward points. A maximum of seven slayer tasks can be blocked, six of those requiring 50 quest points each, while the seventh requires completion of Lumbridge & Draynor Diary, since there is a maximum of 300 quest points in the game. Weighting is used to represent how often a slayer task can be assigned. Undesirable tasks with high weightings should be blocked as soon as possible.

How to Unlock New Slayer Tasks

Certain monsters require players to pay some of their reward points before they can be assigned as a slayer task by a slayer master. This is only possible with high-level slayer masters like Duradel. Tasks like the Mithril dragons should be unlocked since they are a fast task that can help you get the points needed to skip undesirable tasks.

Some Slayer tasks are also toggle-able, which means you can decide to toggle them off if you don’t want to get assigned to do the task anymore; this acts as a block.

Here is a list of tasks that can be unlocked:

Extending Slayer Tasks

Players can also extend tasks using their Slayer reward points; however, they should only extend tasks that give them the highest Slayer experience, like Nechryael or Trolls. Extending a task with average experience rates would result in lower Slayer experience rates.

Recommendations For Slayer

Dwarf Cannon

Dwarf cannon The Dwarf cannon is quite useful when looking to get the best slayer experience rates. It can do additional damage to multiple monsters, thereby improving speed and slayer experience rates when on certain slayer tasks. They also give very good ranged experience. To manage costs, the dwarf cannon should only be used for certain tasks where it can make double cannon shots against one monster, like Trolls, Kalphites, Daganoths, and some others. Unless you are an Ironman, it’s better to wait until you can afford a cannon than attempt to train Slayer without it, as they save a significant amount of time. Using the dwarf cannon is expensive; however, some tasks are profitable enough to allow the player to cover the costs.

Prayer

Prayer is useful when training slayer, it allows the player to use protection prayers against assigned monsters, reducing how much they need to make trips to the bank to get more food. Offensive prayers can also be used to increase damage, improving the player’s slayer experience rate as a result. A high prayer level is recommended for training slayer, as it allows players to restore more prayer points per prayer potion dose.

Player-owned houses

Having a house is advantageous when training a slayer; it has a variety of perks, like:

Portal chambers

Portal chambers require 50 construction. They can be set to teleport a player anywhere a spell book can.

Portal Nexus

It requires 72 construction and costs 200,000 coins; it is capable of teleporting the player to multiple locations around Gielenor.

Ornate rejuvenation pool

This restores the player’s special attack energy, run energy, prayer points, health, and any reduced stats. As a result, helping the player manage costs.

Spirit tree & fairy ring

At 95 construction and 83 farming, players can build a spirit tree and a fairy ring in their house, which can be used to teleport faster to the monsters that are assigned to kill.

Note: You can have all of this in your own home or train Slayer in world 330 and, whenever you need to, teleport to Rimmintong and use someone else's house.

How to earn more points when Training Slayer

The fastest way to earn more points when training slayer is by using a slayer master that gives a bigger reward for every 10th task. For instance, completing Turael tasks and then completing every 10th task with Konar quo Maten will yield higher points, since he gives the highest points for every 10th interval outside the Wilderness. Players should note that there is a separate task completion counter for Wilderness Slayer, meaning the tenth task cannot be completed with Krystilia for the additional points.

Gear for Slayer Training

Players should use the best gear available for their level. This will increase their damage and, as a result, improve their slayer experience rates. The gear listed below should be affordable for most players; however, if the player can purchase better gear, they should use it.

Fastest Method of Training Slayer

Early Slayer Training

Level 1–16 Slayer: Varrock Museum Quick And Quests

When starting, complete the Varrock Museum Quiz to get to level 9 slayer, and complete The Porcine of Interest to get level 13; you will also get rewarded with 30 slayer points, and then complete freeing the mountain dwarf (recipe for disaster) to get to level 16 slayer

  • Complete the Varrock Museum Quiz
  • The Porcine of Interest
  • Freeing the Mountain Dwarf (Recipe for Disaster)

Level 16+ Slayer with low combat stats

It is generally not recommended to start training Slayer at low combat levels since most of the tasks are costly and give minimal experience, making it difficult and slow.  Overall, the decision is up to the player when they want to start training Slayer. However, using Vannaka at low combat levels is not as bad as the other alternative, making him the best slayer master for early slayer training.

Mid-Slayer Training: Nieve

To get better Slayer experience rates, it is better to train your combat stats up to 85, which is the requirement to use Nieve. When training Slayer with Nieve, you should only do the tasks in green below. Skip the rest while blocking the task you don’t like,

Blocklist With Nieve

A good block list is also illustrated below. When setting up a good block list, ensure they have the qualities of a bad task as shown above.

Late-Slayer training: Duradel

Duradel is the best slayer master, offering both decent slayer experience rates and good rewards. To get the best experience rates, you should focus on killing the monsters that give the best Slayer experience rates while using quick tasks to get additional Slayer reward points to skip undesirable tasks.

The monsters you should mainly kill during his tasks are similar to Nieve; however, here are some additions:

  • Nechryael

Players can earn high experience rates when Ice Barraging these in the Catacombs of Kourend.

  • Suqahs

The player should now have decent stats to kill Suqahs. Cannon them in the Lunar Isle to earn decent experience rates.

  • Smoke devils

These are unlocked at 93 Slayer. They can give the highest slayer experience rates in the game if you learn to lure and then barrage them.
.
Blocklist With Duradel

Since you have better combat stats when using Duradel, some tasks that you would block when using Nieve can give better experience rates. Here is what your block list should be like when using Duradel

The block list is quite similar as well, but players usually have different block lists set up based on their preferences, and you should do the same. Ensure to kill mostly the monsters with high experience rates, then complete quick tasks to get extra points to skip undesirable tasks. You should continue to add more monsters to your quick tasks if you run out of points until your point is stable, but if your points increase, you should consider removing some.

Money-Slayer training: Konar

If you are looking to make money from training Slayer, you should use Konar as your Slayer master, since the monsters he assigns players to kill have a chance of dropping Brimstone keys, which can be used to open the Brimstone chest right next to her. The Value of loot from this chest is about 89,000 coins. She is the only Slayer master who includes a specific location where the player must complete their Slayer task.

Experience Rates When Training Slayer

An average player, when using efficient methods such as bursting & cannoning, should get around 50K-80K Slayer experience per hour.

Using Duradel, you should expect these experience rates:

  • When killing Nechryaels, players can get up to 80,000 slayer experience when barraging them
  • When killing Smoke devils, players can get up to 150,000 slayer experience when luring and barraging them
  • When Cannoning mutated Bloodvelds at Meiyerditch Laboratories, players can get up to 75,000 slayer experience per hour
  • When Barraging Ankou, players can get up to 55,000 slayer experience per hour.
  • When cannoning Daganoths, players can get up to 85,000 slayer experience per hour.
  • When Barraging dust devils, players can get up to 75,000 slayer experience per hour.
  • When cannoning Kalphites, players can get up to 75,000 slayer experience per hour.
  • When cannoning trolls, players can get up to 50,000 slayer experience per hour.

The players should extend these tasks to get better Slayer experience rates, use a good block list, then skip the rest while maintaining a stable Slayer reward point.

Conclusion

Slayer is one of the skills, if not the slowest, to obtain, since the experience it grants is based on the health of the monsters you kill. However, this isn't entirely a bad thing; it actually makes the skill more diverse because you're constantly switching between tasks, and in that respect, it's important to know which ones to do and which ones to skip. While you can't block all of them, due to the task blocking limit slot, make sure to try them all first and then block the ones you find most tedious. Good luck grinding for level 99 Slayer, and hopefully, you can flex your cape!
