OSRS Varlamore AFK Thieving Guide: Worlds & XP Rates

Introduced with the Varlamore expansion, Stealing Valuables is a two-part Thieving activity that offers a low-intensity, AFK-friendly training method. The Varlamore AFK Thieving method offers a balanced approach between experience gain and profit while being less click-intensive than traditional methods. It's especially beneficial for players seeking a more relaxed training experience without sacrificing efficiency.

Part 1: Pickpocketing Wealthy Citizens

• Requirement: Level 50 Thieving
• Location: Civitas illa Fortis in Varlamore

• Mechanics: Every 84-99 seconds, three street urchins (Leo, Bazaar, Julia Aurelia) will simultaneously distract one each for approximately 20 seconds to steal from wealthy citizens to obtain house keys. Each successful pickpocket grants 96 Thieving XP and 85 coins. Players who wear the full rogue's outfit will receive double the house keys acquired.

Part 2: Robbing Houses

• Mechanics: Use the acquired house keys to unlock and loot valuables from nearby houses. At any given moment, only one of the three houses is available for robbery. To help track down the correct house, players with house keys can pay 15 valuables to one of the nearby urchins--Lucia, Oli, Rufus, or Ava--for a tip on which house is currently empty or about to be.

• XP Rates: Approximately 5,000-5,600 XP per key, translating to around 100,000 XP per hour at levels 90-99.
  
• AFK Potential: Each house robbery offers about 30-45 seconds of AFK time.

Part 3: Selling valuables

The valuables you earn during your mischiefs can be sold to an NPC named Oriana, who can be found standing just outside the Fortis west bank. Each valuable costs 55 coins, but if you have earned the Gladiator rank at the Fortis Colosseum, which requires 8,000 glory, you can sell them for 65 gold each. You can expect to get about 90 K- 125 K gp per hour.

Recommended Worlds

To minimize competition and maximize efficiency, consider using less populated worlds or those designated for specific activities. While there isn't a universally agreed-upon list of optimal worlds for this activity, experimenting with different worlds during off-peak hours can yield better results.

Tips & Mechanics

• Avoiding the 'Tired' Debuff: If you receive the message "You feel tired and can't quite grab as many valuables as you'd like," it's likely due to prolonged activity or world hopping. To reset this state, engage in a different activity that triggers a system message, such as mining calcified rocks or pickpocketing wealthy citizens again.
  
• Loot Management: If caught while robbing a house, you lose approximately 90% of the valuables obtained from that specific house.
  
• Efficiency: For optimal XP rates, alternate between pickpocketing and house robbing to maintain a steady flow of keys and minimize downtime.
