OSRS Gnomeball Guide: Easy Western Provinces Diary

OSRS Gnomeball Guide: Easy Western Provinces Diary

Gnome Ball is a minigame where players aim to score goals against Gnomes in the northwestern area of the Tree Gnome Stronghold. Players must score five goals by throwing the gnomeball into the goal to win a match. Scoring a goal in a Gnome Ball match is a requirement for the easy western Provinces dairy.

How to get to the Gnomeball

Gnomeball location

There are several methods to get to the Gnomeball minigame:

  • Spirit tree: travel with this to center of the Stronghold, then walk north-west
  • Grand seed pod: Use this, then walk west outside the Grand Tree.
  • Balloon transport system to the Grand Tree: then go northwest
  • Slayer ring: teleport to the Stronghold Slayer Cave with this ring then walk northwest
  • Achievement diary cape:  teleport to the Elder Gnome Child with this cape, then walk northwest.
  • Gnome glider transport system to Ta Quir Priw: climb down and walk west, outside the Grand Tree.

Gnomeball mechanics

No items are required to play the Gnomeball minigame. As players enter the game, all weapons are automatically unequipped and placed in their inventory. To start a match, players must talk to the Gnome referee found at the entrance. He will ask if the player would like to participate in the minigame, and after they respond with “yes”, the minigame will start and the player will be given a ball.

The Gnomeball minigame has only 3 mechanics:

  • Pass: Players can pass the ball to another player or either of the 2 green gnome wingers by clicking on them while wielding the ball. The Gnome winger will always pass it back after a few seconds.

Gnome wingers are easily recognizable by the distinctive color of their clothing, which sets them apart from the opposing team's Gnomes.

  • Tackle: Players can tackle gnomes of opposing teams, knocking them out for a few seconds. Gnomes can also tackle players holding on to the ball, dealing 1-2 damage to them. The chance of successfully tackling or being tackled depends on the player’s agility level. Players with decent agility levels can walk right into the gnomes and they will fall on their backs.

  • Shoot: Players can shoot at the gnome goal by clicking on it while wielding the Gnome ball. The chance to successfully score depends on the player’s ranged level and proximity to the goal.

If you score, the cheerleaders will celebrate and shout “Goal”. You will also be rewarded with a point.

Strategy for Playing Gnomeball

The best strategy for playing the Gnomeball is to pass the ball to the Gnome winger after receiving it, run forward to the goal, and wait for the winger to pass it back. After he passes, shoot it at the goal. With this strategy, players can prevent the Gnomes from tackling them. But If you get tackled by one of the Gnomes, simply left-click them to tackle them back and retrieve the ball. This might fail a few times, so you should keep trying until you retrieve the ball from the Gnome.

Low-level players should bring food to heal from the damage from the Gnome’s tackles.

Scoring a goal in a Gnome match for Easy Western Provinces

Players must score a goal in the Gnomeball minigame to complete the Easy Western provinces dairy. After speaking to the referee, players with high ranged levels can move a few tiles forward and shoot directly at the goal. This won’t always work, but it is worth a shot for players with high-ranged levels who want to complete the task as quickly as possible.

Rewards for the Gnomeball

  • Players are awarded 4-7 agility and ranged XP for every successful goal
  • Winning a game will reward the player with an additional 25 XP in agility and ranged
  • Players who earn five points will receive a gnomeball after leaving the pitch. Gnomeballs are worth 29,500 GP each on the grand exchange.
