OSRS Artio Guide: Strategy & Gear Setup

OSRS Artio Guide: Strategy & Gear Setup

Artio is a level 320 monster located in the Hunter’s End. It is a weaker variant of Callisto and is safer and easier to kill. To fight Artio, players must have completed the medium wilderness diary. Players can kill Artio instead of Callisto when assigned to kill Callisto on a slayer task.

Killing Artio is profitable as she drops several valuable items at a decent rate. She drops the valuable voidwaker hilt, claws of Callisto, tyrannical ring, Callisto, cub, the dragon 2h sword, and dragon pickaxe.

Location of Artio

The Hunter’s End is the lair of Artio. It is a dungeon, north-west of Ferox Enclave in the wilderness. A fee of 50,000 coins is required for entry into this lair. Players don’t need to bring the coins, since it can be deducted directly from their bank.

The Hunter’s End is a single-plus area. Therefore, you may be attacked by other players during the Artio fight. So, do not bring any items you are not willing to lose. Although the Entrance to Hunter’s End is found in level 20 wilderness, the cave itself is in level 21 Wilderness, meaning items that can teleport players above level 20 wilderness are recommended to escape from Pkers. You can right-click the entrance of the Hunter End cave and click Peak to see if other players are inside. You can only do this if you killed the boss at least 20 times.

Strategy for Killing Artio

Artio can hit incredibly high using melee, so using melee against him is not advised. It is weakest to magic and ranged attacks, so you should attack from a distance using any of them.  It will use ranged attacks, which are much weaker, and attempt to close the distance if it is not frozen. Use Ice Barrage or Ice Blitz to freeze Artio while attacking with ranged or magic. This will bind it temporarily, so be ready to cast the spell again when it breaks free. The spells will hit Artio often even with minimal magic gear. You should always protect against ranged unless he does the knockback attack then you should switch to protect from magic and then back to protect from ranged after the attack

Artio’s attacks

Melee attack

melee

Artio’s melee attack deals high damage and has AoE capabilities. This means that it will target one player but will affect all players within a 3x3 square of the targeted player. Using Protect from Melee reduces the damage by 50%

Ranged attack

ranged

Artio can launch crescent-shaped projectiles at all players who are not in her melee range

Knockback

magic

Artio can attack players with a white orb-like projectile which will knock them back and deal damage if Protect from magic is not turned on. This attacks a single player but with AoE capabilities. It will knock back the player by 3 tiles and they will take 5 damage. The damage increases by 15 for each tile of knockback interrupted by an object. This means the player will take 20 damage if they are 2 tiles away from an object and 35 damage if they are 1 tile away. The maximum hit is 50 damage if the player is directly next to an object and cannot be pushed back.

Artio will step back and charge up before performing this attack. Use this as a signal to turn on protect from magic to avoid damage.

Bear Traps

bear traps

When Artio's health is at 66%, it will deploy red, ghostly-like bear traps around the arena. This can deal up to 15 damage and will temporarily restrict the player’s movements if they get caught in it. At 33%, Artio will deploy the traps again, and they will reappear afterward with every attack she makes. You can walk over the traps if you stand one tile next to it and click the opposite side.

Escaping Pkers

Fighting Artio involves considerable risk, and players will inevitably run into Pkers while fighting him. It is recommended to place another account outside the entrance to scout for Pkers. This is effective for escaping PKer, giving you enough time to log out or teleport with your main account if a Pker is spotted. Amulet of Glory and Royal pod will work in this part of the wilderness since it is below level 30.

GP per Hour from Killing Artio

Each kill from Artio is worth approximately 74K GP or 76K GP while on Konar or Krystillia task. Players with the suggested stats and gear above can kill Artio 42 times each hour while banking and returning. This results in a profit of 3.1M GP each hour after the cost of supplies has been deducted. It is recommended that players often bank due to the risk of losing valuable drops to PKers.
