OSRS Barbarian Fishing Guide: 3 Tick & XP Rates per hour

OSRS Barbarian Fishing Guide: 3 Tick & XP Rates per hour

The Barbarian fishing is a part of the Barbarian training miniquest, other expansions of this miniquest include Farming, Firemaking, Herblore, and Smithing. Players can start Barbarian fishing by speaking to Otto Godblessed in his Grotto at the lake atop Baxtorian Falls; his location is shown below. Otto will introduce the player to Barbarian fishing, which allows them to fish with a heavy rod and barehanded.

Location For Barbarian Fishing

Barbarian fishing can be done in the lake next to Otto’s Grotto. Here are the fastest ways to get there

Location For Barbarian Fishing

  • Games necklace: Players can use the games necklace to teleport to the Barbarian outpost and then run south to Otto
  • Barbarian Assault minigame teleport: Only players who have completed the Barbarian Assault tutorial can use this teleport. It teleports the player to the Barbarian Assault then they can run south to get to Otto.

Barbarian fishing with Heavy Rod

Barbarian fishing with a Heavy rod is a low-effort training method. To start, Talk to Otto and ask “What can I learn about the use of a fishing rod”, continue the conversation, and he will tell you to search under his bed to obtain a Barbarian rod. There are several fishing spots around the lake next to Otto, fish from these spots while wielding this rod to catch a leaping fish.

You can also get cooking experience from successfully gutting the leaping fish with a knife; you will obtain a roe and caviar. The roe and caviar can be used as bait if there are no other types of bait in the player’s inventory. At 80 cooking, it is impossible to fail cutting Salmon and Sturgeon.

Ensure the shift-drop option is enabled, hold shift, and click each fish to clear your inventory when it is full. This is a lot easier than right-clicking to drop the fish.

Different fishing, strength, and agility levels are required to catch different types of fish when Barbarian fishing;

How to do the 3-tick Barbarian Fishing with a Heavy Rod

  • First, ensure you bring the required items above.
  • Position the items in your inventory as shown in the image below

             3-tick Barbarian Fishing with a Heavy Rod

  • Click the fishing spot to start to fish, then immediately click the swamp tar and use it on the clean Tarromin after 3 ticks. This would allow you to get experience in 3 ticks instead of 5 ticks when AFK.
  • Right after the step above, click the fishing spot again and repeat the process.

If you wait too long after using the swamp tar on the clean Tarromin, a Tarromin tar will form. You should drop this, remove grimy Tarromins from your herb sack, clean one, and click the herb sack to fill it with the grimy ones, then continue training with the clean then
