OSRS Birdhouse Run Guide: XP Rates, Best Seeds, Locations

Birdhouse Run is a hunter technique that players use to catch birds and earn hunter experience passively. It involves setting up bird houses on Fossil Island after filling them with seeds, it is similar to farm runs, but it has a shorter waiting time. Players have to wait 50 minutes for the bird houses to passively fill with birds. Birdhouse runs are also profitable, as the player gets several types of bird nests as a reward.

Here are the locations to setup Bird house traps

locations to setup Bird house traps<

  • The fastest way to get to these locations is through the Digsite pendant
  • Players can also board the barge at the digsite to Fossil Island and then run to the right location

Bird house Runs

A bird house that is set up at one of the four locations will catch birds in an average of once every 5 minutes. After setting up bird houses in all four locations once, the players will not need to bring more clockworks, since the clockwork they used to set up a bird house trap will be returned to them after the loot in it has been collected. Players only need to bring a hammer, chisel, logs, and seeds each time.

Inventory and Gear Setup

When doing Birdhouse runs, the player's inventory should have:

  • Clockwork
  • Logs
  • Chisel
  • Hammer
  • Seeds
  • Digsite pendant or any other teleport
  • Weight-reducing clothing and stamina potions

When doing bird house runs, Here is the best sequence to increase efficiency;

  1. First, teleport with the digsite pendant to get to Fossil Island and use the magic mushtree to Verdant Valley. Players should first check or set up a birdhouse in the northern location and then the southern location.
  2. Next, teleport with the mushtree to the Mushroom Meadow and run north to check/setup a birdhouse.
  3. Lastly, run south to the Tar Swamp to check the final birdhouse

Rewards from Birdhouse runs

After 50 minutes, the birdhouses become full and players can collect their loot and experience from all 4 birdhouses they have set up. The guaranteed rewards from each birdhouse are:

Seed nests

These are bird nests with seeds inside of them, they can be obtained in varying numbers depending on the tier of the birdhouse set and the player’s hunter level.

Other nests

Other rewards can also be gotten, but not consistently. The nest table will be rolled 10 times. The likelihood of a successful roll is determined by both the type of birdhouse and the Hunter level, with more nests available at higher Hunter levels and on higher-tier birdhouses.

These other nests include:

Clue nests:
