Cerberus is a hellhound boss found beneath the Taverley dungeon. Players can’t kill this boss unless assigned to kill Hellhound or Cerberus herself on a slayer task. Killing her gives good combat experience compared to other bosses due to her low defence.
She is also profitable, as players have a decent chance to get some of her rare drops. Cerberus drops the eternal, pegasian, and primordial crystals used to upgrade the infinity, ranger, and dragon boots. She can also drop the smouldering stone, jar of souls, and the hellpuppy pet.
91 Slayer: Players can use the wild pie to boost their slayer to 91 from 86 Slayer.
Cerberus is located in her lair in the northeast section of the Hellhound area within the Tarverly Dungeon. Before entering her lair, players will meet Key Master, who guards three iron gates, leading to Cerberus. He will only allow players who are assigned to kill Cerberus or Hellhounds as a slayer task to fight it.
When you enter Cerberus’ lair, you will find three paths. Enter any of these to get to Cerberus’ lair.
Here are the fastest methods to get here:
The suicide method is an effective method to take additional supplies to Cerberus’s lair, requiring only a looting bag. To do the suicide method, fill your inventory and looting bag with supplies and food, then die in his lair. Upon death, The supplies would remain on the floor in Cerberus’s lair, so you can return and pick them up during the fight. It’s best to do this twice before fighting Cerberus, as this would allow for longer trips.

Cerberus has a low defence level and is weak to melee attacks, especially crush-based ones. She is also weak to attacks from the Twisted bow and Arclight, which should be set to stab. Cerberus cannot be attacked when she spawns, instead, she would have only the examine option. When she detects the player, she will stand up to attack the player and become attackable.
The Cerberus becomes easy to kill after you learn how to avoid her attacks discussed below. You should pay more attention to the lava pool and the summoned souls, as these are the most dangerous.
Cerberus has three types of attack, each with a maximum hit of 23. The right protection prayer can prevent damage from them.
Melee
Cerberus will bite the player. She will only use this attack if the player is within melee range.
Ranged
Cerberus will fire translucent spiky balls from her front legs while standing on her hind legs
Magic
Cerberus will lower her head and fire a smooth black ball
Triple attack
Cerberus will use a magic, ranged, and then melee attack, each 2 ticks apart during this attack. She will perform the melee attack even if the player is not in melee range. The Cerberus performs the Triple attack first and repeats it after 10 attacks. This attack also has a maximum hit of 23. Protection prayers can block this attack, but they must be timed correctly. This attack is quick, so start with protection from magic then switch protection prayers accordingly, right after the previous one lands.
Summoned Souls
Cerberus will summon three souls after every seventh attack if her health falls below 400, Before this attack, Cerberus will howl “Aaarrroooooo” and they would appear from behind the archaic skull and cannot be harmed. Their colours determine their attack style; Red uses melee attacks, Blue uses magic attacks and Green uses ranged attacks.
The souls appear in a random order, each attacking once from west to east before disappearing. Their attacks can deal up to 30 damage if the right protection prayer is not used; an Elysian spirit shield reduces this damage to 22. They will drain 30 prayer points instead when protection prayers are used; a Spectral spirit shield reduces this to 15 prayer points.
Their attacks are also quick, so you should pray before they perform the attack. Right before they appear, wear the spectral shield and the inquisitor’s mace (or any one-handed weapon), since the Scythe of Vitur is a two-handed weapon, and keep your prayer points between 30 and 45 which is the most efficient range with the spectral shield or at least 65 prayer without the shield. When they appear, pray based on the colour of the westernmost soul, then switch protection prayers accordingly after each hit lands or when your prayer level reduces.
Lava pools
When Cerberus’s health is below 200, she will deploy three lava pools - one where the player is standing and two at random parts of the area. Standing in the radius of the lava pools when it spawns deals 10 damage. Standing directly on a pool deals 15 damage every two ticks, while standing adjacent to a pool deals 7 damage every two ticks. Players should move from where they are standing while avoiding the other lava pools to prevent damage from this attack
Fire Wall
The fire wall is a barrier that prevents players from killing Cerberus from a certain distance. Moving past the Fire wall deals 5 damage each time the player passes through it, and it does not disappear unless the player dies fighting Cerberus.
Auto-healing
Cerberus can fully restore her hitpoints when no player is in her chamber, and she won’t take any damage when she first spawns until she stands up.
Here is a sequence of Cerberus’ attacks leading up to attack 28. You should count her attacks when anticipating them and avoiding them better.
The average Cerberus kill is worth approximately 86K GP or 88K while on a Konar task. Excluding a Primordial crystal drop, the average is worth approximately 35K GP. If you have the suggested combat stats above and the Scythe of Vitur, you should be able to kill Cerberus 52 times each hour, resulting in roughly 3.2M GP per hour.
Using the Twisted bow, Arclight, or Abyssal bludgeon will lower kills to about 40 each hour.
