OSRS Corrupted Gauntlet Guide: Strategies & Rewards

OSRS Corrupted Gauntlet Guide: Strategies & Rewards

The Corrupted Gauntlet is a very popular solo minigame in Prifddinas. During the minigame, players are given time to gather resources and kill corrupted monsters within a dungeon. In the end, players have to kill the Corrupted Huntlef, the boss of the minigame. It is a level 674 wolf-like monster which is quite tough and requires some practice to kill consistently.

Players are not allowed to bring any item into the Gauntlets. All items players wear when they enter the minigame will be automatically stored. Also, skill boosts will be removed when they enter the Gauntlet. The Gauntlet area contains several gathering methods for players to make weapons, armour, potions, and food described below. This area also contains resource nodes, herbs, and fish which can be obtained through mining, woodcutting, and fishing.

Completing the Gauntlet is a popular money-making method as players are awarded various loot like corrupted armour seeds, enhanced corrupted weapon seeds, and the Bow of Faerdhinen. If you leave early or die during the minigame, you will be awarded a small token reward based on your performance, but there is no chance of getting any of the unique drops. Note that this minigame is dangerous and hardcore ironmen would lose their hardcore status if they die.

  • Completion of Song of the Elves quest: This required to gain access into Prifddinas.
  • Completion of the Gauntlet at least once.

  • 85+ attack
  • 85+ strength

You can return to Prifddinas by clicking the portal at the center. When you start the minigame, you will be in the starting room. A corrupted sceptre, axe, pickaxe, harpoon, pestle and mortar, and teleport corrupted will be in your inventory, and you will be wielding a corrupted Sceptre. These items are needed to explore the nodes.

 how to get corrupted gauntlet

Players can use any of the following items to get to Prifddinas quickly: Teleport corrupted, Prifddinas teleport tablet, Teleport to house if your POH is in Prifddinas, Spirit tree, Iowerth camp teleport, charter ship or a necklace of passage to Jorral’s outpost.

The Corrupted Gauntlet

The Corrupted Gauntlet is a more challenging version of the Gauntlet. Here are the main differences between these two versions:

  • The Corrupted Hunllef is red and has 1,000 hitpoints with increased stats and damage.
  • All items and monsters are corrupted instead of Crystal. Corrupted items still have the same stats and qualities as the crystal ones and corrupted monsters have the same mechanics and drop table, but have increased combat stats.
  • Players are given 7:300 minutes to prepare instead of 10:00 minutes
  • The Corrupted gauntlet summons an extra tornado per attack.
  • Completing Corrupted Gauntlet gives an additional roll on the standard loot table.

The Basics

Players are supposed to gather food and resources from the resource nodes to make armour within a limited time (7 minutes) which would be needed to face the boss, Hunllef. Every room in the Gauntlet contains a resource node and may have monsters, except for the starting and the boss rooms.

Resource nodes

There are five types of resource nodes. Each resource room contains a maximum of 5 of any resource node or a combination. Here are the different types of resource nodes:

  • corrupted depositCorrupted Deposit: Each corrupted deposit contains 3 corrupted ore that can be mined and used to create armour within the Gauntlet.
  • Linum tirinumLinum Tirinum: Each Linum Tirinum contains 3 Linum tirinum which can be collected and used to create armour within the Gauntlet.
  • phren rootsPhren Roots: Each Phren root contains 3 Phren barks, which can collected and used to create armour within the Gauntlet.
  • grym rootGrym Root: Each Grym Root contains one grym leaf, which can be collected and used to create Egniol potions within the Gauntlet.
  • paddlefishFishing spot: Each fishing spot contains four raw paddlefish which can be fished and used for food within the Gauntlet. A Paddlefish heals 20 hitpoints when cooked and counts as a water source to fill vials.

Collecting resources from the resource nodes will randomly reward the player with corrupted shards.

Monsters

Nine different types of monsters can be found within the resource rooms, which can be categorized into 3 types:

  • Demi bosses:  corrupted Bears (level 258), corrupted Dragons (level 258), and corrupted Dark Beasts (level 258).
  • Strong monsters: corrupted Unicorns (level 64), corrupted Scorpions (level 89), and corrupted Wolves (level 102).
  • Weak monsters: corrupted spiders (level 32), corrupted Rats (level 34), and corrupted Bats (level 48)

These monsters always drop the weapon frame used to create the lowest-tier bow, halberd, or staff. They also drop

  • Corrupted shards,
  • Raw paddlefish
  • Gyrm leaf
  • Teleport crystal (teleport to the starting room)
  • Corrupted spike (to create the higher tier halberd. It is a Guaranteed drop from the corrupted bear)
  • Corrupted orb (used to create the highest tier staff. It is guaranteed drop from the corrupted Dragon)
  • Corrupted  bowstring (used to create the highest tier bow. It is a Guaranteed drop from the corrupted dark Beast)

How to Make Armours and Weapons in the Gauntlet

Weapons

In the Gauntlet, players can make any of the following weapons:

 corrupted bowcorrupted bow (ranged),

corrupted hallberdcorrupted halberds (melee),

corrupted staffcorrupted staff (magic)

These weapons are available in three tiers:

  • Basic (tier 1): This can be created by using a weapon frame and 20 corrupted shards
  • Attuned (tier 2): A tier 1 weapon can be upgraded to tier 2 by using 60 corrupted shards on it.
  • Perfected (tier 3): A tier 2 weapon can be upgraded to an attuned weapon (tier 3) by using an Attuned weapon and a corrupted spike (for the halberd), corrupted orb (for the staff), or corrupted bowstring (for the bow).

Armours

The armour pieces in the gauntlet are helmets, bodies, and legs. Each piece has three different tiers that can be upgraded, similar to weapons.

Corrupted Tier 1 armour (basic)

Strategy for Defeating the Corrupted Gauntlet

The Corrupted Hunllef is always located in the center of the 7x7 grid of the Corrupted Gauntlet and lies adjacent to the starting room. The Hunllef is a level 674 monster with 600 hitpoints. He can protect against the player’s current attack style after every sixth attack, so you should bring weapons with different attack styles to defeat him.

  • The full basic corrupted equipment: this requires 3 corrupted ores, 3 linum tirinums, and 3 phren barks
  • Any 2 of the following weapons: Corrupted bow (perfected), corrupted halberd (perfected), or corrupted staff (perfected). Since the Corrupted Gauntlet requires at least 2 combat styles. Two weapons require 2 weapon frames and 2 of the following items based on the weapon you want to make: Corrupted spike (for the Halberd), corrupted orb (for the staff), or corrupted bowstring (for the bow).
  • 2 Egniol potion: This is used to restore energy and prayer points in the Gauntlet. To make an Eginiol potion, fill a vial with water at the water pump to get a water-filled vial. Use a grym leaf on the water-filled vial to receive a grym potion (unf). Use a pestle and mortar with 10 corrupted shards to get 10 corrupted dust. Then finally, use the 10 corrupted dust with the gyrm potion (unf) to receive an Eginiol potion (3)
  • Paddlefish for food: these can be obtained from fishing raw paddlefish with a corrupted harpoon and cooking it on the range in the starting room.

Required resources

  • 2 weapon frames
  • 3 corrupted ores, 3 linum tirinums, and 3 phren barks
  • 2-3 grym leaves
  • 320-520 corrupted shards
  • A corrupted bowstring and corrupted orb

Gathering resources

This Section shows the fastest method to obtain the resources needed for the equipment and inventory setup within the limited timeframe (07:30)

  • Kill the weak monsters in the room next to the starting room shown above to obtain a weapon frame and 100 corrupted shards.
  • Make a Clockwise or counterclockwise route from the starting room (run 1) as shown above. Collect the resources needed as you run through each room.
  • Return to the starting room and make a Corrupted staff (attuned)(tier 2) and 2 vials at the Sing Bowl. Grab as many raw paddlefish as needed with three corrupted ores, linum tirinums, phren barks, and two grym leaves. Also, fill your vial with water from the fishing spots while fishing.
  • Run around the outer edges of the Gauntlet to find a Corrupted Dark Beat and Corrupted Dragon (run 2) to upgrade the perfected corrupted bow and perfected corrupted bow (tier 3). Collect a second weapon frame and 220 shards for the second weapon during the run
  • Use the teleport corrupted to return to the starting room and cook the raw paddlefish, make the basic corrupted armour (120 shards), and make a corrupted bow (attuned) (tier 2) (80 shards). Finally, upgrade the corrupted bow to tier 3 and grind 20 corrupted shards to make 2 eginoil potions

The Gauntlet Plugin

The Gauntlet plugin is not required, but it is recommended when starting. Under the resources tab, you can input the right quantities of each resource you want and turn resources overlay. While running through the rooms, pick up everything you need by following the overlay. When the number in the overlay goes to zero, you have obtained all the resources you initially inputted.

Boss room

boss room

When you have enough food, good gear, and are ready to face the Corrupted Gauntlet. Enter the boss's room by passing the barrier to begin the fight. Ensure you learn all his attacks and the best strategy to defeat him, described below. At the end of the 7-minute and 30-second timer, players will be automatically teleported to the final room (boss room) if they have not manually entered.

The Corrupted Hunllef’s attacks

Hunllef’s standard attacks

corrupted huntlef

The Hunllef has two standard attacks; magic and ranged attacks. The damage from these attacks can be reduced using the correct protection prayers and wearing the corrupted armour pieces. You can predict when Hunllef is about to switch attack styles as it stomps the ground each time

Ranged attack

ranged Huntlef

Hunllef will always start the fight with its ranged attacks.

Magic attack

huntlef magic attack

Hunllef’s magic attack will occasionally disable all the player’s prayers. He makes a distinct sound when he is about to do this attack. You should use this as a signal to prepare for the attack

Hunllef’s Tornadoes

Hunllef can summon 1 to 3 tornadoes simultaneously, depending on his hitpoints. These tornadoes will chase the player and deal 10-20 damage if it catches them. These tornadoes disappear after 20 ticks (12 seconds). You should avoid the tornadoes by running away as they approach you, and wear higher tier amour pieces to reduce the damage.

Hunllef’s Stomp attack

If a player is underneath Hunllef when it tries to perform an attack, it  will perform a stomp attack, which deals up to 68 typeless damage. Always avoid Hunleff melee range to avoid this attack

Orange tiles

Corrupted gauntlet orange tiles

During the fight, the floor tiles randomly turn crimson and then orange. It turns orange quicker towards the end of a fight against the Corrupted Hunllef. Standing on the orange tile will deal 10-20 damage per tick. You should avoid them as they can quickly drain your hitpoints. The best way to do this is by avoiding the corners. Don’t stand too close to the corners, unless running away from tornadoes.

Corrupted Hullef’s max hit

  • Without armour, Corrupted Hunllef’s max hit is 16, and the max hit from tornadoes is between 15 and 30.
  • With Full T1 armour, Corrupted Hunllef’s max hit is 13, and the max hit from tornadoes is between 14 and 25.
  • With Full T2 armour, Corrupted Hunllef’s max hit is 10, and the max hit from tornadoes is between 10 and 20.
  • With Full T3 armour, Corrupted Hunllef’s max hit is 8, and the max hit from tornadoes is between 8 and 15.

Here are some important things to note when fighting the Corrupted Gauntlet:

  • Always pray ranged at the start of the fight.
  • Remember Hunllef will switch his prayer after every 6 attacks you do whether they deal zero damage or not. Anticipate this and switch weapons quickly.
  • Turn on the destination tile in the tile marker plugin. This shows the tile your character is on at all times. It helps when facing other monsters as well.
  • Set quick prayer to magic, as Hunllef can disable your prayer.
  • Enable F-keys using keybinds in your settings. This is extremely important. Use one for your inventory and the other for the prayer book. It allows you to switch between both quickly
  • It’s best to wait until you are low on health, then eat up to about 80+ HP by spamming on the food.
  • When the boss rears its legs and is about to do the Tornado attacks. Click a tile far from where you are standing to start running there, just in case you get unlucky and the tornadoes spawn where you are standing.
  • If the boss is too hard to defeat with tier 1 armour, try the t2 armour. However, they take longer to make since you need more resources and will reduce your kill per hour by 20-30%.
  • Practice: When starting, do not worry about getting the kill, instead focus on getting better and learning to evade his attacks. It is usual to die a couple of times when starting, so don’t get frustrated. Even when you are low on food and know your character won’t make it to the end of the fight, try to stay in there with the boss as long as possible to get better.
