OSRS Hellhound Slayer Task Guide: Cannon Locations

OSRS Hellhound Slayer Task Guide: Cannon Locations

Hellhounds are demonic creatures commonly assigned as a slayer task to mid and high-level players. They are good slayer tasks since they give good slayer XP, can be cannoned, and also have a chance to drop hard clue scrolls. Players must have at least 75 combat before they can be assigned to kill these creatures. Players with 91 Slayer can kill Cerberus as an alternative to a Hellhound task.

Location of Hellhounds

There are 8 locations where you can find Hellhounds but to get the best slayer XP, you should kill them in any of the 3 locations listed below.

Stronghold Slayer Cave: there are 13 spawns in this location. The fastest way to get here is through the Slayer Ring or the spirit tree from the grand exchange.

Catacombs of Kourend: there are 9 spawns in this location. The fastest way to get here is through the portal chamber or nexus in a POH attuned to Kourend Castle. Alternatively, players can use Hosidius's page in the Kharedst’s memoirs, or fairy ring CIS.

Wilderness Slayer Cave: There are also 9 spawns here. The fastest way to get here is by teleporting to the Ferox enclave and then running east to the level 18 entrance. Alternatively, players can teleport to Corporeal Beast and run east, use the wilderness crabs to teleport and run west, or use a burning amulet to Chaos Temple and run north to the level 18 entrance.

Hellhounds are pretty accurate, so it’s best to use tanking armour or proselyte for the prayer bonus while using protect from melee. Hellhounds are weak to all attack styles. However, melee is the cheapest option, and ranged would be the second-best option.

Strategy for Killing Hellhounds

Hellhound slayer tasks are fairly straightforward, since they can only attack with melee and can’t hit through prayer. Simply pray protect from melee and attack them. Cannons are quite useful as well and should be set in the middle of where multiple Hellhounds spawn. They will improve damage and make the Hellhounds aggressive to you, maximizing kills and making it more AFK.

Catacombs of Kourend

In the Catacombs of Kourend, it is a multi-combat zone so you will get attacked by multiple Hellhounds, allowing to be AFK while always being in combat with them. Leave the area and re-enter to reset their aggression when they become tolerant of you.
