The Hueycoatl is a draconic boss that players can battle either in a group of up to 20 players or within a private instance. While soloing the boss is possible, it presents a significant challenge, as certain mechanics are easier with a team. The Hueycoatl has several unique and valuable drops, including the Tome of Earth, Dragon Hunter Wand, Hueycoatl Hide, and Huasca Seeds, making it profitable to kill.
Players can create a group or solo instance by interacting with the meeting flag near the Bank Buffalo. Instance creation costs 50,000 GP, but players who have completed the Hard Combat Achievements can access it for a reduced fee of 25,000 GP.
Hueycoatl is in Darkfrost, a mountain in Varlamore, which has different entrances dug into by the Hueycoatl.

Players can start the fight by climbing through the chains leading to the boss arena. Hueycoat has 4 phases, and a player can quick-peek to see what phase she is in and how players are currently in:
Hueycoatl uses only two attacks with a maximum hit of 14:
These will spawn on the ground near players and lightning will strike any player still standing on them after 4 ticks.
the Hueycoat will launch feathers on her back at the team. Players must activate the corresponding protection prayer based on the colour of the incoming projectile. If the player uses the correct prayer, the damage from the attack is reduced to 0-2, if not, the attack can damage the player up to 14.
During these phases, ensure you watch out for Hueycoatl’s attacks and avoid them, as she would use them multiple times throughout these phases.
At the start of the fight, the entrance to Hueycoatl is blocked by a part of her tail.
Phase strategy: Attack all 5 parts of the Hueycoatl’s body to force the tail to clear the way. Each body has 250 hitpoints and does not attack.
When the path to Hueycoatl is cleared, players can move up the mountain and attack her directly. The seer will start to charge the 3 pillars located west of the head if the players are using the correct protection prayers. Players can charge the blue, red, and green pillars by praying protect from magic, protect from melee, and protect from missiles respectively. To charge all 3 pillars, the team must balance the number of players using each protection prayer. For instance, a team of 3 needs each player to use a different prayer, while a team of 6 requires 2 players to use a different protection prayer.
Every time a seer’s yellow bar is full, it will check if all 3 pillars are full (the active protection prayer is balanced for the team size) if they are, then the 3 braziers on top of the pillar will be lit and if not, the braziers will be extinguished. While the braziers are lit, the players are given a 30% damage buff. Teams usually plan what protection prayers each player is responsible for through chat between phases 1 and 2. The damage buff is important, so only switch protection prayers to prevent damage from Hueycoatl’s attacks when the seer bar is not full.
Note that If fighting Hueycoatl solo or duo, you can’t get the damage buff since the protection prayers cannot be balanced.
Phase strategy: Attack Hueycoatl directly while using the correct protection prayer and dodging his attacks. Note that you must use the correct protection prayer to charge the 3 pillars in this phase and the 2 subsequent phases. Only switch prayer when you see his rain fire attack and switch back after the attack
When Heuycoatl gets to 50% of her health, she will shield herself and her tail will appear from the western cave entrance, starting the 3rd phase. Players have to kill the tail for Heuycoatl to remove the shield from herself. The tail has only 400 hitpoints, but the damage players can deal on it is capped at 4 but increases to 9 if the player’s crush attack bonus is their highest attack bonus. All players should keep their hitpoints above 40 during this phase and use a weapon that can do multiple hits per attack to speed up this phase. Some examples are the dual macuahuitls, macuahuitl, glacial temotlis, or the Torag’s hammers. Using thralls is also very helpful.
The tail will change sides every 20 seconds and attacks done during the transition will not damage it. When it appears again, It will slam the ground and send shock waves that deal 20-25 damage. Players can avoid it by running through the shockwave at the correct time. Running diagonally through the wave is also a very effective way to avoid it. The best strategy to avoid damage is to set tile markers as shown below and click the first tile to stand on it when the tail disappears. When Hueycoatl reappears and the shock waves are released, click the last tile to stand on it as soon as the shock wave crosses it.
Phase strategy: Attack Hueycoatl’s tails on either side of the cavern while dodging the shock waves and Hueycoatl’s attacks.
After the tail is broken, the head of Hueycoatl can be attacked again, starting the final phase. In this phase, Hueycoatl’s attack speed significantly increases, so players must look out for the increased lightning strikes around the arena. Hueycoatl’s tail will also send out shockwaves every 15 seconds, and players must time it and move correctly to avoid being struck by it.
After the Hueycoatl is defeated, the player can use the bank buffalo by sliding down the slope to the east or she will respawn in 30 seconds. Players still in the summit when she respawns will be knocked back down the mountain to the starting point. The loot from the boss is awarded based on the damage the player dealt to the boss.
Phase strategy: Attack Hueycoatl directly and be more careful since his attacks are more rapid. Ensure you continue to use the correct protection prayers to charge the pillars while switching to protect from Hueycoatl’s rain drop attack and switch back after the attack
With the recommended stats above, players can kill Hueycoatl 7 times per hour. This results in a profit of 2.8M GP per hour after the costs of supplies have been deducted.
