Fletching is an essential skill for Ironman, it is used to make high-level arrows and darts which would be used for training ranged and slayer. Players can also make mid-tier ranged armour or weaponry at a certain fletching level which can be high alched for coins, making fletching one of the best methods for ironman to get GP.
To create a headless arrow, use the feather on the arrow shaft. A menu asking how many you want to make will open then, click all to make 10 sets of 15 headless arrows which would take about 12 seconds. Players are granted 1 fletching XP per arrow. It is quite helpful to train fletching with this method, since the headless arrows would be needed to make arrows in the future. Arrow shafts and feathers are stackable, so players can train other skills like agility, farming and even do quests while training.
It’s a good idea for players to train fletching as they train woodcutting. The logs they chop can be fletched into arrow shafts by using a knife on them. A regular log can be fletched into 15 arrow shafts. Arrow shafts stack, so players can do this process without banking. Players will get 1/3 fletching XP per arrow regardless of the type of log, but the number of arrow shafts scales with tier of log. Alternatively, players can buy the arrow shafts from the Darguad’s Bow and Arrow Shop located in the Ranging Guild, which requires level 40 ranged to enter.
At 30 woodcutting and 30 fletching, players can start chopping and fletching willow trees. Fletching willow logs is the fastest way to get arrow shafts at lower levels if you don’t have enough coins to buy them. Each willow log provides the player with 45 arrow shafts.
The fastest way ironman can get feathers is by buying them in packs from fishing shops, costing 2 coins per feather. They can also be gotten by killing chickens, which drop 5 or 15 of them at a time
Players will get 45,000 fletching XP per hour from making headless arrows
Every hour, players can fletch 42,885 headless arrows, worth 342,840 GP from 42,855 arrow shafts (42,855 GP) and 42,885 feathers (85,710 GP), resulting in a profit of 214,275 GP each hour.
Players need to fletch 123,660 headless arrows by using 123,660 arrow shafts on 123,660 feathers to get to level 52 fletching from level 1. It will take the player approximately 3 hours, and they will get a total profit of 640K GP
At level 52 fletching, making Broad arrows becomes the fastest method of training because broad arrowheads, feathers, and arrow shafts needed to make them can be bought in bulk. However, it is quite expensive. The player will spend 58 coins for every 15 Broad arrows made, and each broad arrow grants the player only 11 fletching XP. To be able to fletch broad arrows, players must purchase the Broader fletching perk for 300 Slayer reward points from any Slayer master
Broad arrowhead packs can be bought from any slayer master for 5,500 GP, and each broad arrowhead pack contains 100 broad arrowheads. The slayer masters usually have 800 in stock and restock them every 0.6 seconds.
The feather packs which contain 100 feathers can be bought from the fishing shops in Port Sarim or the fishing guild for 200 GP per pack. Arrows shafts needed to form headless arrows can be bought from the Darguad’s Bow and Arrows in the Ranging guild. He has 1000 in stock and restocks every 30 seconds. Since arrow shafts are stackable, and he restocks quickly, players can quickly purchase as many arrow shafts as they need.
Every hour, players will make 3,000 sets of 15 broad arrows which would cost about 2,821,000 GP on headless arrows and broad arrowheads.
Players can get passive fletching XP when fighting the Wintertodt. Wintertodt requires 50 firemaking, warm clothing, and food to participate. Fletching Bruma root in the Wintertodt’s location gives 0.6 times the player’s fletching level in XP. It has no fletching requirement, making it a good alternative for early fletching levels. Players are required to have at least 55 fletching before they can fletch maple logs into maple longbow(u). Each maple longbow (u) fletched offers the player 58 fletching XP. Players will get an average of 105,000 fletching XP per hour from fletching maple longbows (u), the XP rates are quite similar when stringing them.
Stringing the maple longbows(u) is very profitable for ironman and also offers decent XP rates. Players should high alch the maple longbows made to get 384 coins each, resulting in a total of 460,800 GP each hour. However, a lot of bowstrings would be required to do so. The best way to get the bowstrings is from temple trekking. Players can get up to 3,000 bowstrings per hour from this minigame. Alternatively, players can kill Zulrah for flax, which they would need to spin into bowstrings using the Spin Flax spell at level 76 magic. Players can get up to 1606 bowstrings per hour from killing Zulrah.
1500 Maple longbow(u), worth 24,000 GP can be fletched each hour from 1,500 Maple logs, worth 163,500 GP, resulting in a total profit of 97,500 GP after the cost of nature runes has been deducted. Players will also get 65,000 magic XP per hour.
Stringing the Maple Longbows gives the player a profit of 230,400 GP each hour. 2,400 Maple longbows can be strung each hour from 2,400 maple longbows (u) and 2,400 bowstrings.
Cutting redwood trees is a great way to train woodcutting, giving players up to 70,000 woodcutting XP each hour. Players can fletch the redwood logs they obtain into redwood shields at level 92 fletching. This requires 2 redwood logs and grants the player 216 XP per shield made, or 108 XP per log. Players can get about 150,000 fletching XP per hour from fletching redwood shields.
