TzTok-Jad is one of the hardest monsters in the game for beginner players. Players will be rewarded with the Firecape for defeating TzTok-Jad and Tokkul for Participating in the minigame. This guide describes the best strategy to kill Jad, making it easier for experienced and new players to obtain the firecape.
Knowing Jad’s attacks is essential when fighting him. He has an emote that precedes each attack, except melee. Players can use this to predict the incoming attack and use the correct protection prayer.
All of Jad’s attacks have a maximum hit of between 95 to 97 damage. You should be very careful as one big hit can end the fight.
The best strategy to fight Jad is to safespot him and trap all the healers. Following this method guarantees zero damage, but it is quite difficult to master. To get a good Jad spawn, look where the level 45 Tz-Kek spawns in wave 3 since Jad will spawn in the same location in wave 63. If it is a good spawn, continue with the rest of the waves. If it is not, you can leave through the exit and start again from wave 1.
Use sounds
Although it is possible to do this method without sounds, using sounds makes it safer. Turn on the sounds in the game settings and listen to the sounds to know what protection prayer to use. When you hear a fiery ball sound, turn on prayer against magic. Turn on prayer against ranged at all times until you hear this sound. There are only two sounds (ranged and magic) and they are easy to recognize
Jad can spawn in any of the 5 locations shown above, and the method to safespot him differs for each location. The red spawns in the image are the most dangerous since Jad can attack you when he spawns, while the green ones are easier since would get stuck in the areas indicated by the arrows image above
When Jad spawns south or southeast, he will get stuck on the wall on the eastern side of the Cave. If he spawns in the center, he can attack you and if he spawns southwest (red), he will move to the center location and attack you. If he spawns northwest, he will get stuck on the wall in the western part of the cave. Jad will only move in these directions if you start in the northeastern(blue) part of the cave
When you can’t see Jad at the start of the fight, turn on protect from ranged. If he uses a mage attack, switch to protect from magic, and after the mage attack hits you, switch back to protect from ranged. Continue this pattern till the end of the fight.
After killing the last boss in wave 62, Jad will spawn in 8 seconds. If you can’t see his feet after 10 seconds, he didn’t spawn in the center or southwest locations (red spawns). Check the walls on the Eastern and Western parts of the Cave to find where he is stuck.
When you find Jad, you need to lure him to the safespot. The method to lure him is different when he is stuck on either the eastern or western wall or when he is not stuck at all (center and southwest spawns)
When Jad is not stuck at all (center and southwest spawns), wait for him to hit you, then run past him to the southeast corner. Make sure you don’t get close to his melee range. While at the southeastern corner shown above, wait for him to hit you again, then run back to the northeastern corner you started from. Wait for him to hit you again, and he will be stuck at the location shown in the image above. Move to the safespot and continue to attack Jad.
When Jad spawns at the northwestern location, you should run in the same pattern shown above. Make sure you avoid Jad’s melee range and wait for him to hit you when you get to every corner.
Here is the safespot tile, ensure you are standing in the same spot
When Jad is stuck at the eastern corner, run to the northwestern corner and wait for him to hit you. After he hits you, run to the southeastern corner shown in the image above and wait for him to hit again. Run back to the northeastern corner you started from; when he hits while you are at this location, he should be stuck at the position shown above. Run to the safespot shown and attack Jad
When Jad gets to half hitpoint and the healers spawn, you should first wait until they are all in position behind jad, then attack each of them to lure them. They will get stuck if Jad is in the right spot in the image above. Ensure you maintain the safespot when you attack them. When they are all stuck, you should continue to attack Jad till he is dead. This method will only work with longrange weapons like Karils crossbow, magic shortbow, and not with the blowpipe (unless you use the long-range option for a blowpipe, but you will get defence experience).
If you have successfully killed Jad, congratulations! You will be awarded the prestigious Fire Cape along with 8,032 Tokkul (16,064 Tokkul after completion of the Elite Karamja Diary). You can exchange unwanted fire capes with TzHaar-Mej-Jal to get 8,000 Tokkul or a second chance at Tzrek-jad. Exchanging the cape increases your chance of receiving the pet to approximately 1/101 or 1/67 while on a slayer task.
