OSRS Kraken Boss Guide: Strategy & Gear Setup

OSRS Kraken Boss Guide: Strategy & Gear Setup

The Kraken is a stronger version of the Cave Kraken. You’ll often see high-leveled players with high Kraken kill count because it is quite easy and relaxing to kill, even with mid-level combat stats. Along with its non-boss variants, it is the only monster that drops the Trident of the Seas and the Kraken Tentacle, making it a popular target for players seeking these valuable items. The Kraken can only be attacked if the player has been assigned to kill Cave Kraken, which requires level 50 magic.

Location of the Kraken

The Kraken is submerged underwater in the Kraken Cove. Here are the fastest ways to get here

fastest way to get to Kraken

  • Fairy ring AKQ: this is the best method to get to the Kraken. It teleports the player east of the Cove.
  • Piscatoris teleport scroll or Western banner 3 or 4: This would work fine for players who don’t have the fairy ring unlocked. It teleports players to the Piscatoris fishing colony. Run south-west from here to get the Kraken Cove.

crevice

While in Kraken Cove, click to enter the crevice located north to enter her lair. Players can right-click the crevice and click private to fight the Kraken privately, without other players. This cost 25,000 GP which can be deducted directly from the player’s bank, so they don’t have to bring the coins with them.

Strategy for Fighting Kraken

The fight is very easy, as the Kraken has no unique attacks. Attack it and eat when necessary. If you kill the Kraken in private mode, the loot will stay on the ground for up to 30 minutes. This is useful to players who are AFK as they can let the loot pile up on the ground, and then pick them before the 30 minutes elapse.

Kraken’s attacks

Kraken attacks

After entering the Crevice, use your fishing explosives on the whirlpool to make the Kraken emerge from the water. Players facing the Kraken will be attacked by the Kraken itself and by 4 Enormous tentacles. They attack with a typeless magical ranged attack. A magical ranged attack implies that the ranged attack bonuses of the Kraken and the magic defence bonuses of the player decide the attack's accuracy. Typeless means that protection prayers will not work against it.

Attacks from the 4 Enormous tentacles

The attacks from these tentacles have a max hit of 2. They are accurate and have an attack speed of 4 (every 2.4 seconds).

Attacks from Kraken

The attacks from Kraken have a max hit of 28. It also has an attack speed of 4 (2.4 seconds) but it is not as accurate as the attacks from the Enormous tentacles.

GP per hour from Killing the Kraken

The average Kraken kill is worth approximately 21,000 GP, or 23,000 GP while on a Konar task.

With the recommended stats above, players can kill the Kraken up to 55 times each hour. This results in roughly 1.4M GP per hour.

The profit per hour is 850K GP after deducting the costs of using a decent weapon and food.
