There are several magic weapons available in OSRS and the type a player uses is extremely important, it improves their maximum magic damage and accuracy, and like most combat weapons, its bonuses scale with the player’s level. Magic weapons can be divided into items that can auto-cast combat spells from the different spellbooks and weapons with specialized spells that have to be charged with runes and various tokens. In this guide, we have included all the best magic weapons based on their magic attack and defence bonuses, starting from the ones with the least bonuses to the highest.
We have included a table showing the magic weapon progression from the lowest magic and attack requirements to the highest. So you can make sure that you are always wearing the best staff possible to train your magic. We also included DPS on a sand crab so you have an idea about the damage output the different weapons have.

The nightmare staff requires 72 magic and 50 hitpoints to wield, it can be used to autocast offensive standard spells as well as Ancient Magicks. In addition, it gives a 15% magic damage bonus. The nightmare staff can be upgraded to the Eldritch nightmare staff by attaching an Eldritch orb to it, which gives a special attack. This attack consumes 55% of the player’s special attack to hit the target for a high amount of damage, and restores prayer points by 50% of the damage dealt.
