OSRS P2P Herblore Training Guide: Leveling 1-99 Fastest XP

OSRS P2P Herblore Training Guide: Leveling 1-99 Fastest XP

Herblore is one of the simplest skills to train in OSRS. This is because it takes only a few clicks to achieve maximum experience rates when training with the fastest methods. Training Herblore can be both expensive and profitable depending on the method used, it is profitable when useful herbs are cleaned and sold for profit but can be quite expensive when making potions that require expensive ingredients.

How does the Herblore skill Work

Herblore gives players the ability to make potions from herbs and other ingredients. These potions have a variety of effects like temporary skill boosts and other effects like anti-poison and antivenom. Herblore also gives players the ability to clean different tiers of grimy herbs.

Requirements For Herblore Training

Completion of the Druidic Ritual quest: This quest has no requirements and rewards players with 250 herblore experience after the completion., which takes players to level 3 herblore.

Useful Unlocks

Amulet of Chemistry

Amulet of Chemistry

If the player is wearing the amulet of chemistry while making potions, they will have a 5% chance of creating a 4-dose potion instead of a 3-dose potion, but no extra experience is given. The amulet of chemistry has no requirements and can be purchased through the grand exchange. Players, particularly ironman, can create the amulet of chemistry by enchanting a jade amulet with the level-2 enchant spell.

Each amulet of chemistry can hold up to five charges, and the player must replace it when one breaks to continue to get its effects. Each amulet can last for an average of 100 potions.

Quests that Give Herblore Experience

Several quests give herblore experience which can be used to skip past training some herblore levels. These quests include:

Quests that Give Herblore Experience

The last five quests which are: The Dig Site, Heroes Quest, Recruitment Drive, Jungle potion, and Druidic ritual should be completed when starting as they offer the fastest herblore experience rates for early herblore levels.

Fastest Methods of Training Herblore

Making potions: 3–99

Making potions is the fastest way to train Herblore, but it is also expensive. The grand exchange sells all the ingredients and bases needed to make any type of potion. The required ingredient and base should be combined to form any potion as shown below. To reduce costs or make a profit, the potions produced should be sold to the grand exchange.

It’s quite easy and relaxing to make potions, ensure you stand close to a bank then withdraw the right amount of base and secondary ingredients. Set the default withdrawal amount in the bank to the right number, depending on the amount of base and secondary ingredients you need to withdraw.

Experience rates and Cost of making potions

When making potions with decent speed, players can make about 2,500 per hour for potions that require 14 of each ingredient and base, 2750 per hour for potions that require 27 ingredients and 1 base, 2,330 per hour when making serum 207’s, 2,166 per hour when making super combat potions, and 1,667 for forgotten brews.

Tip: potions like the Serum 207s, stamina potions, extended antifire, anti-venoms, and extended super antifire potions can be made manually to speed up the rate to 1 tick per potion, up to double the experience rates, and potions made can be obtained with this method.

Below are all the potions, experience rates, and costs assuming the player can make the potions at the rate shown above.

Alternative method training Herblore

Cleaning Herbs

Cleaning Herbs

A grimy herb can be cleaned to form its clean variant by simply clicking it in the player's inventory, assuming the player has the necessary herblore level. Cleaning herbs to train herblore is a slow process, but it is simple and profitable with certain herbs.

The auto-clean method allows other herbs in a player's inventory to be cleaned automatically after one has been cleaned. Only 3,000 herbs can be cleaned per hour using this method. Manually clicking the herbs to clean them should be done when attempting to gain the most herblore experience; when done correctly, the player can clean 10,000 herbs per hour.

Experience rates and Cost of Cleaning Herbs

Players should expect more than a 30% reduction in these rates when using the auto-clean method.

Cleaning Herbs with Degrime

Cleaning Herbs with Degrime

Using the degrime arceuus spell requires fewer clicks to train herblore. Casting the Degrime spells cleans all the grimy herbs in the player's inventory, provided the player has the required herblore level. When the herb is cleaned with the Degrime spell, only half of the normal herblore experience is gained, which results in lesser experience rates.

Completion of the Kingdom Divided quest

Four earth runes and two nature runes are required per cast

Making Tar

Making tar is a cheaper and more AFK alternative to making potions, but it yields lower experience rates. Experience rates are primarily determined by your bank's efficiency and speed. Even if you can relax while making Tar, you must pay attention to get the best experience rates.

Players who want to use this method should buy swamp tar in advance, since its buy limit is only 13,000 and will only last approximately 30 minutes at full efficiency before running out.

Requirements for making Tar

The lowest type of tar that can be made is Guam tar, and it requires 19 herblore.

Experience rates and costs of Making Tar

  • Guam tarAt level 19, mixing Swamp tar x15 and Guam leaf to make Guam tar x15, players should expect 61,000 XP/hour. This costs -6.13 GP/XP.
  • Marrentill tarAt level 31, mixing Swamp tar x15 and Marrentill to make Marrentill tar x15, players should expect 86,000 XP/hour. This costs -3.18 GP/XP.
  • Tarromin tarAt level 39, mixing Swamp tar x15 and Tarromin to make Tarromin tar x15, players should expect 110,000 XP/hour. This costs -3.49 GP/XP.
  • Harralander tarAt level 44, mixing Swamp tar x15 and Harralander to make Harralander tar x15, players should expect 145,000 XP/hour. This costs -7.06 GP/XP.

Profitable Methods of Training Herblore

If the fastest methods above are too expensive, this section would be quite helpful for you. The methods below will help players get decent experience rates while making a profit.

Making Guthix rest

Guthix rest

Guthix rest is a tea that works like a potion. A dose will reduce venom to poison or reduce poison damage by 1, restore 5% energy, and heal 5 hitpoints. Making Guthix rest is a profitable method of training herblore, but it is also click-intensive, as only five cups of Guthix rest can be made per inventory. All the required items should be in the player’s inventory when making Guthix rest, after making one tea, the subsequent teas are automatically made, each granting 59 herblore experience. Note that the effect of the amulet of chemistry does not work when making Guthix rest.

Requirements to Make the Guthix Rest

  • 18 Herblore
  • The ability to make Guthix rest is unlocked during the One Small Favour when the Sanfew explains it to the player.
  • cup of hot waterA cup of hot water
  • Guam leaf2 Guam leaf
  • marrentill1 marrentill
  • harralander1 harralander

Experience Rates when Making Guthix Rest

If the players pay constant attention, they can make about 800 cups of 3-dose Guthix rest each hour, since each gives 59 herblore experience, this amounts to about 47,200 experience per hour.

Profit and Cost of making Guthix rest

It’s recommended for players to have a decent amount of GP before doing this method as it costs up to 1,375,200 GP every hour; this includes the cost of bowls of hot water, guams, marrentils, and harralander. Players can combine the 3-dose teas into a dose tea through Bob Barter at the grand exchange, shown below.

Selling the 4-dose tea will result in a profit of 135,600 GP every hour, or 2.87 profit per herblore experience.

Making Profitable Potions

Making potions like supercombat, super antifire potion, and extended super fire potion can result in a profit as well as fast herblore experience rates. However, players should take into consideration the capital that is required, as this can be quite high.

Experience rates and cost of making profitable potions

  • SupercombatWhen making Supercombat, players can get 329,400 experience and 870,000 GP per hour. It requires a capital of about 37M per hour.
  • super antifire potionWhen making super antifire potion, players can get 325,000 experience and 2,106,000 GP per hour. It requires a capital of about 32M per hour.
  • extended super antifire potionWhen making an extended super antifire potion, players can get 450,000 experience and 805,500 GP per hour. It requires a capital of about 29M per hour.
