Walkthrough of Ratcatchers

  • Bring the following items:  A non-overgrown cat.
  • Talk to Gertrude west of Varrock. Reply 1 to start the quest.
  • Go down into Varrock Sewer via the Manhole south east of Varrock Castle.

Gertrude

  • Talk to Phingspet in Varrock Sewer close to the entrance of the sewer.

Phingspet

  • Drop your cat, right-click, and select chase so it can catch rats west of the entrance. Continue until your cat catches 8 rats. A message will pop up when your cat has caught enough.
  • Talk to Phingspet in Varrock Sewer again.
  • Bring the following items: A non-overgrown cat
  • Talk to Jimmy Dazzler north of Ardougne Castle. Go through the entire conversation.
  • Read the directions. Reply 1.
  • Now you need to climb the trellis around the back of the mansion, avoiding the guards. Follow the directions below to do this.

Evading Guards in Ratcatcher

  • Start at tile A. When the south guard steps onto Blue Tile 1, run to Tile B. From there, immediately run to Tile C.
  • Continue north to get Point A below.

Evading Guards in Ratcatcher 2

  • Start at tile A. When the south guard is on blue tile 1 and the north guard is on any red tile 1–4, run to tile B. Once the north guard moves to any red tile 4–7, run to tile C. While the north guard is still on red tiles 4–7, continue to tile D and climb the trellis.  If you aren't caught, proceed immediately to tile A in Part 3, which is a safe point.

Evading Guards in Ratcatcher 3

  • Make sure the compass is set to north and the GPU plugin is on and set to the highest draw distance, so the camera shows the space as shown above. Start at tile A. When the west guard is on any blue tile 6–7 and the east guard is on any red tile 4–7, run to tile B and go through the door.
  • Catch the rat inside the room, but be sure not to stand in the doorway when the guard passes by.
  • Run back to tile A. Ensure the guards are not close when you do this. If you get caught and thrown out, quickly run back to tile A. Your progress will be maintained.
  • When the west guard is on any blue tile 4–7 and the east guard is on red tiles 6–7, run to tile C and go through the door. Again, avoid standing in the doorway as the guard walks by.
  • When the west guard is on blue tile 1 or 3–6 and the east guard is on red tile 1, run to tile D.
Inside, catch the 2 rats and go down the ladder. There will be no more guards from this point forward.
  • In the basement and the kitchen to the north, catch the final 3 rats.

Rats in the basement

  •  If one rat is missing or spawns outside the intended area, simply change worlds—this will force the rat to spawn correctly inside the room.
  • Talk to Jimmy Dazzler again in Ardougne.
