OSRS Revenants Money Making Guide: Stategy & Gear Setup

OSRS Revenants Money Making Guide: Stategy & Gear Setup

Revenants are monsters found in the Revenant Caves in levels 19 to 40 Wilderness. They are ghostly versions of creatures slain during the God Wars and have a valuable drop table with several high-reward items, including expensive armour, weapons, skilling resources, wilderness weapons, and ancient artefacts that can be exchanged for a good amount of coins.

Killing Revenants also gives good combat experience, generating up to 95K ranged experience. However, due to the profitability of revenants, there is significant player-killing (PKing) activity in their location, putting players at constant risk of being killed by them.

How to get to the Revenants Cave

There are three entry points into the Revenant cave; one in the north, middle, and south of the Wilderness. The higher end of the cave has limited escape options without level 75 agility and 89 shortcuts. Players without these stats are advised to use the lower-level entrances to increase their chances of escaping a PKer. The Revenant is a singles-plus combat area, so other players can attack you even when you are fighting a monster.

Here are the fastest methods to get here:

  • Ring of dueling or Minigame teleport: Players can use the ring of dueling to teleport to Ferox Enclave or Minigame teleport to Last Man Standing, then run north.
  • Burning amulet: players can teleport to the Lava Maze or Bandit Camp and then run.
  • Wilderness Obelisks: players can teleport to a level 35 Obelisk, then run north to the high-level entrance.
  • Waka Canoe: this requires 57 woodcutting to head into the wilderness. Run northwest from here to the high-level entrance.
  • Revenant cave teleport: This teleports players directly to the north entrance of the revenant caves at 40 Wilderness.

Going up the middle line will make it harder to escape PKers as you won’t be able to teleport out since it is above 30 wilderness. The lower-level Revenants are mainly located south, but there are a few north, while the high-level Revenants are all located north, making them more risky. The western part of the cave is best for medium-level players who want minimal competition from other players.

Gear Setup For Killing Revenants

While in the Wilderness, always reduce your risk by not exceeding the maximum amount of valuable items you can keep on death (three or four with Protect item). Ensure you turn off the Player ‘Attack’ option so you don’t accidentally attack a player and get skulled.

Ranged Gear setup

Head slot: Archer helm

Neckslot: Amulet of Avarice: this is the strongest amulet for killing Revenants. It grants a 20% boost to accuracy and damage while attacking revenants and notes their drops. However, it will make you skulled until you unequip it. This makes you a target for Pkers, increasing the risk substantially. Alternatively, Salve amulet can be used since Revenants are classified as undead creatures, its effects will work on them.

Cape slot: Ava’s assembler or ava’s accumulator

Body slot: Black d’hide body

Leg slot: Black d’hide chaps

Weapon slot: Toxic blowpipe

Glove slot: Bracelet of Ethereum:  This bracelet can be bought from the grand exchange or obtained as a drop from the Revenants. Wearing this is essential when fighting Revenants, as it prevents 75% of damage from them and makes them non-aggressive. Each hit will take one charge from the bracelet, and it can be recharged with Ether, which can also be bought from the grand exchange, You can toggle the bracelet to collect ether dropped by monsters and automatically charge itself

Boot slot: Snakeskin boot

Ring slot: Archers ring(i)

Inventory Setup Example For Killing Revenants

inventory setup for Revenant

  • Looting Bag: You can leave this open to place items you pick directly into it
  • Royal seed pod or dragonstone jewellery: any of these items can teleport players to safety at level 30 wilderness or below, as long they are not teleblocked. The Royal Seed Pod is the best option since it is cheap and a one-click teleport option. It is obtained after the completion of the Monkey Madness II quest.
  • Divine ranging potion: use super divine combat potion when using Melee
  • Stamina potion
  • Good food: fill the rest of your inventory with these
  • 3-5 Saradomin brews
  • 2-5 Blighted super restore

Escaping Pkers in Revenant Caves

One of the most popular methods to escape PKers in the Revenant caves is to cross obstacles they can’t cross due to the agility requirements. There are several obstacles throughout the cave, check the image of the cave above to find them. Also, try to be unpredictable with your movements and outrun the Pker, giving you enough time to log out. If you can exit the cave, leave and re-enter continuously. This might frustrate the Pker or give you enough time to log out.

If you have some experience with PKing, then fighting back is the best option. Bring good defensive gear and a ranged weapon. You might waste their time long enough for the tele-block to wear off or make them brew down, giving you an edge to survive the attack. You can also attempt to freeze with Ice Barrage and quickly log out.

Strategy for Killing Revenants

Revenants have very high accuracy and will often deal high damage. They use all forms of attack and will change their attack style based on the player’s overhead prayers and defensive bonuses. Any combat style will work effectively against Revenants, as they have a low defence level. Revenants are easy to kill, but the main issue is PKers which is why it is more beneficial for High-level players, as they can use better tanking equipment and tank hits from Pkers. The Revenants drop Blighted food, which helps extend trips; close the looting bag when picking this to keep it in your inventory.

Use protect from magic at all times during the fight, as magic is the revenant's most accurate attack. This will also reduce teleblock duration and prevent magic attacks from PKers since they usually first attempt to freeze players with Ice Barrage.

Magic Attack

The Revenants will attack with magic by default. Their magic attacks can momentarily freeze the player for a few seconds and damage up to nine other players on the same tile. It can be described as a weaker form of Ice Barrage.

Self Healing

self healing revenants

The Revenants can heal their health when it falls below 50%. After Revenants heal themselves, they can’t do so again for 15 ticks (9 seconds); this delay is known as cooldown. They are guaranteed a heal when they attack while their HP is below half, as long as they are not on cooldown. They can only heal themselves between 8 to 36 times before being unable to do so again.

GP per hour from Killing Revenants

The GP per hour from killing Revenants varies, depending on your combat stats and the Revenant you kill. Here is a list of the GP per kill for all revenants and where you can find them. Note that the price increases by 20% to 30% when the player is skulled as the chances of getting valuable drops per kill doubles, but this is very risky as you would lose all valuable items if you die.

Revenants below 30 wilderness include:

  • Hellhound: 24K per kill
  • Two Imps: 3K per kill
  • Goblins: 4K per kill
  • Hobgoblins: 15K per kill
  • Demons: 25K per kill
  • Orks: 28K per kill

Revenants above 30 wilderness include:

  • One Pyrefiend: 13K per kill
  • One Hellhound: 24K per kill
  • Two imps: 3K per kill
  • Cyclops: 22K per kill
  • Demons: 25K per kill
  • Dark Beasts: 30K per kill
  • Knights 38K per kill
  • Dragons: 37K per kill

To get the best profits (up to 4M per hour), kill Revenant Orks while skulled with a Craw’s bow. With 90+ ranged, you can do about 150 kills each hour while banking every 20 minutes. This results in about 4.2M GP per hour. Using a magic shortbow will reduce kills to 110 per hour, resulting in 3M GP per hour.
