Scorpia is a huge scorpion located underneath the Scorpion Pit. Fighting this boss is somewhat challenging as she can poison players for more than 20 damage and also hit up to 16 damage with her melee attacks. However, it can be rewarding as she is the only monster who drops the odium shard 3 and malediction ward, which can be used to forge the odium ward and malediction ward. Killing Scorpia is also one of the quickest ways to get a boss pet as she can be killed fairly often and the Scorpia’s offspring can be gotten at a rate of 1/2,016.
As previously mentioned, Scorpia can be found in the Scorpion pit, northeast of the Wilderness, as shown below. The Scorpion pit is a valley in the northern part of the Wilderness that stretches between levels 53 to 55. Players will find several level 14 scorpions on the surface of this pit. This location is a hotspot for PKers, the chaos elemental also wanders here, and it can deal a lot of damage, so players should be careful.
Here are the fastest ways to get to this location
It's wise to bring just 3 or 4 valuable items when heading into the wilderness, as there's always the risk of encountering a PKer. The gear listed below is solid, but if you have better equipment and are willing to take the risk, you should consider using it.
Head slot: Mystic hat
Neck slot: Occult necklace
Cape slot: Imbued God cape
Body slot: Zamorak monk top.
Leg slot: Zamorak monk bottom.
Shield slot: Book of Darkness or the Holy Book.
Weapon slot: Trident of the swamp, Players should use better weapons like the Harmonised Nightmare staff, Thammaron’s sceptre, and Sanguinesti staff if they can afford it.
Glove slot: Tortured bracelet: players should only bring this if they take the risk and can quickly turn on protect item if they get attacked by PKers
Boot slot: Ghostly boot
Ring slot: Explorer’s ring
This consists of:
Before entering the wilderness, make sure to set the player attack option to hidden to avoid getting skull-tricked. Also, double-check that you have the right items to keep upon death. Upon entry into the Scorpia’s lair, players will find several of her offspring. These are tiny scorpions that attack very accurately with ranged, which can deal a maximum of 2 damage and inflict poison for above 6 damage.
When Scorpia reaches 99 health or lower, she will summon two guardians which will heal her continuously when within a few tiles from her until they are killed or despawn. They can each heel Scorpia for 8 health every 1.8 seconds which is shown with a curse projectile animation, They only despawn if they do not heal Scorpia in 15 seconds, If they are killed, they will not respawn. Players can easily kill them or freeze them with ice burst/barrage or snare them and then lure Scorpia far from them to cause them to despawn.
A good strategy is to attack the Scorpia with an ice barrage, ice burst, ice blitz, or entangle to freeze her, this will work quite well due to her low magic defence. This will help you stay out of her melee range while attacking her with magic. Players should also use protection from missiles to prevent damage from Scorpia’s offspring. Optionally, players without a toxic weapon can also poison Scorpia with a few casts of Smoke blitz/barrage at the start of the fight to get a bit extra damage and reduce the time for each kill.
When she spawns the Guardians, players should wait till she is unfrozen, then freeze the Guardians and lure Scorpia far away from them, this would make them despawn. A good strategy to lure her far away from her guardians is to stand where you will be luring her just before she gets to half hp, then freeze the guardians immediately after they spawn. If done correctly, Scorpia should unfreeze very soon after you freeze both guardians. This requires good practice and careful timing.
It is a good idea to learn the fight with a friend to make it more relaxing and make your learning process smoother.
Here are some escape routes in case you run into Pkers when fighting Scorpia
