OSRS The Mimic Guide: Strategy & Gear Setup

OSRS The Mimic Guide: Strategy & Gear Setup

The Mimic is a level 186 sporadic boss that can be fought after presenting a Mimic casket to the strange casket in Watson’s house. To get a mimic casket, players must enable the chance to obtain it by interacting with the Strange casket. After this,  the elite reward casket has a 1/35 chance of being a mimic, while the master reward casket has a 1/15 chance. The Mimic is very easy to kill, especially with high combat stats.

Location of the Mimic

The fight against the Mimic starts immediately after the Mimic casket is presented to the strange casket in Watson’s house. The strange casket is located upstairs in the Watson’s house.

The fastest way to get here is through the Watson’s teleport. Alternatively, players can teleport to the Glade through the xeric’s talisman then run to the Watson’s house.

The Mimic’s Attacks

The Mimic has a series of attacks with a max hit of 24

Melee attack

If a player is in melee range, the Mimic will hit them with a regular melee attack.

Candy attack

candy attack

The Mimic will throw 6 candies at the player. Three of them are purple, one is red, one is blue and one is green. The red, blue, and green candies spawn the Third Age Warrior, Third Age Mage, and Third Age Ranger respectively. Always move away from these candles, or you will receive about 10 damage. There is no benefit to killing the monsters that spawn, as they drop nothing and will instantly respawn.

Stomp attack

This attack is activated if you walk under the Mimic or when she steps one tile forward to the player. For every tick (0.6 seconds) that the player is under the Mimic, they will receive damage. The damage starts at 1 but will increase by 1 after every 3 attacks, for a maximum of 6 damage. Simply step away from the Mimic to stop and reset the damage counter.

Strategy for fighting the Mimic

Before entering, drink stat-boosting potions and turn on Protect from Melee. While inside the room, use up your special attacks on the Mimic first and switch back to magic gear to attack her. Move around the room when the Mimic throws the candies at you and ensure Protect from Melee is turned on throughout the fight. Remember to Ignore the Third Age minions, as they don’t have any drops.
