Watchtower is a quest that explores the rising tension between Yanille and the ogres of Gu'Tanoth. You'll work to restore the city's magical Watchtower, uncovering hidden threats and gathering rare ingredients to protect Yanille from a looming ogre invasion.

  • Hold your space bar to skip through NPC dialog, and use number keys for chatting dialog.

Items requirements for Watchtower Quest

  • 20 coins
  • Gold bar
  • Tinderbox
  • Death rune (can be obtained during the quest)
  • Pickaxe
  • Dragon bones
  • 2 ropes (2nd rope can be obtained during the quest)
  • Guam potion (unf) or guam leaf and a vial of water (vial of water can be obtained during the quest)
  • Any light source (can be obtained during the quest)
  • Skavid map (can be obtained during the quest)
  • Pestle and mortar (can be obtained during the quest)
  • Bat bones (can be obtained during the quest, a knife or slash weapon is needed, grinding the bat bones before starting the quest to leave the pestle and mortar in the bank is also an option)
  • Jangerberries (can be obtained during the quest)

Recommendations for Watchtower Quest

  • 35 Combat level
  • Any instant teleportation method if you need to leave the Ogre cave
  • Weapon, armour, and some food
  • Stamina or energy potions
  • Anti-dragon/Dragonfire shield and antifire potions, or a super antifire, to greatly reduce the damage taken from the blue dragons in the Ogre Enclave (using both or just super antifire completely negates dragonfire damage)
  • 43 Prayer for protection prayers
  • Fast travel to the Watchtower and the Ogre Enclave (Yanille teleport, Teleport to house if your house is in Yanille, Nightmare Zone or Castle Wars minigame teleport, Ring of Dueling to Castle Wars or Fairy Rings to C•I•Q)
  • 39 Agility, 21 Ranged, 38 Strength, a crossbo,w and a mith grapple for the shortcut over Yanille's southern wall

  • Gorad (level 68) (safespottable)
  • Giant bat (level 27) (only if bat bones are needed).

 

Walkthrough of Watchtower Quest

  • Go up the Trells north of the Watchtower and up the ladder to get to the top floor of the Watchtower north of Yanille and talk to the Watchtower Wizard. Reply 1, 1, 1 to start the quest.

Watchtower

  • Bring 1 Dragon bone and 2 Ropes.
  • Search the far northwest bush, north of the Watchtower, for some fingernails.
  • Return to the Watchtower Wizard with the fingernails. Reply 1, 1.
  • Talk to Og, northwest of Yanille. Reply 1.
  • Use your rope on a branch to swing to the island west of Yanille.
  • Talk to Grew on the island west of Yanille. Reply 1.
  • Leave Grew's island through the Ropeswing, north of the island.
  • Bring armour and food, then enter the hole south of Gu'Tanoth.

  • Kill Gorad and pick up his tooth.

Safespot for Gorad

  • Talk to Toban on the island. Reply 1, 1.
  • Give Toban some dragon bones
  • Open the chest in the middle of the island.
  • Return to Og with his stolen gold, northwest of Yanille.
  • Return to Grew with Gorad's teeth on the island west of Yanille.
  • Return to Grew with Gorad's teeth on the island west of Yanille.
  • Return to the Watchtower Wizard with the relic pieces.
  • Bring 1 Ogre relic, 20 Coins, 1 Death rune, 1 Gold bar, and 1 light source
  • Talk to the Ogre Guard at the entrance of Gu'Tanoth and give them the ogre relic.

Gu'Tanoth

  • Steal a rock cake from Gu'Tanoth's market.
  • Talk to an Ogre Guard next to the battelement. Reply 1.
  • Attempt to cross the battlement again with a rock cake.
  • Jump over the broken bridge.
  • Talk to the City Guard. Reply 2.
  • Talk to the City Guard again.
  • Bring 1 Gold bar, A light source, 1 Skavid map, and Shields/potions that mitigate dragon's fire
  • Enter the Skavid cave entrance in east Gu'Tanoth.
  • Talk to the scared Skavid. Reply 2.
  • Talk to four other Skavids in their caves numbered 2 to 5 in the image above. Reply 1 with the first, 2 with the second, 3 with the third, 4 with the fourth.
  • Try to go through the gate to the southeast cave of Gu'Tanoth in the image above. Talk to the guard to give him a gold bar and go through.
  • Enter the mad Skavid's cave numbered 5 in the image above.
  • Talk to the mad Skavid. Reply 5.
  • Pick up 2 Cave nightshades in the cave.

Cave nightshade

  • Use 1 Cave nightshade on the guard in the Gu’Tanoth market. Then reply “I’m not scared”. Complete the dialogue, or you will have to get another Cave Nightshade.

Guard in Gu'Tanoth

  • Bring the following items: 1 Guam potion (unf), 1 Jangerberry, 1 Pestle and mortar, 1 Bat bones, 1 Cave nightshade, 1 Any pickaxe.
  • Return to the Watchtower Wizard and talk to him
  • Use some jangerberries on a guam potion (unf).
  • Use a pestle and mortar on some bat bones.
  • Use the ground bat bones on the potion.
  • Return to the Watchtower Wizard with the potion.
  • Use a nightshade on an Enclave Guard in the Gu'Tanoth market to enter the enclave again.
  • Run around the cave and use the magic ogre potion on each of the six ogre shamans scattered in the north, west, east, and south of the cave, while avoiding the blue dragons as much as possible. The potion instantly kills each shaman without causing you any damage. The final shaman will drop the cyan crystal, which is automatically added to your inventory.
  • Mine the Rock of Dalgroth in the enclave.

  • Return to the Watchtower Wizard with the crystals.
  • Use the crystals on the pillars.

  • Pull the west lever to finish the quest.
