Woodcutting boosts are very useful. They allow players to skip unnecessary training by slightly increasing their woodcutting level. Players need to consume food or potion, equip a certain weapon, execute a special attack, or be in a specific area to get this boost. This is especially useful when doing quests that require a certain woodcutting level, but you need more than a few levels.
Some woodcutting boosts can be bought directly from the grand exchange, and others have a more complex process before they can be obtained. Below, we have discussed how to obtain both categories of boosts without the grand exchange for the sake of ironman. The requirements for each boost have also been mentioned.
Woodcutting boosts are grouped into two types; visible and invisible boots. Players can boost their woodcutting level up to a maximum of +5 with visible boosts and +10 with invisible boosts
Visible boots are boosts that directly increase your woodcutting level; you can see this increase when you check your stats. This boost allows your character to chop logs or do quests they otherwise won’t be able to do. For example, if you want to cut a magic tree, but have a woodcutting level of 74, you can drink the Axeman’s Folly to boost your woodcutting by 1. This allows you to cut the tree until its effect wears off. Below are all the Visible boosts in OSRS.
Boosts | Level Increase | Visibility | Information |
Axeman’s Folly | 1 | Visible |
The Axeman’s Folly is a type of ale that temporarily boosts woodcutting by 1 and restores 1 hitpoint while draining strength and attack by 3. How to Obtain the Axeman’s Folly The Axeman’s Folly can be bought directly from the grand exchange. It can also be brewed if the player has 49 cooking by using 1 oak root, 2 buckets of water, 2 lots of barley, and a pot of ale yeast. To brew an Axeman’s Folly;

Mature Axeman’s Folly | 2 | Visible | This is the stronger version of the Axeman’s Folly, it is capable of boosting a player’s woodcutting level by 2 while draining Attack and Strength by 4, it can be created through the same brewing process as Axeman’s Folly; each batch of Axeman’s Folly has a chance to produce a mature axeman’s folly as shown above. |
Dragon Axe | 3 | Visible |
The Dragon Axe temporarily boosts woodcutting by 3 when the special attack is activated while wielding it; this action uses 100% of the special attack bar. 60 attack and 61 woodcutting are required to do this. It can be bought from the grand exchange. Ironmen can obtain the dragon axe by killing either Dagannoth Prime, Dagannoth Rex, or Dagannoth Supreme at a rate of 1/128 or by opening a supply crate from Wintertodt at a rate of 1/10,000. The Dragon Axe is probably the best boost available for both Ironmen and Mains due to how easy it is to obtain, the low requirement to wield and the number of level boosts it gives.

Infernal Axe | 3 | Visible | The infernal axe can also provide a temporal boost of 3 when the special attack is activated while wielding it. It also uses 100% of the special attack bar. It can be created by using a smouldering stone on a dragon axe, which requires 61 woodcutting and 85 Firemaking |
3rd Age Axe | 3 | Visible | Like the Dragon axe, the 3rd age axe temporarily boosts a player’s woodcutting level by 3 when the special attack is activated while wielding it. The 3rd age axe is a piece of 3rd age equipment, and it requires 65 attack to wield and 61 woodcutting to use. It is a possible reward from master Treasure Trails and cannot be made through any skills. Normal accounts can buy the 3rd age axe directly from the Grand Exchange. |
Crystal Axe | 3 | Visible | The Crystal axe can provide a temporal boost to a player’s woodcutting level by 3. This is done by activating the special attack while wielding the axe; Players are required to have 70 attack and 50 agility to wield the crystal axe and do this. The Crystal axe cannot be bought from the grand exchange and players have to create it, which requires 71 woodcutting and completion of Song of the Elves |
Spicy stew | ±0-5 | Visible |
These types of stews are obtained by adding special coloured spice into a stew. Each colour in a spicy stew affects different skills negatively or positively. When they are used correctly, they can temporarily boost any skill by 5. A special coloured spice can be obtained if a player’s cat or hell-cat successfully catches a hell-rat, which is located in Evil Dave’s basement in the house west of the Edgeville bank. These spicy stews are available to players who have completed the Freeing Evil Dave subquest in Recipe for Disaster, and they are not available on the grand exchange.

Invisible boosts do not directly affect your woodcutting level, and you won’t see any change to your character stats, however, they improve the rate at which your character can chop or gather logs. With invisible boosts, your character still won’t be able to do quests or chop logs that they don’t have the required woodcutting level for. Here are invisible Woodcutting boosts available in OSRS
Woodcutting Guild |
7 | Invisible | The Woodcutting Guild provides players with an invisible boost of +7 to their woodcutting level. This boost takes effect only while the player is inside the Guild and stacks up with visible boosts. The woodcutting guild is located at the southwestern corner of Hosidius. Players are required to have at least 60 woodcutting before they can gain access to it., The fastest way to get here is through the skills necklace. |
Woodcutting in Groups | 0-10 | Invisible | Players that chop the same tree are given an invisible +1 woodcutting boost for each player also chopping that tree, up to a maximum of +10 for 10 players. This bonus works for all trees except a normal tree, trees in the Woodcutting guild, or any tree grown through farming. |
