The Golem is a fun, easy quest set in the ruins of Uzer in the Kharidian Desert. You’ll get to use the golem to uncover what really happened to the city, and it’s perfect for newer players since the rewards are pretty solid.

- Hold space to skip through NPC dialogue and use the number keys to select chat options quickly.
How Long it takes
The Golem quest took me about 10 minutes to complete. It’s fairly straightforward, so most players should expect a similar time.

Normal accounts can buy all the items below from the Grand Exchange. If you’re playing an Ironman or prefer to gather them yourself, check the Ironman notes section.

- 4 soft clay: Mine 4 clay and use a bucket of water on each to make 4 soft clays
- 1 vial: Grab one from Jiminua’s shop in Karamja or Obli’s shop in Shilo Village.
- Pestle and Mortar: Also from Jiminua in Karamja or Obli in Shilo.
- Papyrus: Same—Jiminua or Obli’s shop has it.
- Shantay pass: Sold by Shantay. You’ll need this to get through the pass.

- Amulet of glory: to start the quest
- Waterskins: About 2 filled waterskins(4) should be good enough.
Walkthrough of the Golem
Repairing the Golem
Bring: 4 soft clay and a pickaxe
Recommended: Amulet of Glory, Digsite or Varrock teleport to start next section

Teleport with your Amulet of Glory or run to Al Kharid, then head south through the Shantay Pass. Run west to Uzer (the carpet isn’t unlocked yet), talk to the Golem indicated by the quest icon below, and reply 1 to start the quest.

- Use the 4 soft clay on the Golem in Uzer, one at a time. Then pick up the letter on the floor in Uzer (shown below) and read it.


Elissa in Digsite
Recommended: Digsite or Varrock teleport, Varrock teleport, Amulet of glory (to start next section)

- Next, head to the Exam Centre southeast of Digsite (shown above), talk to an Examiner, and reply 1. Search the bookcase in the southeast corner of the Digsite Exam Centre to grab some notes, then read them.
- Teleport or run back to Varrock and chat with Curator Haig in the museum indicated by the quest icon below. Reply 1, then right-click to pickpocket him for the display cabinet key and climb the east stairs to the first floor.

- Right-click to open the golem statue’s display case highlighted below.

Returning to Uzer
Bring: Empty Vial, statuette, pestle and mortar, papyrus
Recommended: Amulet of glory teleport to Al Kharid
- Head back out to the Uzer ruins and use the statue on the empty alcove highlighted below

- Turn each of the statuettes on both sides to face the door (north) as shown below.

- Once that is done, enter the portal highlighted below

Finishing the Quest
- Leave the throne room and head back outside to the Golem. Have a quick chat with him, then pick up some of the black mushrooms shown below.

- With a vial in your inventory, use the mushrooms on your pestle and mortar to grind them into black mushroom ink. After that, head north of Uzer and steal a feather from the desert phoenix marked by the quest icon below. You might fail a few times, but just keep trying and you’ll get it.

- Use the phoenix feather on the ink to get a Phoenix quill. Then, use the Phoenix quill on your papyrus.
- Use the strange implement on the Golem in Uzer and finally, use the Golem program on the Golem in Uzer to complete the quest.
Rewards from the Golem Quest

- 1 Quest Point
- 1,000 Crafting XP
- 1,000 Thieving XP
- 2 cut rubies, emeralds, and sapphires (collect these by using a chisel and hammer on the throne)
- Unlock the carpet ride from Shantay Pass to Uzer
The Golem gives quick Crafting and Thieving XP, plus some rubies that you’ll need for future quests especially if you are an ironman. Along with Demon Slayer, it also unlocks Shadow of the Storm, which is a great follow-up to this quest. The Golem is an important quest when trying to get mithril gloves.
