Children of the Sun is the introductory quest for the Varlamore storyline and the first quest in the Twilight Emissaries series. You must complete it before you can enter Varlamore. It’s also the first of many quests where you’ll need to closely follow an NPC without alerting them, so learning how this mechanic works here will help a lot later on.

General Questing Tips
- Enable RuneLite Quest Helper for smooth, step-by-step guidance. It clearly marks where to hide while following the guard, which makes this quest much easier.
- Hold the space bar to skip through dialogue and keep things moving.
- Use the number keys to select dialogue options quickly and avoid misclicks.
Recommendation
Varrock teleport: to start the quest
This quest is extremely simple, but the stealth-following section can fail if you rush, so take it slow.

Children of the Sun Walkthrough
Start the Quest
- Teleport to Varrock (Varrock teleport is fastest).
- Speak to Noah or Alina, who is east of Varrock Square.
Follow the Guard (Stealth Section)
This is the only tricky part of the quest.
- Your goal is to follow the guard slowly without getting too close or too far. I usually turn off run energy here—it helps match his walking pace and makes the whole section much easier.
- Hide in the marked spots as shown by the Quest Helper.
- If you stray too far behind or move too fast when he stops, you’ll fail.
- Follow him until he enters the building.
Report Back
- Go back to Sergeant Tobyn in Varrock Square.
Identify the Guards
- Sergeant Tobyn asks you to mark four suspicious guards around Varrock
Use your map or Quest Helper and mark the following guards:
- Guard outside Aris’ tent (south of Varrock Center).
- Guard west of Varrock Square — long hair, no helmet.
- Guard leaning on the north wall of Lowe’s Archery Shop (east of the square).
- Guard with a mace, northwest of Varrock East Bank.
Finish the Quest
- Return to Sergeant Tobyn.
- Climb to the roof of Varrock Castle and talk to him again to complete the quest.
