The Mage Training Arena (MTA) is one of OSRS's most unique and rewarding minigames for Magic training. This site is located north of Emir's Arena. A progress hat is required to access its four specializations, which are granted by an NPC at the entrance. The Mage Training Arena combines puzzles and skill development with free gameplays which Ironman players, in particular, should explore due to its rewards. A recent update has pleased most players, as it has sped up the four mechanics, making it quicker to earn points for rewards.
It consists of four separate rooms — each focusing on a different magical mechanic:
Each activity grants unique points, and you’ll need to collect a mix of all four to purchase rewards from the Rewards Guardian upstairs.

To obtain the Progress Hat, you need to speak to the Maze Guardian, who is at the entrance of this location.

You’ll need at least 33 Magic to participate in all four activities.

Optional but useful
To play the Mage training arena efficiently, you should use the Mage training arena plugin on RuneLite; it will show you the correct tile to stand on before casting the telegrab spell on the maze Guardian, allowing you to move the Guardian to the right spot as shown below.
The Mage Training Arena is located north of Al Kharid, in the Desert area.

Once inside, you’ll find

To earn rewards, you’ll need to collect Pizzaz Points from all four rooms.
Each room tests a different Magic skill, and together they provide Magic XP.

Objective
Solve mazes by moving the Guardian Statue using Telekinetic Grab.
How it Works
Cast Telekinetic Grab to pull the Guardian towards you.
Use RuneLite overlays — they highlight the correct sides and tiles.
Each maze completion gives 2 points.
Completing 5 mazes in a row grants 8 bonus points.
XP & Tips
Around 10–15k Magic XP/hour.
Use the RuneLite plugin for tile highlights — it saves massive time.

Objective
Use Low or High Alchemy on items to earn coins, which convert into points.
How it Works
Each cupboard gives random items; tag one to reveal all contents using RuneLite.
Always alch the item worth 30 coins — this changes every minute.
You gain 1 point per 100 coins, with bonus chances for extra points over 100.
XP & Tips
60–80k Magic XP/hour (with High Alch).
Always check the Guardian’s announcement for the current best item.
Right-click cupboards to take 5 items at once for faster inventory fill.

Objective
Convert bones into bananas or peaches and deposit them.
How it Works
Pick up bones, cast Bones to Bananas or Bones to Peaches, and deposit the fruit.
You get:
1 point per 16 bananas
2 points per 16 peaches
Avoid falling bones from the ceiling (they deal small damage).
XP & Tips
60–90k Magic XP/hour.
Bring Bones to Peaches tablets (for faster casting).
Spam-click the bone pile and deposit wall for smoother rotations.

Objective
Pick up shapes and enchant them for points.
How it Works
Use the highest-level enchant spell on orbs or shapes.
You get:
1 point per spell level
+2 bonus points for enchanting the highlighted shape
Double points for Dragonstones or every 10th enchant
XP & Tips
70–120k Magic XP/hour
Watch the overlay for the highlighted shape (changes every 24 seconds).
Shift-drop or deposit enchanted shapes into the inventory.

The Mage Training Arena offers moderate Magic experience while earning points rewards to be exchanged in the shop for unique items like the Rune Pouch, Infinity Robes and unclok activities like Bones to Peaches. The XP rates vary depending on your efficiency, spell choice, and the use of the RuneLite plugin, which speeds up room navigation and accuracy.
On average, players can expect the following experience and point rates per activity:
Telekinetic Theatre: ~10,000–15,000 Magic XP/hour
Around 150–200 Telekinetic points/hour
The maze becomes faster with practice, as you learn to predict Guardian movement.
Alchemist’s Playground: ~60,000–80,000 Magic XP/hour
Roughly 200–250 Alchemist points/hour
Keep track of the changing high-value items every minute to maximize coins and points.
Enchantment Chamber: ~100,000–120,000 Magic XP/hour
Around 4,000–8,000 Enchantment points/hour
Using high-level enchant spells (especially Dragonstone enchant) drastically boosts XP rates.
Creature Graveyard: ~50,000–90,000 Magic XP/hour
Typically 200–450 Graveyard points/hour
Using Bones to Peaches tablets or the spell itself improves efficiency and doubles point gain.

The magic training arena may not be the fastest way to train magic, but it is one of the activities that can be done in a relaxed way, since if you get bored with one modality, you can move on to another. With the new update, RuneLite plugins are now available, and there's never been a better time to try them out and get unique items (Rune Pouch, Infinity Robes, Wands, Bones to Peaches Spell and more) in the game, especially for Ironman players. Earn your points efficiently and enjoy the best midgame magic rewards OSRS has to offer.
