OSRS Abyssal Demon Slayer Task Guide: Strategy & Gear

OSRS Abyssal Demon Slayer Task Guide: Strategy & Gear

Abyssal demons are a popular high-level Slayer task known for their profitable Abyssal whip drops and efficient XP rates. Unlocking them at 85 Slayer is a significant milestone, and they remain one of the most farmed Slayer creatures in Old School RuneScape. This guide is for a boss variant. If you'd like to see a more detailed guide for the Abbysal Sire, the boss version of the regular Abyssal Demons click here for our OSRS Abyssal Sire Guide

Melee method for killing Abyssal Demons

  1. Use Protect from Melee
  2. Multi-location advantage: Use multi-target spells like Ice Barrage or Burst to tag multiple spawns if power slaying for XP.
  3. Teleport: They will occasionally teleport a few tiles away; simply run back and continue attacking.
  4. Auto Retaliate: If you're not going to use barrage, you can also use a semi-AFK method. This involves attacking all the Abyssal Demons around you, and when you have the most aggro on you, you can go AFK while your auto-relatite does all the work.

Bursting method for killing Abyssal Demons

If you want to optimize your kills per hour, the option we'll describe below is for you. This method, called "bursting," consists of attacking all the Abyssal Demons around you to stack them in the same place (as much as possible) and then attacking them with ice barrage or any variant (blood barrage for emergency healing). This way, we'll be taking advantage of the fact that they're in a multi-zone, allowing us to attack them all simultaneously, which means more KC per hour. If you kill them all at once, it's recommended to have the hop world ready for greater efficiency, although some prefer to wait for more to spawn and continue. Either way, it's faster than attacking them with melee and AFK. I hope you try this method because once you do it, there's no going back. You'll always want to do it, even if it requires money, because it saves time.

Conclusion

Abyssal demons remain a top-tier Slayer task due to their profit potential, consistent whip drops (~1/512 drop rate), and solid XP rates. For optimal efficiency:

  • Unlock the Slayer helmet (i) for boosted damage.
  • Train to 90+ melee or 90+ magic stats for fast kills.
  • Use Catacombs for barraging tasks or the Slayer Tower for AFK melee tasks.
  • It is recommended to carry Soul Bearer to save the greatest number of unsouled heads that these monsters drop.
