The most popular way to get cooking experience is by cooking raw food on a range. Cooking on a range can be done simply by using the raw fish on the range. Foods like bread, cake, and pie require a range before being cooked, but meat, fish, and stew can be cooked on an open fire or range. Open fires can be found in NPC campfires or iron spits. 

While cooking, there is a chance that players will fail, leading to the food getting burned and no cooking experience being awarded. This happens frequently when you start cooking, but as your cooking level goes up, this lowers the chances of the food getting burnt. Ranges generally have a lower chance of burning food when it is being cooked when compared to open fires. Hosidius Kitchen is the best range for cooking because it offers a 5% chance of being successful when cooking.

The Hosidius kitchen is useful for cooking because it provides a 5% increased chance of successfully cooking food when using the cooking ranges inside. It can be found in the Hosidius district just east of the Mess and contains a bank and 2 cooking ranges. The fastest method to get to the kitchen is by using Kharedst’s memoirs’ Lunch by the Lancalliums teleport (11s) or via Xeric’s talisman.

Quests for Cooking Experience

It is faster for players to complete the quests below when starting cooking, as they have little to no requirements and can be completed quite easily.

• Cook’s assistant: This has no requirements and offers 300 cooking experience.
• Rag and Bone Man I: This has no requirement and offers 500 cooking experience
• Big Chompy Bird Hunting: This requires 30 cooking, 5 fletching, and 30 fletching and offers 1,470.
• Gertrude’s Cat: This has no requirement and offers 1,525 cooking experience
•   Forgettable Tale of a Drunken Dwarf: This requires 22 cooking and 17 farming. It offers 5,000 cooking experiences.
•   Tai Bwo Wanna Trio requires 30 cooking, 15 agility, and 5 fishing. It offers 5,000 cooking experiences.

Cooking Raw Karambwan into Poison Karambwan (Level 1- 30)

1-Tick cooking raw Karambwans into poison Karambwans is quite expensive and is not worth it for most players; however, it is the fastest method of training cooking between levels 1 to 30. 1-Tick cooking raw Karambwans into poison Karambwans is done by holding, doing 2, and rapidly using the raw Karambwans on a range. 

Cost of Making Poison Karambwans from Level 1 to 30

Although players need to cook only 168 poison Karambwans successfully to get to level 30, the burn rate is high; therefore, at least 500 raw Karambwans are needed to get to level 30. This results in a cost of about 220,000 GP at the current Grand Exchange prices.

1-tick Cooking Karambwans (Level 30-99)

Cooked Karambwans are very popular amongst players as they can heal up to 18 hitpoints and have no eating delays when eaten. Cooking Karambwans with tick manipulation is the fastest method of training cooking from level 30 to level 99 cooking, each granting up to 190 cooking experience when successfully cooked. Starting to cook Karambwans at level 30 will result in a majority of the raw Karambwans getting burned while being cooked. This reduces as your fishing level goes up, resulting in better experience rates.

Baking Pie (Level 10-99)

Baking pies using the Bake pie spell is a good alternative to the click-intensive method above. The Bake Pie spell is in the Lunar spellbook and can automatically cook all the pies in the inventory without the risk of burning them. It offers decent experience rates with low effort, while also giving a magic experience. The disadvantage of this method is that it is quite expensive because of the low supply and trading volumes of uncooked pies.

Pies can never burn when using a bake pie spell, and an inventory of 27 pies takes 48.6 seconds or 81 ticks, which gives the player 113,000 magic experience per hour at start. The cooking experience depends on the pie that is baked, as listed below. Meaning that as the cooking level increases, you can cook other types of pies, and the EXP rate goes up.

Jugs of Wine (Level 35-99)

Making jugs of wine is also a good alternative and offers relatively fast experience rates. Although it is not profitable, it is relatively cheap. Players also need to pay more attention when making jugs of wine to get the optimal experience rates.

Players can make jugs of wine by simply using a jug of water on a grape; when this is done, unfermented wine forms, which turns into wine after 12 seconds and gives the player a cooking experience. If the player adds another grape to a jug of wine during this time, the 12-second timer resets. Players will get the cooking experience even if the unfermented wine is banked.

Cooking fish is also AFK, so it is only recommended if you are looking for a very AFK method to train cooking.
