OSRS Banshee Slayer Task Guide: Locations & Safespots

OSRS Banshee Slayer Task Guide: Locations & Safespots

If you've been assigned Banshees as your Slayer task and want a smooth, efficient way to handle them--this guide has you covered. We'll cover everything from gear, safe spots, and travel methods to the best training strategies whether you're a low-level player or just trying to power through Slayer tasks.

Variants

Twisted Banshees are stronger variants of banshees that require level 15 Slayer to kill. They are found exclusively within the Catacombs of Kourend, in a multicombat area. There is a safespot in the walkway between the two rooms. Players must wear earmuffs or a Slayer helmet while fighting them to avoid the effects of their screams, which cause the player to take 7 damage and have their stats greatly reduced in Attack, Strength, Defence, Ranged, Magic, Prayer, and Agility with every attack received. They use magical melee, and their attacks are fairly accurate. These opponents seem to regenerate 1 hp each time they are attacked, regardless of whether your hit deals damage. As a result, Thralls, especially the lesser variants, are not very effective when fighting Twisted banshees.

Requirements

Before you can be assigned Banshees as a Slayer task, you'll need to meet a few minimum requirements:

  •   15 Slayer to kill them
  •   20 Combat to be eligible for the task
  •   Priest in Peril quest completed (to access Morytania and the Slayer Tower)

Items to Bring

You must wear Earmuffs or a Slayer Helmet when fighting Banshees. Without them, you'll take constant damage (up to 6 per hit) and suffer stat drains. Earmuffs are easily purchased from any Slayer master or the Grand Exchange.

Since Banshees are undead, the Salve Amulet does boost your damage and accuracy. However, keep in mind that the Salve bonus does not stack with the Slayer Helmet--choose whichever is more relevant to your goals.

Although Banshees use Magic-based attacks they have no defensive stats--so any combat style works well against them. If you're struggling with their attacks, wear Ranged armor for its magic defense.

For quicker task completion, wear an Expeditious Bracelet. It has a 25% chance to double-kill count per monster, helping you finish tasks much faster.

Locations

Regular Banshees

The most common spot is in the Slayer Tower in Morytania. These level 23 Banshees are found on the ground floor, just past the Crawling Hands. They're weak and abundant, making them a very fast and easy Slayer task.

Twisted Banshees (Alternative Option)

If you're looking for better loot and a bit more XP, you can also kill Twisted Banshees in the Catacombs of Kourend. They're level 89 but they can be safespotted easily.

While on a banshee Slayer task, there is a 1/200 chance that a Screaming Banshee will spawn after you kill a standard banshee (if you have Bigger and Badder unlocked). After claiming the elite tier rewards from the Combat Achievements system, this chance is increased to 1/150.

How to Get There

Here are the fastest and most reliable methods of reaching the Slayer Tower (where most players will kill Banshees):

  •   Slayer Ring → Direct teleport to Slayer Tower (fastest method)
  •   Fairy Ring code CKS → Teleports you just south of the tower
  •   Ectophial → Teleport from Ghosts Ahoy, then run west
  •   Arceuus Spellbook → Use either Fenkenstrain's Castle or Salve Graveyard teleports
  •   Varrock to Paterdomus → Only if you're truly out of better options

Safespot for Banshees

Yes, you can safespot the regular Banshees in the Slayer Tower!

Stand north of the staircase on the ground floor, near the wall behind a torch. Lure a Banshee to the correct tile and attack from behind the obstacle. Once you get the lure down, it becomes a reliable safe spot to train from.

This method is ideal for low-level players using Magic or Ranged and looking to take minimal damage while training.
