OSRS Ironman Construction Training

OSRS Ironman Construction Training

Construction is difficult to train for an Ironman since planks are required, meaning players must first get planks or logs and convert them into planks before training. However, it’s a helpful skill, unlocking features like the restoration pool and teleportation portals, which are very useful in an Ironman.

Fastest Path to 99 Construction on Ironman

Level 1-16: Questing

Start by completing these two quests:

  • Daddy’s Home: rewards 544 Construction XP. Make chairs to get to level 10 required for Tower of life
  • Tower of Life: requires 10 construction and rewards 1,000 Construction XP

Level 16-33: Crafting table 1s with Oak Planks

crafting table 1

Crafting Table 1 can be built in the clockmaking space in the workshop of a POH. It grants 240 XP, and players must have a hammer and a saw to make it. 4 oak planks are required to make a crafting table.

Level 33-47: Crafting Oak larders

oak larders

Oak larders can be built in the larder space of a kitchen in a POH. It grants 480 XP, and the player must have a hammer and a saw in their inventory to make it. They require only 8 oak planks and give the best XP for the amount of planks at 33 construction.

XP per hour from Crafting Oak Larders

Players can gain up to 400,000 construction XP per hour while crafting Oak Larders.

Level 47-99: Mounted Mythical capes

mounted mythical cape

Mounted mythical capes become available after Dragon Slayer II is completed if the player has 47 construction. Constructing the mounted mythical cape gives 370 XP and requires three teak planks. This means it grants 123 XP instead of 90 XP per teak plank because of the extra 100 XP awarded for using the Mythical cape. It can be built in the guild trophy space of the quest hall in a POH.

XP per hour from Mounted Mythical Capes

Players can get up to 430,000 construction XP per hour with maximum efficiency.

Alternative Methods of Training Construction on Ironman

Level 1- 99: Mahogany Homes

mahogany homes

This method is more click-intensive and much slower than regular training construction methods, but it offers more XP per plank. Nonetheless, constructing Mounted Mythical capes gives three times more XP per hour than Mahogany homes contracts. This makes up for the time lost, getting more logs and coins required for making Mounted Mythical capes.

Mahogany Homes requires players to teleport to any of the 12 houses in Varrock, Falador, East Ardougne, and Hosidius to rebuild the furniture they are assigned to. In return, players are offered additional construction XP and carpenter points, which can be used to buy several useful items.  Check our mahogany homes guide to find the best strategy for playing this minigame.

At the Expert tier (70 construction), players can get up to 200,000 construction experience per hour.

Obtaining Planks

A good portion of training construction on an ironman involves getting the planks required.

Cutting logs and Converting them with Bulter

woodcutting

Cutting logs and then having the butler in your POH convert them into planks and bank them for you is the best way of obtaining planks on an ironman. This way, you get to train your woodcutting while obtaining planks for construction.

Picking up planks near the Barbarian Outpost

plank spawns

Four planks spawn near the Barbarian Outpost,, which is near a bank. Players can repeatedly swap worlds, pick up the planks,, and store them in the bank.

Planks per hour from picking planks

Players can get 600 planks per hour from this method. Weight-reducing clothing is recommended since you have to make frequent trips to the bank.

Managing Miscellania

managing miscellania

Teak or Mahogany logs can be passively obtained from Managing Miscellania daily. Managing Miscellania involves assigning citizens of the island of Miscellania and Etceteria (after completing the royal Trouble quest) to collect various resources on the Islands, which can then be deposited in the player’s bank. Check our managing Miscellania guide to find the best strategy for this method

Planks from Managing Miscellania

Selecting Woodcutting is the fastest method, as the player will get 892 maple logs daily. However, it is more expensive.

Method to converting logs to Planks

If you choose to obtain logs first through woodcutting before converting them to planks, here are the best methods to do that.

Butler in the PVP world

butler

Requirements: 45 magic and Butler

This is the fastest method of converting logs to planks. It is safe if the player stays in the safe zone. However, mis clicks might happen, so Hardcore ironman should take caution. Here are the steps to take for this method:

  • Teleport to Camelot to the bank chest in a safe zone and get the logs
  • Teleport to House and give the Butler the logs to take to the sawmill
  • Teleport back to Camelot and repeat the process.

Planks per hour from Butler in the  PVP world

With this method, players can convert 5,000 to 7,000 logs to planks per hour.

Casting Plank Make

plank make

Plank make is a Lunar Spell that becomes available after the Dream Mentor quest and 86 magic. It converts logs into planks of the same type, costing 70% of what the saw operator would normally charge. For players looking to save GP and more AFK alternatives, this is the best option. Players will also train their magic with this spell, getting up to 90,000 magic XP per hour.

Planks per hour from Casting Plank Make

Players can convert 960 logs into planks per hour. When using Mahogany logs, this activity is profitable, yielding up to 340K GP per hour in profits.
