OSRS Plague City Quest Guide: Quick Walkthrough & Rewards

Plague City is the first quest in the Elf quest series. It involves investigating a plague that has affected West Ardougne.

Difficulty: Easy

Length: Very short

General Questing recommendations: Enable RuneLite Quest Helper in your RuneLite plugin section, hold your space bar to skip through NPC dialog, and use number keys for chatting dialog.

How long it takes: It took me about five minutes to complete this quest. It is quite easy so you should expect to finish in the same time, even as a beginner.

Item Requirements for Plague City

All of these items can be bought from the Grand Exchange on normal accounts.

• Dwellberries
• Spade
• Rope
• Bucket of milk
• Chocolate dust
• Snape grass

Obtaining the required items on Ironman

Ironman accounts have to obtain the required items through the following methods.

• Dwellberries: These can be picked from McGrubor's wood.
• Spade: They can be bought from any general store.

• Rope: They can be bought from any general store.

• Bucket of milk: Can be obtained from milking cows in Lumbridge.
• Chocolate dust: A Chocolate bar can be bought from the baker's stall in Ardougne. Use a pestle and mortar on it to get Chocolate dust.
• Snape grass: These can be found in Hosidius. On the Northeastern peninsula, which is filled with Hobgoblins.

Recommendations for Plague City

• 4 buckets of water
• 30GP to take a boat from Rimmington to Ardougne

It has no skill or quest requirements.

Walkthrough of Plague City

• Bring all required items and talk to Edmond behind his house, just beside the wall that separates East Ardougne from West Ardougne. Select 1 twice during the dialogue to offer to help his daughter. He will tell you to talk to his wife about getting protection from the plague.

• Dwellberries are easiest to gather in McGrubor’s Wood, north-east of Edmond’s house. The area is fenced, but you can slip in through the loose railing on the north side. You can also buy dwellberries from vendors near the Grand Tree or on the Grand Exchange.
• Bring a bunch of dwellberries to Alrena and she’ll make you a mask. If you ever lose it, there are extra masks in the cupboard. Pick up the portrait in the house while you are there.

• Speak to Edmond again and he’ll explain the plan to dig under the wall into West Ardougne. Start by softening the soil: use your buckets of water on the mud patch behind his house (between the cabbages and potatoes). You can refill the bucket at the sink inside. Once the ground is softened, use your spade on it to begin digging.

• Speak to Jethick, east of where you emerge. Reply 1 during the dialogue to receive a book. Afterwards, enter the building north as shown in the image below. Once inside, talk to Martha or Ted Renison then go upstairs to their daughter and talk to her. 

• Go south from the town square toward the southern wall. Look for the house with a large black “X” on its doors and a stairwell in the centre leading underground. Try to open the door and reply 2 to the dialogue that starts. 

• .Head to the large building just north of the manhole and speak to the Clerk, choosing options 1 and 3. Then go into the room to the east and talk to Bravek, selecting options 1 and 3 again. Mix the bucket of milk with the chocolate dust, then use the chocolate milk on the snape grass to make the bravery potion. Give the potion to Bravek and choose option 3.

• Return to the Plague House and search the barrel inside. Go down the eerie stairs to the west, enter the jail, and talk to Elena. After speaking to her, leave the building, climb down the manhole in the middle of the city,  climb up the mud hole, and speak to Edmond to finish the quest
