OSRS Tree Gnome Village Quest Guide: Warlord Safespot

OSRS Tree Gnome Village Quest Guide: Warlord Safespot

Tree Gnome Village is the first quest in the Gnome quest series. In this quest, players help the Gnomes retrieve stolen Orbs of Protection from Khazard forces.

Difficulty: Intermediate
Length: Short

General Questing Tips

  • Enable RuneLite Quest Helper in your plugin section.
  • Hold the space bar to skip NPC dialogue quickly.
  • Use number keys to select dialogue options efficiently.

Time to Complete: It took me around 10 minutes to finish. If it’s your first time, it should take around the same if you don't struggle with the Khazard Warlord fight.

Item Requirements

Normal Accounts: Items can be purchased from the Grand Exchange.
Ironman Accounts: Items must be obtained manually.

  • 6 normal logs (for repairing defenses) ironman can just chop any regular trees for these.
  • Combat equipment: Wizard hat and robe with Fire Strike for safe-spotting the Khazard Warlord
  • Food (for healing during combat)

Recommendedations

  • At least 13 Magic for Fire Strike while safe-spotting
  • Stamina potions for faster movement.
  • Ring of dueling or Ardougne teleport: to get to the tree gnome maze

Enemies to Defeat

  • Khazard Warlord (level 112)

Walkthrough

Start the Quest

Recommended: Ring of dueling

  • Teleport to Castle wars with the ring of dueling and head north east to the Tree Gnome Maze. Alternatively, you can use an Ardougne teleport and run south. Make your way through the Tree Gnome Maze following the path shown below, squeeze through the railing to the center then talk to King Bolren (location indicated).

Navigating through Tree gnome maze

  • He explains that three Orbs of Protection were stolen by Khazard troops. Agree to help, and Elkoy will escort you out of the maze.

Speak to Commander Montai

Bring: 6 logs

  • Head north of the Tree Gnome Maze and talk to Commander Montai.

commander montai

  • Give him 6 logs to repair defenses.
  • After that, he instructs you to find 3 trackers.

Locate the Trackers

The locations of the three trackers are shown in the map below

locations of trackers

  1. Tracker Gnome 1: Behind or beside the largest building northwest.
  2. Tracker Gnome 2: In the northeast building (Khazard prison).
  3. Tracker Gnome 3: Roaming outside the southwest corner of the stronghold near the ballista.

The third tracker gives a clue for the ballista coordinate:

  • “Less than my hands” = 1
  • “More than my head but less than my fingers” = 2
  • “More than we but less than our feet” = 3
  • “My legs and your legs” = 4

Fire the Ballista (see map above)

  • Return to the southwest corner of the battlefield (ballista, not Montai’s catapult).
  • Enter the correct coordinate from the third tracker.
  • If missed, simply fire again until the target is hit.

Retrieve the Orbs

  • After hitting the target, talk to Commander Montai.
  • Enter the northern building through the crumbled wall, climb the ladder west, and search the chest for the first Orb of Protection (see image below)

Tips:

  • Low-level players may encounter a level 48 Khazard Commander at the stall—safe-spot behind the northern broken chair or skip combat.
  • Repeat for the next Orb if encountered.

The Orbs

Recommended: Food, if low level

  • After you get a hit with the ballista, talk to Commander Montai and enter the building to the north, through the crumbled wall, then climb up the ladder west and search the chest for the first orb.

Note: After climbing the crumbled wall, you’ll encounter a stall where you are attacked and cannot heal. This can be dangerous for low-level players. You will be attacked by a level 48 Khazard Commander. They have low Hitpoints (22) and should not pose a problem for most mid-level players. You can safespot the commander behind the northern broken chair. Defeating the commander is optional; you can also skip them and proceed to the western room to climb the ladder.

    • Once you climb the ladder, you will encounter another level 48 Khazard Commander. Either defeat them or head straight to the chest to retrieve the Orb of Protection.

Return to the Maze

  • Exit through the nearby south door and return to the northwest maze entrance.
  • Speak with Elkoy for guidance through the maze.
  • Talk to King Bolren, who informs you that the remaining two Orbs are with the Khazard Warlord.

Defeat the Khazard Warlord

Bring: Melee or magic armour and weapon, food (i recommend 5-6 Lobsters, or 1-3 if using safespot)

Get geared up with some decent armor (full Iron platebody works fine), your best scimitar or similar weapon, and some food. If you’re going the safespot method, I suggest you bring your best magic gear and enough runes for your strongest attack spell—Fire Strike or better works well. The safespot strategy is shown below.

The Khazard Warlord is west of West Ardougne. Watch out for wolves along the way—eat as you pass them. They can be dangerous for low-level players.

 Safe-spot Strategy

safespot for Khazard Warlord

  • Stand at the safe-spot highlighted in the image above, just outside the Warlord’s attack range. You will keep getting dragged back by the warlord, keep running back to the safe spot, and keep attacking him while staying out of melee range. I’d recommend having 20+ HP and at least 13 Magic for Fire Strike. Attack him, then move back to the safe-spot before he gets close enough to deal damage to. His max hit is 10

  • Once the Warlord is down, grab the Orbs of Protection and bring them back to King Bolren to wrap up the quest. You’ll see a cutscene of the Gnomes restoring the Orbs on the Spirit Tree.

Congratulations! You have completed Tree Gnome Village
