OSRS Black Knights' Fortress Quest Guide: For Beginners

The Black Knights' Fortress quest tasks you with helping the White Knights infiltrate the Black Knights' fortress to sabotage their new secret weapon. It's a short, beginner-friendly quest but requires some careful navigation and preparation.

  • Enable the RuneLite Quest Helper for clear step-by-step instructions.
  • Hold the spacebar to quickly skip through NPC dialogue.
  • Use number keys to select chat options instantly.
     

Time to Complete: About 5 minutes for experienced players. New players may take longer while navigating the fortress.

Item Requirements

  • Bronze med helm
  • Iron chainbody
  • Cabbage (not from Draynor Manor)

Ironman Notes:

  • Bronze med helm: Buy from the helmet shop in Barbarian Village.
  • Iron chainbody: Buy from Horvik’s armour shop in Varrock.
  • Cabbage: Pick from the Edgeville Monastery cabbage patch or south Falador farm.

Walkthrough

Starting the Quest

  • Speak to Sir Amik Varze on the 2nd floor of Falador Castle (climb both sets of the west stairs). Use the Falador teleport to get here quicker. Select chat options 1, 1, 1 to agree to help investigate the Black Knights’ secret weapon. He will hand you a dossier, which will self-destruct after reading.

The fortress is located northeast of the Dwarven Mine. To get there, teleport to Edgeville with amulet of glory then go west or teleport to Falador and run north.

  • If you still need items, pick them up on your way:
    • Iron chainbody from Wayne’s Chains (west of Falador’s south gate)
    • Bronze med helm from Peksa in Barbarian Village
    • Cabbage from Edgeville Monastery
  • Equip the bronze med helm and iron chainbody to enter the fortress undetected. You can unequip them once inside.
  • Run past the Black Knights outside (aggressive if under level 67 Combat).

The relevant wall and ladders for navigating the black knight’s fortress are shown in the images below. Go through them as follows:

  • Once inside, push the wall directly in front of you to enter a small room.
  • Climb the ladder inside.
  • Climb the next ladder immediately to the right.

  • Climb down the ladder just to the south.
  • Go through the eastern door.
  • Climb the closest ladder you see.

  • Climb down the ladder immediately to the east.

  • Open the sturdy door to the south, then climb down the ladder just west of it.

  • In this small room, you’ll find a grill as shown in the image below. Click on it to listen in, and you’ll overhear a conversation between the Black Knight Captain, the witch, and a goblin.
  • Return to the bottom floor of the castle going back through the ladders shown above

Sabotaging the Secret Weapon

  • For lower-level players, you can heal at Edgeville before continuing.
  • Enter the room to the east of the building entrance. Ignore the guard warning, climb the north wall ladder, push the wall south, then use the cabbage in the hole for a cutscene.

Finishing the Quest

  • Return to Sir Amik Varze at Falador Castle to report your success and complete the quest.

   

Congratulations! You have completed the Black Knight's fortress.
