OSRS Black Knights' Fortress Quest Guide: For Beginners

OSRS Black Knights' Fortress Quest Guide: For Beginners

The Black Knights' Fortress quest tasks you with helping the White Knights infiltrate the Black Knights' fortress to sabotage their new secret weapon. It's a short, beginner-friendly quest but requires some careful navigation and preparation.

Difficulty: Medium

Length: Very short

General Questing Tips

  • Turn on the RuneLite Quest Helper—it’s super handy for this quest since the fortress can be a bit tricky to navigate.
  • Hold the spacebar to breeze through dialogue.
  • Use the number keys to pick chat options fast and avoid misclicks.

Time to Complete: About 5 minutes for experienced players. New players may take longer while navigating the fortress.

Skill Requirements

  • 12 Quest Points

Item Requirements

  • Bronze med helm
  • Iron chainbody
  • Cabbage (not from Draynor Manor)

Ironman Notes:

I recommend picking up the required items on your way since they’re all conveniently located between Falador and the Black Knight Fortress. It’ll save you time and hassle.

  • Bronze med helm: Grab it at the helmet shop in Barbarian Village.

  • Iron chainbody: Pick it up from Horvik’s Armour Shop in Varrock.

  • Cabbage: You can snag one from the Edgeville Monastery patch or the farm just south of Falador.

Recommendations

  • Falador Teleport: Since the quest starts in Falador, I usually just use a Falador teleport tablet or cast the spell—it gets you there the fastest.

  • Combat Bracelet: To reach the Black Knights’ Fortress quickly, I like teleporting to the Monastery with a combat bracelet and then running west. If you don’t have one, an Amulet of Glory to Edgeville works just fine—you can just run west from there.

Walkthrough

Starting the Quest

  • Teleport to Falador with Falador teleport or run there from Lumbridge. Enter the Falador castle and climb the west stairs twice to find Sir Amik Varze. Speak to him and select chat options 1, 1, 1 to agree to help investigate the Black Knights’ secret weapon. He will hand you a dossier, which will self-destruct after reading.

The fortress sits northeast of the Dwarven Mine. You can teleport there with a Combat Bracelet to the Monastery or use an Amulet of Glory to Edgeville. If you don’t have either, no worries—just run there, it’s not too far.

Entrance of Black Knight's fortress

  • If you still need items, pick them up on your way:
    • Iron chainbody from Wayne’s Chains (west of Falador’s south gate)
    • Bronze med helm from Peksa in Barbarian Village
    • Cabbage from Edgeville Monastery
  • Equip the bronze med helm and iron chainbody to enter the fortress undetected. You can unequip them once inside. I recommend you keep them on for their defensive bonuses.

The relevant wall and ladders for navigating the black knight’s fortress are shown in the images below. Go through them as follows:

  • Once you’re inside, push the wall in front of you to get into a small room. Take a quick breather—things are about to get hectic, as several knights will start attacking. Then, climb the west ladder, and immediately take the next ladder to the right.

  • Climb down the ladder just to the south the through the eastern door then climb the east ladder you see.

Path in the Black knight's fortress

  • Climb down the ladder immediately to the east.

  • Open the sturdy door to the south. Low on prayer? I suggest you use the altar here to recharge, then climb down the ladder just west of it.

  • In this small room, you’ll find a grill as shown in the image below. Click on it to listen in, and you’ll overhear a conversation between the Black Knight Captain, the witch, and a goblin.
  • Return to the bottom floor of the castle going back through the ladders shown above

Sabotaging the Secret Weapon

  • If you’re running low on food, I’d suggest lower-level players take a quick break—run back to Edgeville bank to heal or grab some extra food before moving on.

  • When you’re ready, head into the room just east of the building entrance.Don’t stress about the guard warning. I recommend using the number keys to quickly select “yes” in the dialogue—otherwise the Black Knights attacking can interrupt it. Climb the ladder on the north wall, push the wall south.

  • Make sure you right-click and USE the cabbage—if you left-click, you’ll just eat it and have to deal with all the knights again to get another one. Trust me, it’s a pain, so don’t accidentally munch it!

Congratulations! You have completed the Black Knight's fortress.
