OSRS Recruitment Drive Quest Guide: Solve Knights test

OSRS Recruitment Drive Quest Guide: Solve Knights test

Recruitment Drive is the first quest in the Temple Knight storyline. Sir Tiffy Cashien will put you through a series of puzzles and tests to determine if you're worthy of joining the Temple Knights.

This quest is quick, puzzle-heavy, and has completely random rooms—so read each section carefully.

General Questing Tips

Enable RuneLite Quest Helper, use spacebar to skip dialogue, and use number keys to pick chat options faster.

Time to complete: ~9 minutes. You should finish around the same time unless you fail a puzzle.

Walkthrough for Recruitment Drive

Start the Quest

Recommended: Falador teleport

  • Teleport or run to Falador then head to Falador Castle and climb up to the 2nd floor (1st floor if you’re using UK terms) of the western tower shown in image below. Talk to Sir Amik Varze and pick option 1. He’ll point you to Sir Tiffy Cashien in Falador Park shown below.

Speak to Sir Tiffy Cashien

  • Before talking to Sir Tiffy, take off all your gear and completely empty your inventory. Then speak to him and choose chat option 3 to start the tests.

You’ll get teleported to a test area with seven different rooms. You only need to pass five of them, but the Sir Leye combat test is always included. If you mess up any room, you’re kicked back to Falador and have to start over, so take it slow.

Sir Ren Itchood (Word Door Puzzle)

  • Just type in any one of these and you’ll pass: BITE, FISH, LAST, MEAT, RAIN, or TIME.

Lady Table

Important: before you talk to her, quickly memorize the room or just take a screenshot — it makes this part way easier.

You’ll see 12 statues at first. As soon as the test starts, one of them disappears.

Here’s how to solve it:

  • There are 4 statues of each color: bronze, silver, and gold.

  • After one vanishes, one color will only have 3 statues left.

  • Look at that color and figure out which weapon is missing:

    • sword

    • halberd

    • greataxe

    • mace

Once you’ve figured it out, touch the statue that matches the missing color and weapon. That completes the room.

Honestly, the easiest method is just taking a screenshot before anything disappears, then comparing.

Miss Cheevers (Alchemy & Chemistry Puzzle)

  • Grab everything from the shelves and crates highlighted below— that’s all you’ll need for the Alchemy room (the image below shows the full items needed).

Here’s the order I use:

  • Use the metal spade on the Bunsen burner.

  • Take the hot spade and use it on the stone door.

  • On the door, apply cupric sulphate first, then the vial of liquid.

Now make the bronze key:

  • Use the vial of liquid on the tin.

  • Add gypsum.

  • Use the tin on the key.

  • Add cupric ore powder, then tin ore powder.

  • Heat the tin on the Bunsen burner.

  • Finish it with a chisel, knife, or bronze wire.

Once that’s done:

  • Walk through the first portal and exit through the second door.

  • Pull the spade.

Room complete.

Sir Kuarm Ferentse

Sir Kuam Ferentse

  • Sir Kuam will send you to fight Sir Leye, who’s level 20. Grab the Steel warhammer, since the other weapons won’t count for the quest. When he’s almost defeated, make sure the final hit comes from either your bare hands or the warhammer—you can pick it up from the table shown in the image above.

  • Once he’s down, head through the east portal to leave the room.

Hardcore Ironman note: dying here will cost you your status, so take it slow and don’t risk it.

Sir Spishyus (Fox, Chicken, Grain Puzzle)

Sir Spishyus

Here’s the classic puzzle solved in a simple way:

  1. Pick up the Chicken and carry it across the bridge to the west side. Drop it there.

  2. Go back east and grab the Fox. Take the Fox to the west side.

  3. Bring the Chicken back to the east side.

  4. Take the Grain to the west side.

  5. Return to the east side and finally carry the Chicken to the west.

  6. All items are across—exit the room.

Puzzle complete.

Sir Tinley (Meditation Room)

  • Talk to him → Select "Continue" and Do NOT move for 8 seconds.
  • Any click will cause you to fail the puzzle.

Ms. Hynn Terprett (Riddle Room)

Here are the correct answers:

  1. Choose your death: acid, fire, wolves, or fall?
Thrown to wolves (wolves can't survive 30 days)
  2. Husband 4× older than daughter; in 20 years he’ll be 2× her age. Daughter’s current age?
    10 years old
  3. Four stones dropped in water at 32°F, 33°F, 34°F, 35°F: which hits bottom last?
    32°F bucket (it's frozen)
  4. Multiply the number of left-hand fingers of all creatures in Gielinor
    Zero (anything × 0 = 0)
  5. Which is true: 1, 2, 3, or 4 statements are false?
    Three statements are false

After solving all riddles, exit the room.

Finishing the Quest

  • Return to Sir Tiffy Cashien in Falador Park.
Speak to him to complete Recruitment Drive.
