The Knight’s Sword is a short but iconic quest where you help the Squire replace Sir Vyvin’s lost ceremonial sword—without Sir Vyvin ever knowing. The quest is quick, gives a massive early Smithing boost, and is beginner-friendly as long as you’re careful inside the Blurite cave.
Difficulty: Intermediate
Length: Short
General Questing Tips: Enable the RuneLite Quest Helper plugin for step-by-step guidance. Hold spacebar to skip dialog and use number keys for response options. Bring food before entering the Blurite cave—Ice Warriors hit surprisingly hard if you’re low-level.
Skill Requirements
- 10 Mining
- Ability to survive attacks from:
- Ice Warriors (Lvl 57)
- Ice Giants (Lvl 53)
—or simply avoid them using the safe mining method discussed below
Item Requirements
For normal accounts
- Redberry pie
- 2 iron bars
- Any pickaxe
Ironman tips
- Redberry Pie: Make it by adding redberries to a pie shell and cooking it. Takes about 3 minutes.
- Iron bars: Found north of Ferox Enclave in the Wilderness. Watch for PKers—I had to world-hop twice.

Time to Complete
I finished the quest in about 7 minutes. New players should expect roughly the same if they follow the safe mining method shown below.
Recommended Teleports
- Varrock teleport — speeds up the Reldo step
- Falador teleport — great for returning to the castle
These save several minutes of running. Ironmen must run if they don’t have the spells yet.
Walkthrough of The Knight’s Sword
Start the Quest
- Talk to the Squire in the Falador Castle courtyard.
- During the dialog, choose 1 → 2 → 1 → 1 to offer your help. He suggests asking Reldo about Imcando dwarves.

Speak to Reldo (Varrock Castle Library)
Reldo is in the north room of the library. (Image shown here.)

Visit Thurgo the Imcando Dwarf
- Before you go, make sure you have a redberry pie.
If you’re planning to do The Giant Dwarf soon, bring two pies to avoid another trip.
- Talk to Thurgo (south of Port Sarim).

Choose dialog option 2 to offer him the pie. He’ll help you only after eating it.
(Insert image of Thurgo’s hut here.)
Getting the Portrait
Return to Falador Castle and talk to the Squire again.
Next, head upstairs:
- Climb the east ladder
- Go west into Sir Vyvin’s area
- Go up the staircase
Search the southern cupboard

Important: Sir Vyvin must NOT be in the room.
If he is:
- Wait
- Or hop worlds
- Or walk into the next room until he wanders away
Mining Blurite (Safely)
- Return to Thurgo and give him the portrait (reply 1).
Then climb down the ladder northeast of his hut to reach the Blurite Cave.
- All monsters in this cave are aggressive. If you don’t have Protect from Melee, bring food.
How to Identify Blurite
Blurite rocks are bright blue, easy to spot. (Insert image here showing Blurite rocks clearly.)
Safe Mining Method (Highly Recommended)
The ice cave contains ice spikes on the floor. Use these to trap Ice Warriors and Ice Giants:
- Stand behind the spikes
- Make the monsters attempt to walk through them
- They get stuck
You take zero damage

I mined mine with 10 Mining in about 15 seconds using this method.
Additional Tip
If you plan to complete the Falador Easy Diary, mine one extra Blurite ore now.
Finishing the Quest
Return to Thurgo with:
- 1 Blurite ore
- 2 iron bars
Choose reply 1 to have him forge the sword.
If you want a Blurite sword for yourself:
- Drop the first sword
- Ask Thurgo for another
- Pick the dropped one back up
Finally, return to the Squire in Falador Castle to complete the quest.
Congratulations — Quest Complete!
Rewards from the Knight's Sword

- 1 Quest point
- 12,725 Smithing XP
