OSRS Waterfall Quest Guide: Beginner-friendly Walkthrough

OSRS Waterfall Quest Guide: Beginner-friendly Walkthrough

Waterfall Quest is an exciting free-to-play quest centered around a hidden treasure in Baxtorian Falls. The quest involves navigating past high-level monsters—level 86 Fire Giants and level 84 Moss Guardians—without equipment, so low-level or hardcore Ironman players should take caution. Fire Giants can hit up to 11, and Moss Guardians hit up to 14, so having at least 20 HP is recommended.

This quest has no skill or quest requirements, making it accessible to all beginners.

General Questing Tips

  • Enable RuneLite Quest Helper in your plugin section.
  • Hold the space bar to quickly skip NPC dialogue.
  • Use number keys to select dialogue options efficiently.

Time to Complete: About 7 minutes for a prepared account. Completion may take longer for low-level or unprepared players due to combat risks.

Walkthrough of Waterfall Quest

Start the Quest

  • Talk to Almera northeast of Baxtorian Falls. Using a Games Necklace, run south to reach her house. Reply 1 during dialogue. She asks you to check on her son, Hudson, who is searching for treasure.

Board the Raft

  • Head west of Almera to the raft and interact with Hudson. He refuses your help and continues his treasure hunt.

Cross the Waterfall

  • Use a rope on the rock to swim across; do not click “Swim” or you’ll be sent downstream.
  • Use your rope on the dead tree to descend the waterfall.
  • Left-click the barrel to enter safely.

  • Enter the building north of the waterfall and climb the ladder.

Ladder in waterfall quest

  • Search the bookcase for the Book of Baxtorian; reading it is required for the next step.
  • Navigate to Tree Gnome Village Maze (southwest of Ardougne). If you’ve completed the Tree Gnome Village quest, teleport via Spirit Tree or follow Elkoy. Otherwise, follow the path shown in the image.

  • Go down the ladder in the maze, search the northwestern crate for a key. Avoid Hobgoblins or eat to heal.
  • Use the key to open the door and talk to Golrie to receive Glarial’s Pebble. Keep it for follow-up quests.

Raid Glarial’s Tomb

  • Teleport to the Barbarian Outpost. Bank everything except your pebble, food, stamina potions, and a games necklace for a quick exit. Note that no armour is allowed in the next area,

  • Head to Glarial's tombstone, east of Baxtorian Falls, and use your pebble on it to enter the cave.

Glarial's tombstone

  • Inside the cave, you’ll encounter high-level monsters. Avoid them, or attack a skeleton or zombie before heading west. This prevents a Moss Guardian from targeting you — crucial for low-level players, as Moss Guardians can hit up to 14 and may one-hit very low levels.
  • Search the chest in the western room for Glarial's amulet, and search Glarial's tomb in the southern room for Glarial's urn. Warning: Searching the coffin is an uninterruptible action. You cannot eat or teleport while doing it, and monsters can still attack you.

Collect the Baxtorian Treasures

  • Bring back 6 Air, 6 Earth, 6 Water runes, Glarial’s Amulet, Urn with some food
  • Return to Almera’s house and board the raft. Use the rope on the large grey rock on the small patch of land downstream, then use the rope on the dead tree to climb down. Once you reach the waterfall ledge, equip Glarial's amulet, then open the door to enter the falls.

entering waterfall

  • Take the eastern passage first and search the crates for a key. Then head north through the western passage. I did this quest with a 10hp account as shown below, and I could easily get past the Fire Giants by first tagging a Shadow Spider (or even a rat if players are fighting the giants) to prevent the Fire Giants from attacking. On busy worlds, players training here make it easier to pass, which is recommended for low-level players since Fire Giants can one-hit 10 HP accounts.

The Waterfall cave

  • Use 1 Air, 1 Water, and 1 Earth rune on each of the six pillars.
  • Use Glarial’s Amulet on the statue of Glarial.
  • Place Glarial’s Urn on the chalice to complete the quest.

  • 1 Quest Point
  • 13,750 strength XP
  • 13,750 attack XP
  • 2 Diamonds

Completing the quest from level 3 Attack and Strength will increase your levels to 30, making early-game combat much easier. After this quest, it is recommended to do quests such as Fight Arena or The GrandTree for additional attack XP before you start training.
