OSRS Doric's Quest Guide: Beginner-Friendly

Doric's Quest is a very short, free-to-play quest that involves helping Doric the Dwarf with his smithing work. Completing it allows you to use Doric’s anvils for smithing, which is especially useful for early Mining and Smithing training.

General Questing Tips

• Enable RuneLite Quest Helper in your plugin section.
• Hold the space bar to quickly skip NPC dialogue.
• Use number keys for dialogue options to speed up the quest.
    

Time to Complete: About 1 minute if you already have the ores, slightly longer if you need to mine them.

Item Requirements

You’ll need the following items:

• 6 clay
• 4 copper ores
• 2 iron ores

Recommendedations

• 15 Mining (to mine iron ores yourself)
• Falador teleport (for quick access to Doric’s house)
    

Ironman Tips:

• Clay: Mine from the Varrock Southwest Mine.
• Copper & Iron Ores: Mine from the Varrock Southeast Mine or the Dwarven Mine near Doric’s house.
• Alternative: Ironman can obtain iron ores by killing dwarves outside the Dwarven Mine or pickpocketing H.A.M members (no Mining level required).

Walkthrough

Talk to Doric. Location: Small building at the crossroads north of Falador, just east of Taverley Gate and south of Goblin Village.

Ask Doric if you can use his whetstone or anvil. He will explain he needs materials for making pickaxes and give you a bronze pickaxe to help.

Collect the Materials

• Collect all 6 clay, 4 copper ores, and 2 iron ores.
• It’s important to bring all items in a single trip, as Doric requires them together (12 inventory slots).
• Ores can be mined yourself or obtained from other players.
  
  

Return to Doric

• Give him the materials.
• He will thank you, grant you access to his anvils, and give your rewards.

• 1 Quest Point
• 1,300 mining XP
• 180 coins
• Use of Doric's Anvils

Completing Doric’s Quest is required for Devious Minds and the Easy tier of the Falador Diary. If you start the quest with 1 Mining, the 1,300 Mining XP reward is enough to raise you directly to level 10 Mining.
