Doric’s Quest is one of those super quick, no-stress F2P quests. You’re basically helping Doric the Dwarf gather some ores so he can get back to his smithing. Once you’re done, you can use Doric’s anvils, which is really handy early on for Mining and Smithing training.

General Questing Tips
- Turn on RuneLite Quest Helper to make it completely brain-off.
- Hold the spacebar to skip dialogue.
- Use number keys for chat options to move things along faster.
Time to Complete: Took me about a minute since I already had the ores. If you need to mine them first, it’ll take a bit longer but still very quick.
Item Requirements
You’ll need the following items:
- 6 clay
- 4 copper ores
- 2 iron ores
Recommendations
- Around 15 Mining if you plan to mine the iron yourself.
- Falador teleport or Games necklace I like crafting these early—especially on an ironman. They make getting around for quests and other activities way easier overall.
Ironman Tips:
- For clay, I usually mine it at the Varrock Southwest Mine.
- Copper and iron are easy from the Varrock Southeast Mine or the Dwarven Mine right next to Doric’s place.
If you don’t feel like mining iron, you can also get iron ore from killing dwarves outside the Dwarven Mine or pickpocketing H.A.M members—no Mining level needed.
Tip: Get all the required ores before heading to Doric so you don’t have to keep running back and forth to her place. It saves time and makes the quest feel even more easy.
Walkthrough
Bring: 6 clay, 4 copper ores, and 2 iron ores
Recommended: Falador teleport or Games necklace
- Teleport to Falador, then run north to Doric (marked by the quest icon below). Alternatively, you can use a Games Necklace to teleport to Burthorpe and run south him.
- Ask Doric if you can use his whetstone or anvil. He’ll tell you he needs some materials to make pickaxes and even hands you a bronze pickaxe to help out.
Collect the Ores
- If you didn’t grab the ores before starting the quest, do that now. Mine all 6 clay, 4 copper ores, and 2 iron ores from the appropriate rocks.
- Try to bring everything in one trip—Doric won’t accept them separately, so you’ll need 12 free inventory slots. You can mine everything yourself or just buy the ores from the Grand Exchange if you want to save time.
Head back to Doric
Give him the materials and you’re done. He’ll thank you, unlock the use of his anvils, and give you your rewards.

Completing Doric’s Quest is required for Devious Minds and the Easy tier of the Falador Diary. If you start the quest with 1 Mining, the 1,300 Mining XP reward is enough to raise you directly to level 10 Mining.
