Sheep Herder is part of the Elf questline, and the goal is simple on paper: round up four infected sheep, kill them, and burn their bones so the plague doesn’t spread through Ardougne. In reality, the herding part is where most people get stressed — the sheep love wandering off like they have a mind of their own.

Use number keys for faster chat options.
Bring stamina potions. They help more than people expect, especially during the herding.
I finished Sheep Herder in about 9 minutes, but that’s mostly because I already know how annoying the sheep can be. If it’s your first time, expect maybe 5 extra minutes — especially if the sheep decide to troll you.
There are no skill, quest, or item requirements. Just bring the 100 coins for the clothing and some stamina pots.

Now the “fun” part begins.
Herding sheep in this quest is weirdly harder than it should be. Even after doing this quest many times, the sheep still manage to run off in random directions like they’re trying to escape Ardougne forever.
Here’s what actually works:
If the sheep says BAAAAA! (all caps), it moves the direction you prod.
If it says Baa, it runs back to its original spot — super annoying.
Stand behind the sheep and push it in the direction you want. Don’t let it wander.
Spam-click to keep it moving. If you stop even for a moment, it tends to drift off.
If it gets stuck on a wall, just reposition behind it and prod again.
When it’s close to the pen, give it one last prod to make sure it actually enters. I’ve had sheep stop one tile away and turn around — painful.

Completion of Sheep Herder is required to start Mourning's End Part I.
