OSRS Sheep Shearer Quest Guide

Sheep Shearer is one of the first quests in OSRS. It involves helping Fred the Farmer shear his sheep and has no requirements. It can be completed within a minute on normal accounts but will take roughly 3 minutes on ironman accounts

Item requirements for Sheep Shearer

• 20 balls of wool

Regular Accounts Sheep Shearer Guide

Normal accounts can purchase 20 balls of wool from the Grand Exchange and take them to Fred the Farmer to finish the quest. Ironman accounts must obtain the required items from the locations shown below.

General Questing recommendations: Enable RuneLite Quest Helper in your RuneLite plugin section, hold your space bar to skip through NPC dialog, and use number keys for chatting dialog.  

Ironman Guide for Sheep Shearer

• Talk to Fred the Farmer to start the quest. Hold your space bar to skip through the dialogue and select ‘1, 1’ when prompted. If you don’t have shears, speak to Fred again and he will give you a pair.

• Next, climb over the fence into the sheep field using the stile shown. Only shear the puffy sheep, as the skinny ones don’t provide wool. Avoid the ram—it looks similar, but your character will attack it if clicked. To shear, either right-click a sheep and select Shear, or right-click your shears, select Use, and then click on a sheep. Continue until you’ve collected 20 wool.
• Once you have the wool, run to Lumbridge Castle and climb to the middle floor. You’ll find a spinning wheel in the first room to the north. Click the spinning wheel with wool in your inventory to create balls of wool. Players planning to do the Prince Ali Rescue quest afterward should make 3 extra balls of wool, as they will be required. 

• Run back and speak to Fred the farmer to deliver the balls of wool to finish the quest.

Congratulations! You have completed Sheep Shearer. The rewards are shown below.

• 150 crafting XP (additional 50XP if you make the balls of wool with the spinning wheel instead of buying it)
• 60 coins

Some other quests worth doing—especially if you’re aiming for a Quest Cape quickly—are Misthalin Mystery, Prince Ali Rescue, and Rune Mysteries, in that order.
