OSRS Tower of Life Quest Guide: Puzzle Solutions

Tower of Life is a short, puzzle-heavy quest where you help a group of alchemists finish their bizarre living-creature experiment.

General Questing Tips:
Enable RuneLite Quest Helper, hold spacebar to skip dialogue, and use number keys for chat options.

Time to complete: About 20 minutes.

Ironman Notes

• Beer: These can be bought from any bar. It’s best to buy from Ardougne bar since it is close to start of the quest.
• Hammer & Saw: You can buy both of these from Sawmill Operator in Lumberyard
   

No quest requirements and no enemies need to be defeated.

Walkthrough

Starting the Quest

• Go south of East Ardougne and talk to Effigy outside the Tower of Life shown in the image below.
  • Fast travel: Fairy ring DJP or Ardougne Cloak teleport.

Choose chat option 1.

• Speak to Bonafido north of the tower and choose chat option 1 to convince him you're a builder.
    

Getting Builder Gear

• Talk to Black-eye (north side of the tower). Choose 3 → 1 → 2 to get the Hard Hat

• Talk to No Fingers.
  • He won’t give the boots—pickpocket him.
  • Usually succeeds within a few attempts.
• Talk to The Guns, then search the south bushes for Builder’s Trousers.
  • They are almost always in the south bush.

• Equip the builder outfit, speak to Bonafido, and answer his test:
  • 2 → 3 → 1 → 2

Enter the tower with your hammer and saw.

Fixing Up the Tower

Collecting Materials

The crates to obtain the materials needed are shown in the images below.

• Search the first crate for 3 metal sheets.
• Search the second crate (just south) for 4 colored balls.

• Search the eastern crate for 4 valve wheels.

• Climb the stairs to the machine

Fixing the First Pipe Machine

• Click the machine → choose 1.
• Number the wheels left to right: 1, 2, 3, 4.

Solution

• Wheel 1: Left until ball blocks → right until pipe fills → pull left lever.
• Wheel 2: Left to block → right to fill.
• Wheel 3: Right until drip → left once to block → right to fill → pull right lever.
• Wheel 4: Right until drip → left once → right to fill.
    

You’ll get a message confirming success.

Collect More Materials

Go downstairs:

• Crate 1: 4 pipes
• Crate 2: 5 pipe rings
• East crate: 6 rivets

Go upstairs twice to the next machine.

Fixing the Second Pipe Machine (Jigsaw Puzzle)

• Click machine → choose 1.

• Only the largest piece needs rotation.
• All other pieces fit in the correct orientation.
• Drag and rotate pieces into place until everything locks.
   

Easy, straightforward puzzle.

Building the Cage (Top Floor)

Get back down and collect:

• 5 metal bars
• 4 binding fluids

• Climb two floors up, then the ladder to reach the cage room.
• Click the cage and follow this sequence:

Side 3

• Horizontal size 4

Cage complete.

Finishing the Quest

• Go downstairs and talk to Effigy.
• Enter the tower door and climb to the top floor for a cutscene.
• Return downstairs and talk to Effigy again.
• Speak to the Homunculus:
  • Chat sequence: 2 → 2 → 1 → 3 → 3 → 1 → 1
• Go to the basement, talk to both Effigy and the Homunculus.
• Open the basement door to finish the quest.

Congratulations! You have completed the tower of life quest.
