OSRS Tower of Life Quest Guide

Tower of life is a quest where a group of alchemists attempts to create a living creature.  

General Questing recommendations: Enable RuneLite Quest Helper in your RuneLite plugin section, hold your space bar to skip through NPC dialog, and use number keys for chatting dialog.  

Time to complete: It took me about 20 minutes to complete the Tower of life quest.

Obtaining the required items for Ironman

• Beer: They can be bought from any bar.
• Hammer: They can be bought sawmill Operator.

• Saw: They can be bought sawmill Operator.

It has no quest requirements and no enemies to defeat.

Walkthrough for Tower of Life Quest

Starting the Quest

• Go south of East Ardougne and talk to Effigy outside the Tower of Life. Reply 1 to start the quest. To get there faster, use the fairy ring DJP or teleport to Ardougne Monastery with an Ardougne cloak. Effigy will direct you to speak with Bonafido north of the tower — talk to him and reply 1 as well. I used the Ardougne cloak method since i don't have access to the fairy ring.

• Next, talk to Black-eye at the northern part of the tower and reply 3, 1, 2 to receive the Hard Hat. Then speak to “No Fingers” at the same location. Since he refuses to give you the boots, right-click to pickpocket him. It may take a few tries. It took me two tries to get it right so you should not take too long.

• Talk to "The Guns" and search the bushes to the south for some Builder's Trousers. It is highly likely that the Builder's trousers are in the south bushes so search them first. I have done this part multiple times and always find the trousers in south bush. Equip the builder clothes and speak to Bonafido. Reply 2, 3, 1, 2 then make sure to bring a saw and hammer, then enter the tower.

Fixing up the Tower

• First, search the first highlighted crate for 3 metal sheets and the second crate, just south of the first, for four coloured balls. After that, search the eastern crate for 4 valve wheels and climb up stairs to the machine.

Fixing Pipe Machine

• Now you need to fix the pipe machine. To do this, left-click the machine and reply 1 then follow the instructions below.

The wheels are labeled from left to right, with the leftmost as 1 and the rightmost as 4.

Left-click the machine and reply 1 to begin. The wheels are labeled from left to right, with the leftmost as 1 and the rightmost as 4. Follow these steps:

1. Turn wheel 1 left until the ball plugs the hole, then right until the pipe fills. Pull the left lever.

2. Turn wheel 2 left to plug the hole, then right until the pipe fills.

3. Turn wheel 3 right until water drips, then left once to plug the hole, and right again until it fills. Pull the right lever.

4. Turn wheel 4 right until water drips, then left once to plug the hole, and right until it fills.

I found puzzle quite easy. You’ll receive a message confirming the machine is working. 

After calibrating, go downstairs and search the first crate for 4 pipes, the crate east of it for 5 pipe rings, and the eastern crate for 6 rivets. Then climb upstairs twice.

Fixing second Pipe machine  

• Left-click the pipe machine, then reply 1 to fix it. You will need to solve a simple puzzle, similar to a jigsaw (solution shown on the right). When you place a pipe in the correct spot, it will lock in place. Only the largest piece needs to be rotated; the rest are already in the correct orientation. Select a piece and use the arrow and rotation controls at the bottom to move it into position. Similar to the last one, this puzzle is quite easy.

• After solving the puzzle, climb downstairs to the last floor and search the southern crate for 5 metal bars and 4 binding fluids. Next, climb up to the top floor by climbing up the stairs twice and up the ladder highlighted below.

Fixing Cage

Now, you have the build the cage on the top floor following the instructions below.

• Quick guide:
  When each side is finished, turn the cage with the right arrow.

The cage should now be complete! This puzzle was a bit more challenging to do than the last one but nothing too complicated.

Finishing the Quest

• Go downstairs and talk to Effigy on the west side of the tower. Open the tower door and climb to the top floor, following the alchemists for a cutscene. After the cutscene, return to the last floor and talk to Effigy again. Then enter the tower and speak to the Homunculus on the top floor, replying 2, 2, 1, 3, 3, 1, 1. Finally, climb down to the last floor, talk to Effigy on the west side, and the Homunculus in the basement. Open the basement door to complete the quest.

Congratulations! You have completed the tower of life quest.

Completion of Tower of Life is required for the Medium Ardougne Diary task to kill a Swordchick, which requires 1 raw swordfish and 1 raw chicken.
