Tower of Life is a short, puzzle-heavy quest where you help a group of alchemists finish their bizarre living-creature experiment.
General Questing Tips:
Enable RuneLite Quest Helper, hold spacebar to skip dialogue, and use number keys for chat options.
Time to complete: It took me around 20 minutes to finish this one, and you can expect roughly the same if you’re doing it for the first time.

Item Requirements
Ironman Notes
- Beer: These can be bought from any bar. It’s best to buy from Ardougne bar since it is close to start of the quest.
- Hammer & Saw: You can buy both of these from Sawmill Operator in Lumberyard
No quest requirements and no enemies need to be defeated.
Recommendations
- Ardougne teleport, Ardougne cloak, or 30GP to take boat from Rimmington to Ardougne. The Ardougne cloak is great for saving coins, especially on Ironman—I’d recommend knocking that diary out early if you can.
- 1 Stamina potion: this would help with all the running around in this quest.
Walkthrough
Starting the Quest
- Teleport to Ardougne or take a boat there then head south of East Ardougne and speak to Effigy outside the Tower of Life (shown in the image below).
- Choose chat option 1 to continue.

- Speak to Bonafido north of the tower and choose chat option 1 to convince him you're a builder.
Getting Builder Gear
- Talk to Black-eye (north side of the tower). Choose 3 → 1 → 2 to get the Hard Hat

- Talk to No Fingers first. He won’t hand over the boots, so you’ll need to pickpocket him instead. It usually works after a few tries, so just keep at it.
- Next, talk to The Guns, then head over to the bushes to the south and search them for the Builder’s Trousers. They’re almost always in the south bush, so check that one first.

- Put on the full builder outfit, then talk to Bonafido and take his test. Answer the questions in this order: 2 → 3 → 1 → 2.
- Once that’s done, head into the tower with your hammer and saw to continue.

- Turn it left once to plug the hole.
- Turn it right again until the pipe fills.
- Pull the right lever.

You’ll get a message confirming success.
Collect More Materials
Head downstairs and grab the following:

From the images above: crate 1 is the leftmost one, crate 2 is the one to the right, and the east crate is the one shown at the bottom.
- Crate 1: 4 pipes
- Crate 2: 5 pipe rings
- East crate: 6 rivets
Go upstairs twice to the next machine.
Fixing the Second Pipe Machine (Jigsaw Puzzle)
- Click on the machine and select option 1 to start the puzzle.

-
Only the biggest piece needs to be rotated—everything else will fit in the right way automatically.
-
Just drag and rotate the pieces until they all lock into place like in the solution above.
Pretty easy and straightforward puzzle.
Building the Cage (Top Floor)
Head back downstairs and grab the following items from the crates as shown in the images below.
- 5 metal bars
- 4 binding fluids

- Climb two floors up, then the ladder to reach the cage room.
- Click the cage and follow this sequence:

When you select the horizontal or vertical button, a bar will appear. Use the + sign to increase its length—the bars start at size 1. Click "Place Bar" to insert it. If it disappears, just redo the step using the next size up.
Tip: Each “square” of the cage is made of 2-length pipes, so if a gap spans 1½ squares, use a pipe of length 3.
Once one side is done, use the right arrow to rotate the cage and work on the next side.

- Finally, go to the basement, talk to both Effigy and the Homunculus, then open the basement door to complete the quest.
