OSRS Witch’s Potion Quest Guide: Ironman-friendly

Witch’s Potion is a quick and easy free-to-play quest where you help the witch Hetty brew a magical potion. There are no skill or quest requirements, making it perfect for beginners. The only challenge is defeating a rat to collect a rat’s tail.

Item Requirements

For regular accounts:

• Burnt meat
• Eye of newt
• Onion
• Rat’s tail
  

Ironman accounts:

• Burnt meat: Cook raw meat on a fire twice.
• Eye of newt: Purchase from Betty’s Magic Emporium in Port Sarim.
• Onion: Found on the second floor of Lumbridge General Store.
• Rat’s tail: Obtained during the quest itself.
   

Recommended item

• Skill necklace (teleports to Crafting Guild, north of Rimmington) – optional but speeds up travel.
  
  

Step-by-Step Walkthrough

Start the Quest

• Speak to Hetty in Rimmington and select dialogue options 1 → 1 to begin.

• • If your Player-Owned House is in Rimmington, you can teleport there

  • Otherwise, run west from Lumbridge or Draynor Village.

Collect the Rat’s Tail

• Head to the house west of Hetty and kill a rat inside to obtain a rat’s tail.

Return to Hetty

Take the rat’s tail along with burnt meat, eye of newt, and onion and talk to Hetty. Drink from the cauldron to complete the potion and finish the quest.

• 1 quest point
• 325 magic XP

This quest offers an excellent early boost to Magic experience, allowing players to quickly level from 1 to 4 Magic, while also providing a fast way to gain quest points early in the game
