Hazeel Cult is a super short and easy quest with a choice: go good with Ceril or evil with Hazeel. If you side with Ceril, you stop the cultists from resurrecting Hazeel. If you go with Hazeel, you help bring him back to life. I usually pick the good side because, well, conscience—but if you enjoy a little chaos, siding with Hazeel can be a fun twist.
General Questing Tips

- Use number keys to select chat options efficiently.
Enemies:
- Alomone (level 13) – only if you take Ceril’s side.
Note: Ceril’s side is faster and safer, while Hazeel’s side involves more steps and morally “evil” actions.
This quest has no skill or quest requirements.
Walkthrough: Ceril Side (Good)
Start the Quest
- Teleport to Ardougne or take a boat there then start talking with Ceril Carnillean in the south-west corner of East Ardougne.
- Then head south, cross the bridge, go east of the clock tower, and enter the cave just south. Inside, speak to Clivet and choose to refuse helping with Hazeel’s resurrection.
- Both Ceril and the cave entrance are marked on the map above for easy reference.
Set the Sewer Valves
All sewer valves and numbers are shown in the image below
Now you need to set the sewer valves. Follow the instructions below to do this:
Tip: Make sure to right-click the valves and pick “Turn Left” or “Turn Right” so you don’t accidentally do the wrong thing.

Valve 1: Across the bridge south of the Carnilleans’ house → Turn Right

Valve 2: Behind the Carnilleans’ house → Turn Right

Valve 3: North of the cave → Turn Left

Valve 4: South of the zoo’s penguin cage → Turn Right

Valve 5: South-east of the fourth valve past the monk → Turn Right
I usually go in order like this—it keeps things simple and I don’t have to run back and forth.
Defeat Alomone
- Return to the cave and board the raft south, to reach the final room.
- Head south and fight Alomone. Once you’ve taken him down, open the chest close to him for the Carnillean armour. You can drop it and pick it up again for an extra set. It is an easy fight so you don't need armour or food.
Finish the Quest
- Head back to the Carnilleans’ house and chat with Butler Jones, then go upstairs to talk to Ceril. He’ll take the armour and hand you 5 coins—just a joke reward.
- For the real quest reward, search the cupboard in Butler Jones’ room.
Walkthrough: Hazeel Side (Evil)
If you feel like playing the bad guy:
Start the Quest
Teleport to Ardougne or take a boat there then talk with Ceril and agree to help. Then head into the cave shown in the image above, talk to Clivet and agree to help bring Hazeel back to life. Clivet will hand you some poison and tell you to slip it into Ceril’s food.
Murder a Carnillean
- Go to the basement of Ceril’s house and use the bottle of poison on the range there
- Return upstairs and speak to Ceril about Scruffy, the dog.
Set the Sewer Valves
- Valve 1: Turn right
- Valve 2: Turn right
- Valve 3: Turn left
- Valve 4: Turn right
- Valve 5: Turn right

Resurrect Hazeel
- Hop on the raft and make your way to the main hideout.
- Talk to Alomone, then head over to the Carnillean house. Speak with Butler Jones and make sure to finish the dialogue—then search the crate highlighted in the image below to grab the chest key.
- Climb the ladder and stairs to the top of the Carnillean house. Knock on the wall on the northern side of the east room, then head up the ladder there. Use the key on the chest to grab the scroll.
- Finally, return to Alomone to complete the resurrection.

- 2,000 coins (plus 5 coins from the fake ending if you sided with Ceril)
- Hazeel’s Mark (Hazeel side)
- Carnillean Armour (Ceril side, if you collected an extra set)
- 5 Kudos, claimable from Historian Minas in Varrock Museum

- Completing Hazeel Cult is required to start Secrets of the North.

Hazeel Cult is a short quest with two distinct paths. Ceril’s side is faster, safer, and gives Carnillean armour, which can help in early combat. Hazeel’s side is more involved and rewards Hazeel’s mark, a cosmetic item. Both sides provide decent Thieving XP and coins, making this a simple yet rewarding quest.
