OSRS Ironman Thieving Guide: Making Money

OSRS Ironman Thieving Guide: Making Money

Training thieving on Ironman is quite helpful, as most methods reward the player with GP or items like seeds needed for other activities. The training methods used on Ironman are similar to those used on normal accounts. However, more rewarding activities are usually more favoured by most ironman.

Recommendations for Thieving training

Rogue equipment

rogue equipment

The rogue’s equipment is beneficial when training thieving, as with the full set, there is a 100% chance of pickpocketing twice the loot from an NPC.  It requires 50 thieving and 50 agility to equip and the full set takes only around 90 minutes to obtain so you get it first before training thieving on your account.

Ardougne cloak 2

This is a reward for completing the Medium Ardougne Diary. It gives a 10% increased chance to pickpocket an NPC in Ardougne.

Dodgy necklace

While equipped, it provides a 25% chance to prevent the player from being stunned and damaged while pickpocketing an NPC.

Shadow veil

Fast Route to 99 Thieving on Ironman

Levels 1-5: Pickpocket from Men and women

men

Start by pickpocketing from men and women in Lumbridge. At 1 thieving, you will often fail and get damaged, so monitor your HP. Don’t forget to open the coin pouch when it is full at 28.

Levels 5-25: Thief from Bakery stalls

bakery stalls

Thieve cakes from the bakery stalls in East Ardougne. The cakes and bread should be stolen while standing at the safespot to prevent the risk of getting caught by the guard, especially if you are Hardcore. If you get caught, you should run far away from the guards to stop them from being aggro to you. The easiest way to get to the Bakery stalls is by taking the ship from Rimington to Ardougne.

Thieving from Bakery stalls is also a good way of getting food, which is useful for other activities like Wintertodt. Use the nearby bank shown above to quickly bank and return. If another player is doing this activity ointhe same world, you should hop to another.

Levels 25-45: Stealing from Fruit Stalls

At level 25, players can steal fruits from the fruit stalls in Hosidius in the location above. You should bank the strange fruit for run energy and Golonova fruit tops for botanical pies. This is useful for Ironman looking for herb seeds, as they can get up to 60 high-level seeds per hour at maximum efficiency. You should get 94+ thieving and complete the hard Ardougne Diary before using this method, as this will prevent you from failing. 85+ farming also increases the drop rate of ranarr, snapdragon, and torstol seeds.

The XP per hour from pickpocketing masters farmers ranges between 115,000-120,000 XP per hour. Players usually opt for this method because of the seeds that they can get, generating up to 780K GP worth of seeds per hour.

Level 81-99: Pyramid Plunder

pyramid plunder

This method requires 21 thieving and having started Icthlarin’s little helper quest. Although only 21 thieving is required to play the minigame, you should train up to 81 thieving before this method becomes worthwhile.  Playing the minigame is simple but dangerous, so Hardcore Ironman are advised to take caution.

The player is given 5 minutes to plunder the Jalsavrah Pyramind which consists of eight rooms, each requiring increasing thieving levels. Players can earn decent XP rates using this method, reaching up to 270K XP per hour at 91 thieving, and they can also obtain useful rewards like the Pharoah sceptre.
