OSRS Sleeping Giants Quest Guide: Unlock Giants’ Foundry

OSRS Sleeping Giants Quest Guide: Unlock Giants’ Foundry

Sleeping Giants is a quest about the Giants' Foundry minigame where the player assists Kovac, the giant, in investigating an ancient workshop beneath the Giants' Plateau.

General questing tips: Turn on RuneLite’s Quest Helper plugin, hold the space bar to speed through NPC dialogue, and use number keys to select chat options.

How long it takes: It took me about eight minutes to complete sleeping giant quest. The minigame is quite straightforward and explained thoroughly in this guide so you can finish in about the same time.

Walkthrough for Sleeping Giants

  • Setup your inventory as shown below, so you have 20 free inventory slots and the required items then head to the Giants' Plateau, east of Al Kharid. The fastest route is using the Grouping teleport to Giants' Foundry. Alternatively, you can teleport to Al Kharid with an amulet of glory and travel east from the palace. Beyond the Hill Giants, you’ll see a lone Hill Giant near a giant anvil with a “Strike” option instead of “Attack.” Try striking him, and he’ll ask for your help—accept to begin the quest.

Giants' plateau

The Hill Giant, Kovac, will lead you to a nearby cave, triggering a cutscene of the Giants' Foundry—a massive workshop once used to forge giant weapons. Kovac wants to restore it to remind his kin of their past civilization.

Repair the foundry’s broken equipment (a nearby chest provides bank access if needed):

  • Trip hammer: 1 Oak log, 5 nails

  • Grindstone: Chisel

  • Polishing wheel: 2 Oak logs, 5 nails, 1 wool

Making A Sword

You need 20 inventory spaces for this section

  • Speak to Kovac to continue, then speak to him again for a commission. After that, search the crate south for bars and metal items.

  • Fill the Crucible with the bars and items by using them on it. Once it’s full, talk to Kovac about the mould.

  • Set up the Mould Jig according to Kovac’s instructions. You can choose any options for the Forte, Blades, and Tips to complete the quest. Speak to Kovac again, then click the Crucible to pour the molten metal into the mould.

  • If you don’t have Ice gloves, grab a bucket from the pile and use it on the waterfall to collect water. Pour the water onto the mould, then pick up the Mould Jig with the cooled metal.

  • When shaping the sword, use the trip hammer while the heat bar is in the red, reheating in lava if it drops near yellow. Letting it get too yellow will reduce sword quality. Check the white border to see the sword’s temperature and the next tool to use.

  • Grind the preform while the sword is yellow, and use the polishing wheel when it’s green, reheating in lava as needed.

  • Finally, give the finished sword to Kovac to complete the quest.
