OSRS Daganoth Slayer Task Guide: Cannon Strategy

Dagannoths are monsters usually assigned as slayer tasks by Vannaka, Chaeldar, Konar, Nieve, and Duradel. They are excellent slayer tasks as they are quick and give high slayer XP rates when cannons are used. Additionally, they have a chance to drop medium clue scrolls.

Requirements for Dagannoths

• Completion of Horror from the Deep
• 75 combat

• 60+ attack
• 60+ ranged
• Completion of  Dwarf cannon to use cannon

Locations of Dagannoths

Lighthouse

There are 22 spawns of level 74 and 92 Dagannoths spawns in this location. The fastest way to get here is by using the games necklace to teleport to the Barbarian outpost and then running north. 

Catacombs of Kourend

There are 14 Dagannoths spawns in this location. The fastest way to get here is through the portal chamber or nexus in a POH attuned to Kourend Castle. Alternatively, players can use Hosidius's page in the Kharedst’s memoirs, or fairy ring CIS.

Melee is the most cost-effective option, as it avoids spending GP on ammunition or runes—especially when using a cannon and already paying for cannonballs.

Strategy for Killing Dagannoths

There are 2 different Dagannoth variants available after the completion of the Horror from the Deep quest; levels 74 and  92. The level 92 Dagannoths use melee while the level 74 uses ranged and both have a max hit of 8. Protection prayers completely block damage from their attacks, but there is no way to prevent damage but fighting both variants in the same area.

Catacombs of Kourend

This is a more AFK area for completing Dagannoth tasks. The Dagannoths here only attack with melee, so using protect from melee will completely prevent damage. It is a multicombat zone, so all the Dagannoths in the area will be aggressive to you, making it more AFK. If they stop being aggressive to you, run a couple of tiles away from their attack zone and return to reset their aggression.

Cannoning Strategy For Dagannoths

Cannoning Dagganoths in Lighthouse

In the Lighthouse, the Dagannoths use melee and ranged so you can’t completely protect yourself from damage. Start at the bank in the Barbarian outpost and set up your inventory as shown above, then make your way to the lighthouse north. Be sure to drink a combat-boosting potion, use ranged or melee protection prayers and set your cannon in a good spot, where the cannonballs hit all Dagannoths in the area like the one shown below. Depending on your defence level, you might need to return to the Barbarian outpost a few times to restock on supplies before completing your task.

Players can expect 70,000 Slayer XP per hour when using a cannon to kill Dagannoths.
