OSRS Nieve/Steve Slayer Master Guide: Tasks & Blocks

OSRS Nieve/Steve Slayer Master Guide: Tasks & Blocks

Nieve (or Steve after Monkey Madness II) is one of the most popular Slayer masters in Old School RuneScape. Known for assigning high XP tasks with great GP/hour potential, she is the primary Slayer master for mid-to-high-level players progressing towards 99 Slayer and endgame PvM.

Players can receive Slayer reward points for completing Slayer tasks--this is based on how many tasks players have accomplished in a row. Completion of a task assigned by Nieve will grant you a varying number of points, depending on whether players have completed the Elite Western Provinces Diary, which is increased to match those of Duradel.

Your ideal block list may vary depending on whether you're focused on XP, bossing drops, or profit.

Best Tasks to Do

Here are the recommended tasks from Nieve/Steve for optimal XP and profit:

Abyssal demons (85 Slayer) - abyssal whip drops, strong XP
Dust devils (65 Slayer) - massive XP/hr in the Smoke Dungeon or the Catacombs
Nechryael (80 Slayer) - profitable with superior spawns
Greater demons - fast kills in Chasm of Fire or Wilderness
Smoke devils (93 Slayer) - decent XP, chance at Occult necklace
  Bloodveld (50 Slayer) - high XP/hr, cannonable
Hellhounds - fast task, clue scroll hunting
Black demons - excellent XP with cannon, or AFK in Catacombs

Tasks to Block or Skip

To maximize efficiency, block or skip these tasks:

Cave kraken - time-consuming, only worth it if hunting Kraken drops
Steel dragons - slow kills, low GP/hr
Spiritual creatures - poor XP, unless hunting specific drops
Gargoyles - decent profit but lower XP/hr compared to alternatives
Skeletal wyverns - profitable but long task time
Fire giants - better assigned by lower-level masters
Trolls - mediocre XP, travel time loss

Why Use Nieve/Steve?

Fastest Slayer XP in the game for mid-to-high levels
Excellent GP/hr from Nechryael, Abyssal demons, and Dust devils
Close to a bank for resupplying
Tasks complement high-level PvM training (e.g., preparing for Hydra, Cerberus, or Slayer bosses)

Tips for Efficiency

Unlock superior creatures ASAP for massive XP boosts
Bring a cannon for tasks like Bloodveld, Dust devils, and Suqahs
Use the Slayer helmet imbued for max damage and accuracy
Skip time-consuming tasks unless hunting specific boss drops

Conclusion

Nieve and Steve remain the most efficient Slayer masters for players pushing towards 99 Slayer or profit-based Slayer training. By focusing on their best XP tasks and blocking their worst assignments, you will optimize your time, earnings, and Slayer points en route to becoming a maxed PvM main or high-level Ironman.
