Bloodwood trees are the best moneymaking method available for Woodcutting as of October 2026. Chopping Bloodwood trees requires 77 Woodcutting and gives 3,721,410 GP/hr and 208k XP/hr. No Woodcutting method comes close in terms of GP and XP.
There are two kinds of Bloodwood trees: regular Bloodwood trees and the Engorged Bloodwood tree.
Regular Bloodwood trees are click-intensive but provide the best GP and XP for Woodcutting barring tick manipulation methods. Tick manipulation is a technique in OSRS that uses precise timing to perform actions faster.
The Engorged Bloodwood tree is an AFK-friendly version, with the downside being reduced rewards.
Chopping both kinds of Bloodwood trees gives buckets of Bloodwood sap, which are used in the creation of the new Seeking arrows.
You can also skip the grind by buying OSRS gold from us here.
| Method | Buckets of Sap/hr | GP/hr | XP/hr | Intensity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Regular Bloodwood tree | 99 | 3,721,410 | 208,000 | High |
| Engorged Bloodwood tree | 20 | 751,800 | 70,000 | Low |
Bloodwood trees are native to Vampyrium, the home of the vampires, which requires completion of The Blood Moon Rises quest to access. Level 77 Woodcutting is required to chop them.
The value of one bucket of Bloodwood sap depends on the type of logs you soak them with. Higher-tier logs give more arrow shafts and more GP.
How to turn Bloodwood sap into Seeking arrows:
Tip: Buckets of Bloodwood sap get more valuable the higher your fletching level is. I would do Bloodwoods at a minimum of 75 Fletching for Sap-treated Magic logs, which gives 90 Seeking arrow shafts per bucket of sap. 90 Fletching gives the highest profit with Sap-treated Redwood logs, which give 105 Seeking arrow shafts per bucket of sap.
| Value of Bloodwood Sap at Each Fletching Level | ||||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Type of Logs | Fletching Level Required | Amount of Seeking Arrow Shafts | Value per bucket (GP), Seeking Amethyst Arrows, Checked October 2026 | Value per bucket (GP), Seeking Dragon Arrows, Checked October 2026 |
| Sap-treated Maple logs | 45 | 60 | 20,520 | 21,480 |
| Sap-treated Yew logs | 60 | 70 | 23,940 | 25,060 |
| Sap-treated Magic logs | 75 | 90 | 30,780 | 32,220 |
| Sap-treated Redwood logs | 90 | 105 | 35,910 | 37,590 |
Seeking amethyst arrows and Seeking dragon arrows make the most profit at 342 GP and 358 GP, respectively. (Checked October 2026)
At 90 Fletching, one bucket of Bloodwood sap is worth 37,590 GP when used with Redwood logs to make Seeking dragon arrows. Using the same Redwood logs to make Seeking amethyst arrows gives 35,910 GP per bucket of Bloodwood sap.
For GP, add finished arrows. You process 150 at a time, against 15 from arrowtips. However, if you're also looking to train Fletching, adding arrowtips provides Fletching XP at the same rate as regular arrows while still turning a profit.
Bloodwood trees can be found at two locations: southwest of the Ruined Village and at the Apsul Hunting Ground.

I use the location near the Ruined Village to chop Bloodwood trees, as it only takes 30 seconds to bank and return. It is also the only location for the Engorged Bloodwood tree, allowing you to freely switch between the two kinds of trees.
You can use the Aranei Scouts to quick-travel across Sangvesti, a town in Vampyrium. Aranei Scouts offer various services within Vampyrium. You will need to unlock the quick-travel access by rescuing the Aranei Scout being attacked by 3 Sanguidae along the path to the Apsul Hunting Ground.

Only two items are required for chopping Bloodwood trees: Drakan’s Medallion and your best axe/felling axe.
The Drakan’s Medallion is required to teleport to Castle Drakan and travel to Vampyrium. It is given as a reward for completion of the ‘A Taste of Hope’ quest.
You can bank in Sangvesti if you have built the Bank chest, requiring 1 Magic stone, 2 Cupronickel bars, 2 adamantium bars, and 4 Ironwood planks. Bring a hammer and saw if you want to build the bank chest.
I use a felling axe for chopping regular Bloodwood trees, as it takes fewer chops to bleed the tree. Buckets are needed, but an Aranei bucket dealer supplies unlimited buckets near the Engorged Bloodwood tree for free.
I use the lightbearer, a rare reward from the Tombs of Amascut raid, because it speeds up regeneration of spec energy for more frequent Dragon Axe specials. I also use the Dragon Axe special past 99 Woodcutting because boosting past 99 gives a chance for fewer chops on regular Bloodwood trees.
Note:
Boosting past 99 doesn’t improve chopping time on the Engorged bloodwood tree.
Lumberjack outfits don’t boost XP from Bloodwood trees.
I use the Visual Bloodwood plugin for both trees and the AFK-overlay plugin for the Engorged Bloodwood tree. You can install them through the Runelite plugin hub. Just search the names of the plugins and install.

I use the Visual Bloodwood plugin because it improves the visibility of Bloodwood trees.
When chopping regular Bloodwood trees, the plugin keeps track of how many chops it takes for the tree to start bleeding. It also highlights the tree in different colors depending on what state the tree is in.

I use the AFK-Overlay Plugin for chopping Engorged Bloodwood trees and other AFK activities. The plugin displays an overlay that stays on top of applications. It can display bright colors to alert you when your character has become idle.

Chopping the Engorged Bloodwood tree gives 751,800 GP/hr and 70k XP/hr
The Engorged Bloodwood tree is the AFK version of regular Bloodwood trees. I got 20 buckets of Bloodwood sap an hour from it, against 93 from regular Bloodwood trees.
Chopping the Engorged Bloodwood tree involves two phases: chopping/bleeding the tree and draining/collecting the sap. When chopping the tree, a red progress bar will appear which will slowly fill up. When the progress bar is full, you can start draining the tree, which will deplete the progress bar.
At 99 Woodcutting and using a Dragon axe, it takes 1 minute and 55 seconds to fill up the progress bar. It takes a fixed 45 seconds to drain the Engorged Bloodwood tree.
I chopped the Engorged Bloodwood tree for 30 minutes at level 99 Woodcutting with a Dragon axe equipped, and I got 10 buckets of Bloodwood sap and 35k XP. That works out to 20 buckets per hour valued at 751,800 GP/hr when used to make Seeking Dragon Arrows, and 70K XP/hr.

Chopping the Engorged Bloodwood tree for 30 minutes at 99 Woodcutting and with a Dragon felling axe equipped gives 70k XP/hr.

Chopping regular Bloodwood trees is a click-intensive method, but it gives you 3,721,410 GP/hr and 208k Woodcutting XP/hr.
To chop the tree, you need to click your character twice to pull back your axe, then click the tree to make progress. Misclicking can interrupt the process, so I would start slowly until you get a comfortable rhythm for chopping the tree.

You can click twice in one tick to fully pull back your axe and then click on the Bloodwood tree to chop. If done right, it will look like a normal woodcutting motion.

You’ll need to repeat this process until the red progress bar is filled up. Once the bar is full, the tree will start bleeding. You’ll have to tap the tree three more times until it fully bleeds out, and you’ll receive your bucket of Bloodwood sap.
I use a felling axe for regular Bloodwood trees, as it takes fewer chops to make the tree bleed. At 99 Woodcutting, a normal Dragon axe takes 22 chops to make the tree bleed, compared to just 19 chops with a Dragon felling axe.
I tested regular Bloodwood trees at 99 Woodcutting with a Dragon felling axe. It took 18 minutes to complete one trip of 28 buckets of Bloodwood sap, the bank run, and the walk back.
In an hour, I would be able to do 3 trips and 9 trees, which would give a total of 93 buckets of Bloodwood sap. This makes chopping regular Bloodwood trees worth 3,495,870 GP/hr.
Chopping regular Bloodwood trees can be further improved to 3,721,410 GP/hr and 208k XP/hr when using a Crystal felling axe.

Chopping regular Bloodwood trees for 30 minutes at 99 Woodcutting and with a Dragon felling axe equipped gives 196k XP/hr.
Tip: While waiting for your final trees to bleed and fill up your inventory, you can start chopping the other trees on standby. Chop only to make progress, but do not let them bleed. Bled trees reset if not collected and a player leaves the area or logs out.

With a Dragon felling axe equipped, at level 77 Woodcutting you get 76 buckets per hour and 93 buckets per hour when boosting past level 99 with the Dragon axe special.
Estimated GP/hr and XP/hr for each level with a Dragon felling axe equipped, calculated using the number of chops to bleed the Bloodwood trees:
| Bloodwood rates with the Dragon Felling Axe equipped | ||||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Level | Chops to Bleed | Buckets of Sap/hr | GP/hr | XP/hr |
| 77-79 | 22 | 76 | 2,856,840 | 160,000 |
| .80-84 | 21 | 79 | 2,969,610 | 168,000 |
| 85-89 | 20 | 83 | 3,119,970 | 176,000 |
| 90-99 | 19 | 88 | 3,307,920 | 185,000 |
| 100-102 | 18 | 93 | 3,495,870 | 196,000 |
With a Crystal felling axe equipped, at level 77 Woodcutting you get 79 buckets per hour and 99 buckets per hour when boosting past level 99 with the Crystal axe special.
Estimated GP/hr and XP/hr for each Woodcutting level with a Crystal felling axe equipped, calculated using the number of chops to bleed the Bloodwood trees:
| Bloodwood rates with the Crystal Felling Axe equipped | ||||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Level | Chops to Bleed | Buckets of Sap/hr | GP/hr | XP/hr |
| 77-79 | 21 | 79 | 2,969,610 | 168,000 |
| .80-84 | 20 | 83 | 3,119,970 | 176,000 |
| 85-89 | 19 | 88 | 3,307,920 | 185,000 |
| 90-99 | 18 | 93 | 3,495,870 | 196,000 |
| 100-102 | 17 | 99 | 3,721,410 | 208,000 |
Note: Boosting your Woodcutting level past 99 using a Dragon Axe spec, gives a chance to reduce the number of chops to bleed by 1. However, this is not guaranteed. The higher the boosted Woodcutting level, the higher the chance it is to reduce the number of chops.
While starting out, it can be confusing what you have to do to efficiently chop the three Bloodwood trees. This is the rotation I use on the three Bloodwood trees.
1. Fully chop the 1st Bloodwood tree, then proceed to the next tree in a clockwise fashion.

2. Chop the 2nd tree halfway, tap the 1st tree, and go back to chopping the 2nd tree

3. After fully chopping the 2nd tree, tap the 1st tree and proceed to the 3rd tree

4. Chop the 3rd tree halfway, tap the other trees, and go back to chopping the 3rd tree.

5. Fully chop the 3rd tree, tap the 2nd tree, and then collect the sap on the 1st tree.

6. Repeat until buckets are full of Bloodwood sap.
Since both bloodwood trees have the same requirements, the choice boils down to your preference. Do you want to focus on a click-intensive method, or do you want something low-intensity?
Regular Bloodwood trees are ideal for short sessions if you don’t have the stamina. The frequent clicking is exhausting if done for extended periods of time. However, you get the best GP and XP for Woodcutting at 3,721,410 GP/hr and 208k Woodcutting XP/hr.
The engorged bloodwood tree, on the other hand, is perfect for low-intensity training. You can chop them while commuting on mobile, watching a movie, or even during downtime at work. You also earn 751,800 GP/hr and 70k XP/hr, which is a good amount of progress on your account.
| Pros | Cons | |
|---|---|---|
| Regular Bloodwood trees | Best GP and XP per hour for woodcutting at 3,721,410 GP/hr and 208k Woodcutting XP/hr. | High-intensity Exhausting |
| Engorged Bloodwood tree | Low-intensity AFK Easy to do for hours at a time | Lower GP and XP per hour compared to regular Bloodwoods at 751,800 GP/hr and 70k XP/hr |
Bloodwood trees can be found in Vampyrium in two locations, southwest of the Ruined Village and at the Apsul Hunting Ground. Vampyrium is the homeworld of vampyres, and completion of The Blood Moon Rises quest is required to gain access.
You need level 77 Woodcutting to chop Bloodwood trees. Chopping Bloodwood trees gives buckets of Bloodwood sap, which are used to make the new Seeking arrows. A high Fletching level is needed if you want to maximize profits from chopping Bloodwood trees.
A bucket of Bloodwood sap is worth 37,590 GP when using Redwood logs and making Seeking dragon arrows. The value of each bucket of Bloodwood sap depends on the tier of logs used. Fletching Sap-treated Redwood logs into Seeking arrow shafts requires level 90 Fletching and makes 105 shafts each.
First, soak your logs with your bucket of Bloodwood sap to create Sap-treated logs. Next, fletch your Sap-treated logs to make Seeking arrow shafts. Then, add feathers to the shafts to create headless Seeking arrows. Finally, add arrows or arrowtips of your choice to the headless Seeking arrows to create Seeking arrows.
