The best money-making method for Woodcutting in OSRS right now is chopping regular Bloodwood trees, which can reach 3,495,870 GP/hr. It also gives 196k XP/hr, making it the best Woodcutting training method without tick manipulation.
However, several methods suit different preferences and goals, whether you want to prioritize GP, XP, AFK-ability, or a combination of the three.
Here are the 7 best money-making methods for Woodcutting in P2P as well as 3 methods for F2P.
Or, you can skip the money-making grind and buy GP from us by clicking here.
Each woodcutting method was tested for 30 minutes at 99 Woodcutting. Six of the P2P methods were tested with a Dragon Axe equipped. A Dragon Felling Axe was used for testing regular Bloodwood Trees, as they require fewer chops (only 19 compared to the Dragon Axe’s 22) to bleed the Bloodwood Tree.
All F2P methods were tested with a rune axe, which is the best axe available for F2P.
| Method | Woodcutting Level | GP/hr | XP/hr | Intensity | Other Requirements |
| P2P Methods | |||||
| Redwood Trees | 90 | 127,920 GP/hr | 65k XP/hr | Low | None |
| Infected Roots | 80 | 186,984 GP/hr | 9k XP/hr | Low | Completion of The Final Dawn |
| Yew Trees (P2P) at Prifddinas on Forestry Worlds | 60 | 320,158 GP/hr | 80k XP/hr | Low, Medium during Forestry Events | Completion of Songs of the Elves |
| Camphor Trees on Forestry Worlds | 66 | 345,254 GP/hr | 72k XP/hr | Low, Medium during Forestry Events | Completion of the Red Reef Quest |
| Magic Trees at Prifddinas on Forestry Worlds | 75 | 697,086 GP/hr | 73k XP/hr | Low, Medium during Forestry Events | Completion of Songs of the Elves |
| Engorged Bloodwood Tree | 77 | 711,900 GP/hr | 70k XP/hr | Low | Completion of The Blood Moon Rises |
| Regular Bloodwood Trees | 77 | 3,495,870 GP/hr | 196k XP/hr | High | Completion of The Blood Moon Rises |

Cutting Redwood trees requires 90 Woodcutting and can give up to 127,920 GP/hr and 65k Woodcutting XP/hr.
They can be found inside the Woodcutting Guild at Hosidius in Great Kourend or in the Farming Guild if you have one planted. The fastest way to get to both guilds is through the Skills Necklace Teleport.

Redwood trees have a unique mechanic where the section you’re chopping takes around 4 minutes and 24 seconds to deplete. This ensures 4 minutes of AFK time with a single click.
Depleted sections take 2 minutes to respawn, which means you will only ever need to rotate between two sections to chop.
Redwood trees also only drop clue nests, which are unique to them and give a clue scroll from beginner up to elite.
Upon testing this method, I chopped 82 Redwood logs in 30 mins. This works out to be 164 logs chopped in an hour, worth 127,920 GP. Unfortunately, I didn’t get any clue nests.

Chopping Infected Roots requires 80 Woodcutting and can give up to 186,984 GP/hr and 9k Woodcutting XP/hr.
Infected roots can be found inside the Ruins of Mokhaiotl, just outside the Doom of Mokhaiotl lobby. It requires completion of the Final Dawn quest to access.
You can use the Pendant of Ates to teleport to Kastori and then run to the Ruins of Mokhaiotl. The Pendant of Ates is a 1/25 drop from the Amoxliatl or a 1/100 drop from Frost Naguas. You can also use a Mokhaiotl Waystone, which is a common drop from the Doom of Mokhaiotl.
Personally, I would just use the Pendant of the Ates, as Mokhaiotl Waystones are expensive at 43,603 GP each.

Chopping Infected roots gives Demon Tears, which are used to charge the Eye of Ayak, a level 83 powered staff dropped by the Doom of Mokhaiotl. Infected roots do not deplete, so you can just click once and afk until the client prompts you that you are about to log out or your inventory is full of logs.
What’s great about chopping Infected roots is that Demon Tears are stackable, so there is no need to bank. You can use a log basket to double the amount of logs you can carry at one time, but it is fine if you don’t have one, as dropping a full inventory of logs only takes a short time.
Tip: You can use the Logout Timer plugin to extend your idle logout timer to up to 25 minutes, giving you even more time to AFK before getting logged out.
When I tested this method, I got 371 Demon Tears in 30 minutes. This equates to 742 Demon Tears per hour and 186,984 GP per hour.

Forestry Events can spawn while chopping eligible trees with a Forestry Kit equipped. These events can give you Anima-Infused Bark worth 208 GP if used to purchase felling axe handles or 217 GP when used to purchase Sawmill Vouchers.
For calculating the value of Anima-Infused Bark, we will be using the higher value of 217 GP.
You should do Woodcutting on Forestry Worlds because there are more players chopping with Forestry Kits, meaning more opportunities for Forestry Events.

Cutting Yew trees in Prifddinas requires 60 Woodcutting and can give you up to 320,158 GP/hr and 80k Woodcutting XP/hr.

In Prifddinas, skilling activities can give you Crystal shards. Crystal shards can be worth 14,030 GP if used to create Divine Super Combat potions, which can slowly add up. The completion of the Songs of the Elves quest is required for access to Prifddinas.
I tested this method for 30 minutes, and I got 167 Yew logs, 37 Yew leaves, 4 Crystal Shards, and 316 Anima-Infused Bark from 1 Forestry Event. A breakdown of what I would’ve gotten in an hour of doing this method is as follows:
Approximate Yield in 1 Hour
| Item | Quantity | Price | Total |
| Yew logs | 334 | 104 | 34,736 |
| Yew leaves | 74 | 487 | 36,038 |
| Crystal Shards | 8 | 14,030 | 112,240 |
| Anima-Infused Bark | 632 | 217 | 137,144 |
| Grand Total | 320,158 | ||
This gives us a total of 320,158 GP/hr.

Cutting Camphor trees on Forestry Worlds can give you up to 345,254 GP/hr and 80k Woodcutting XP/hr.
I recommend chopping Camphor Trees at the Sacred Grove on the Island of The Great Conch. The Sacred Grove features 8 Camphor trees and a nearby deposit box to bank your logs. Completion of the Red Reef quest is required to access this area.
.
Camphor trees take a fixed 2 minutes of chopping before they are felled. This is convenient as it ensures an exact 2 minutes of AFK time.
I chopped Camphor Trees for 30 minutes and got 228 Camphor logs and 619 Anima-Infused Bark from 2 Forestry Events. This equates to 456 Camphor logs worth 76,608 GP and 1,238 Anima-Infused Bark worth 268,646. This gives us an effective rate of 345,254 GP/hr.

Cutting Magic trees in Prifddinas requires 75 Woodcutting and can give you up to 697,086 GP/hr and 73k Woodcutting XP/hr.
Prifddinas is recommended for the same reason because skilling here can give Crystal Shards worth 14,030 GP.

I tested this method for 30 minutes, and I got 73 Magic logs, 17 Magic leaves, 3 Crystal shards, and 1112 Anima-Infused Bark from 3 Forestry Events. A breakdown of what I would’ve gotten in an hour of doing this method is as follows:
Approximate Yield in 1 Hour
| Item | Quantity | Price | Total |
| Magic logs | 146 | 732 | 106,872 |
| Magic leaves | 34 | 689 | 23,426 |
| Crystal Shards | 6 | 14,030 | 84,180 |
| Anima-Infused Bark | 2224 | 217 | 482,608 |
| Grand Total | 697,086 | ||
This gives us a grand total of 697,086 GP/hr.

Chopping the Engorged Bloodwood Tree requires 77 Woodcutting and can give you up to 711,900 GP/hr and 70k Woodcutting XP/hr.
The Engorged Bloodwood Tree is the AFK version of Bloodwood Trees and can be found in Vampyrium. This requires the completion of The Blood Moon Rises quest to access.

Tip: Using the AFK Overlay plugin can improve your AFK-ing experience. This is not only limited to Woodcutting but applies to all other activities that you can AFK. Do try it out.
Chopping the Engorged Bloodwood Tree can give you Buckets of Bloodwood Sap, which is worth 37,590 GP. The value of the sap depends on the wood used, which determines the number of seeking arrow shafts you can make.
I tested this method for 30 minutes, and I got 10 buckets of Bloodwood Sap. This equates to 20 buckets of Bloodwood Sap per hour, making our method worth 751,800 GP/hr.

Chopping the Bloodwood Trees requires 77 Woodcutting and can give you up to 3,495,870 GP/hr and 196k Woodcutting XP/hr. The best method for GP and XP in Woodcutting without tick manipulation.
Compared to the Engorged Bloodwood Tree, which gives an AFK-friendly experience, regular Bloodwood Trees are click-intensive. They can be found in Vampyrium, in the same area as the Engorged Bloodwood Tree. Likewise, completion of The Blood Moon Rises quest is required to access them.
Tip: Using a Felling axe instead of a normal axe will require fewer chops to bleed bloodwood trees. For comparison, a dragon felling axe would only need 18 chops at 99 Woodcutting compared to a normal dragon axe’s 22 chops.
It took me 18 minutes to fill up my inventory with 28 buckets of bloodwood sap, banking, and making the return trip. In an hour, I would be able to do 3 trips and 9 trees, which would give us a total of 93 buckets of bloodwood sap. This makes our method worth 3,495,870 GP/hr.

Tip: While waiting for your final trees to bleed and fill up your inventory, you can start chopping the other trees on standby if you’re going to return for another trip, but do not let them bleed. Bled trees reset if not collected and a player leaves the area or logs out.

F2P money-making options for Woodcutting are very limited, with only a handful of methods to choose from. I’ve selected the methods with the highest potential to earn.
| Method | Level | GP rates | XP rates | Intensity | Requirements |
| Oak Trees at Draynor on Forestry Worlds | 15 | 37,440 GP/hr | 38k XP/hr | Low, Medium during Forestry Events | None |
Willow Trees at Draynor on Forestry Worlds | 30 | 19,968 GP/hr | 56k XP/hr | Low, Medium during Forestry Events | None |
| Yew Trees | 60 | 29,328 GP/hr | 39k XP/hr | Low, Medium during Forestry Events | None |
Chopping trees with a Forestry Kit equipped on F2P worlds can still spawn Forestry Events and give Anima-Infused Bark. However, in F2P, Anima-Infused Bark can only be used to purchase Felling Axe Handles. Felling Axe Handles are worth 2,205,591 GP and require 10k Anima-Infused Bark and 500 note Oak logs. This gives the bark a value of 208 GP each.
You should do Woodcutting on Forestry Worlds because there are more players chopping with Forestry Kits, meaning more opportunities for Forestry Events.

Cutting Oak trees in a Forestry World can give up to 37,440 GP/hr and 38k Woodcutting XP/hr. Cutting Willow trees gives 19,968 GP/hr and 56K Woodcutting XP/hr.
The best location to chop Oak trees and Willow trees on F2P Forestry Worlds is at Draynor Village. Chopping the Oak Tree East of the Draynor Bank makes you eligible for rewards when Forestry events spawn at the Willows. Since Oak trees respawn so fast, you can camp this single Oak tree.

Willow logs are currently worth 24 coins and Oak logs are worth 39 coins. Since they are worth so little, you can choose to drop them and focus on just the Anima-Infused Bark for profit. What I would do is bank the Oak logs, while the Willow logs can be dropped or burned for Firemaking XP, but for the sake of this guide, I will be banking both.
I tested this method for 30 minutes: 15 minutes chopping the Oak tree and 15 minutes chopping Willow trees. I got a total of 240 Oak logs and 208 Willow logs during testing. A breakdown of what I would’ve gotten in an hour of doing this method is as follows:
Approximate Yield in 1 Hour
| Item | Quantity | Price | Total |
| Willow logs | 832 | 24 | 19,968 |
| Oak logs | 960 | 39 | 37,440 |
Sadly, we didn’t spawn any Forestry Events. One event can give us 200-300 Anima-Infused Bark worth 41,600-62,400 GP. This would have increased our GP per hour, but RNG was just not in our favor.

Cutting Yew trees in a Forestry World can give up to 29,328 GP/hr and 39k Woodcutting XP/hr.
The best locations for chopping Yew Trees on F2P Forestry Worlds are at Edgeville or on the Grand Exchange, which are both populated due to a nearby bank.

I tested this method for 30 minutes, and I got 141 Yew logs. Doing this for an hour can give you 282 Yew logs, which puts this method at 29,328 GP per hour. Sadly we were unlucky and didn’t spawn any Forestry Events.

If you're looking for the best GP and XP while training Woodcutting, I'd recommend regular Bloodwood Trees. They offer the highest GP and XP rates, but they're very click-intensive. Doing this for hours can be exhausting, so be prepared for a lot of clicking if you want to maximize your gains.
If you want a good balance between GP, XP, and AFK time, I'd go with Engorged Bloodwood Trees. The XP rates are comparable to methods like chopping Camphor Trees, Magic Trees, and Redwood Trees, but you'll be making more GP without having to rely on RNG from Forestry Events.
If you want to AFK while making GP on the side, I recommend chopping Infected Roots. This method is the most AFK in this guide, but the XP/hr is not great. One click can last you up to 25 mins of AFK time if utilizing the Logout timer plugin.
If you’re looking for AFK training, chopping Redwood Trees is the most AFK for Woodcutting XP. Redwood Trees ensure 4 minutes of AFK each time while giving 65k XP/hr.
For F2P players, focusing on Forestry Events will give you the best profit. Head to the most populated Forestry World and chop the highest-level tree you can chop at the recommended locations. The logs from the trees will provide consistent GP while you save up for the felling axe handle.
This depends on whether you want to prioritize GP or XP. The most AFK Woodcutting method prioritizing GP is chopping Infected Roots. If you are prioritizing XP, the most AFK method is chopping Redwood trees.
The best woodcutting money-making method in OSRS is currently chopping Bloodwood Trees, which can give you up to 3,495,870 GP/hr. It also provides XP rates of up to 196k XP/hr which doubles as a training method.
Yes, woodcutting is profitable in F2P since it doesn’t require you to consume supplies. It takes time to accumulate GP through F2P Woodcutting because the logs giving consistent GP are low value. But its low-intensity nature is one of the main things that makes this method attractive.
Chopping regular Bloodwood trees can give you up to 3,495,870 GP/hr. However, they are very click-intensive, and sustaining that rate for more than a few hours is exhausting. A low-intensity alternative is the Engorged Bloodwood tree, which can give you up to 711,900 GP/hr.
